I think it is the coaching. Both Flowers and Hernandez seem to be fairly capable on other teams. But guys who were half decent have sucked donkey dick on the Giants - who is the OL coach anyway??? Time to look hard at that dude. This team isnt winning shit in the trenches and hence the added pressure is falling on the others

Barkley is doubtful. So - yeah - makes it that much more difficult. Its got to be a high scoring affair i guess - a turn over or 2 from the defense will be much appreciated

Some takes:

49ers overall just play at a different level. And if Purdy stays healthy I can't see them being stopped. They are strong everywhere. Things will change when they have to pay Purdy and move cap space around but for the next 2 years they have to be favorites to win again. The speed that line attack the ball is immense. I'm not going to judge the Oline on that game because San Fran are going to do that to everyone.

I thought we did well overall except the fucking tackling and lack of discipline was annoying. If we play like that the rest of the season, we'll beat some teams we're not expected to beat. Not quite as good the 2nd half against the Cards but nowhere near as bad the the Cowboys game.

Micah McFadden was excellent, love the energy.

On the flip side, McKinney was awful and hasn't been good at all this season. I think you now have to question his effort because those weren't even attempted tackles last night. Hard tp believe he was considered a hard hitting safety and then watch that last night.

Bitch #1 : This late hit on the qb shit is too much. What the fuck was Leo supposed to do there?. Enough, the league needs to be realistic here.

Bitch # 2: How is Trent Williams still on the field?. You can't punch a guy at all. Everyone saw that. That alone should have the refs reprimanded.

Overall, not as bad a night as what was being predicted, we showed up.

 

Totally agree - this team didnt play as bad i had expected. Defense shat the bed this game - you drop 3 INTs, and then cant tackle someone's grandma - you aint gonna win in this league. Seattle game is gonna be crucial.

It took like 5 Giants players to bring down Deebo on that one play after he gained some 347 yards after the catch - Jesus they made him look like Percy Harvin and Devin Hester got into Mark Bavarro's body or something - the tackling was that piss poor the entire game.

I think - by mid-season if there is no improvement from Neal - bust talk can commence.

I kept on harping on this - Cards D is good! That comeback was actually brilliant stuff. We also stayed competitive against the 9ers till midway through the 3rd qtr. Then we ran out of gas - no barkley, no thomas - short week - miracles cant happen every week.

Micah McFadden made a big leap last night.

Purdy had almost 3 INTs in the 1st half - our defense ALSO couldnt catch a thing. Purdy was average last night - even the TD to Samuel was just a blind chuck with pressure in his face and Samuel just made a play - something Waller DIDNT do on that long pass. Our WR core is giving zero help - and Jones has had 3 tipped INTs so far - every game - there is one tipped INT. The only shit INT he threw was against Dallas while going out of bounds.

49ers didnt play too well - but our defense played like shit on 3rd downs. Im sick and tired of watching screens fucking on 3rd and long that often. Its been years now. This was a 3rd down game. Tackling has been poor. But on that note - JMS looks like he is coming along well. Im not too disappointed with this game - the Seattle game is the one Im looking forward to get to 2-2.

BTW Why did Jalin Hyatt have zero catches/targets????? Was there something else in plan inside house?

Not as bad as I actually thought.

We missed a few key plays

Zebras fucked us a lot of 3rd downs

Defense got fucked on a lot of 3rd downs

Overall it was a 3rd down conversion or stopping kinda game - and we lost the battle there. Im not too mad - i wasnt expecting us to even compete on a 4 day turnaround with no Thomas, Saquon etc. But good that we now have 11 days to recuperate a home and begin for the next few games which arent a gimme or a giveaway.

A lot of it is 'high pointing' to catch the ball and getting in position - earlier the Big 6-4 guys could out muscle the corners, nowadays these slender athletic freaks are also able to do it. That second pass that Hyatt caught was exactly that. Its high time we start using him to blow the top off a defense. Giants better watch a lot of Rams film - Rams really were playing damn well until that score just before the half took the air out of their tyres. Man - these momentum swings

Even in Game 1 - the Cards D isnt bad at all - they are quite capable. And Dobbs looks to be getting a little more comfortable with the offense. They werent as bad as they looked and we werent as great either

Back to 2022 season where the adjustments happen at the half. Line played much better - bootleg drop back was a nice touch - This was a game that was needed and Im glad it ended this way. Thursday is not going to be easy - but it wont be a wash out. My feeling. Saqouns is not a bad injury looks like.

Maybe, and I by no means say this is true, but maybe Daboll and the coaching staff intentionally made the Giants look absolutely pathetic including the coaching being an absolute disaster, had an excellent 1st drive to prove a point and then immediately went away from the run game, told special teams to be "special", instructed to have an INT returned for a TD and told the DL not to have any pressure - only so that the rest of the league can continue to underestimate us and let us fly under the radar for some more time  Because they knew this was not a game they were gonna win in Week 1.

Here's my final feeling after the letting a lot of mind dust settling - Giants looked good on the 1st drive - but then the FG block, then INT return for TD deflated the fuck out of them and Im still skeptical about the footwear the teams were using. I think we arent as bad as it looked - we bounce back super strong this week.
