  1. Unless you're OBJ you're not getting much as a WR. The Giants O is basically a few dumps to RB and TE and to the other WRs. Then all the rest are forces to OBJ. Other teams know this and are not respecting any of the other players and will regularly half guard them while triple teaming OBJ. Also since O is all about timing they basically jam him as much as possible to make him mad and it works.

  2. Lewis brain farted all night. id rather just see Harris on the outside til Cruz comes back.

I know it's a safety valve on blitzes but those near lateral passes are just brutal week after week. Either they drop it or catch it and can't make the first guy miss. And that's when Eli hits them cuz he's like Steve sax throwing to first base on that throw.

Those are small quibbles though, I'm very happy with the team and we might be the third best team in the conference with a road win over the #1 seed. Four in a row!

What is going on with Harris? He looked reasonably good last year but is getting nothing this year.

  3. You can physically abuse by restraining, grabbing, throwing things, etc. without actually striking someone. Either way, he's a sorry excuse for a man and I'm glad the Giants have moved on.

I do feel shady rooting for a team that wanted to make sure Gould was good to go before cutting Brown. I am not buying the backtracking by Mara...they knew full well at the outset and were fine with the 1 game the league gave him.

Of course the Giants did. As I posted before it's all about the optics and once it became embarrassing the Giants decide it's now time to act like they were unaware. Same shit the Ravens pulled with Rice. What exactly did they think a video of a jacked athlete hitting a small women would look like? A love tap and a giggle? A good starting point is to remember every team is about the money and when you infringe on that is when you need to go. If a player can hide the transgression and make the team money then it's business as usual.

  4. He did all of the above but he'll be cut now. AP only received a second chance because he's a very good player. Brown is good but nobody considers a kicker a skill position though. Interestingly enough his wife wouldn't co-operate with any of the investigation. On that note why she at the pro bowl with him?

  5. NFL screwed the pooch again. Giants may have joined them.

It's no longer an "if he did this" situation. In the original procedings, JB admitted to physically and emotionally abusing his wife. Wife files complaint saying this happened. Brown admitted it happened. There really isn't a need for damning evidence at that point. That's like going to trial after a plea bargain is made. There's no point to go any further.

As to whether or not the NFL or Giants knew about it...the NFL certainly knew about it dating back to the pro bowl given they provided his wife a separate room. And if the NFL knew about it, I can't help but believe they informed the Giants. And if they didn't know about it, they damn well should have. The NFL can uncover shit these players did 4 years before they were drafted at a time when the public wouldn't have the slightest clue who they hell they even were. It's amazing how little information your investigation yields when you don't want your investigation to reveal certain information.

Point is, this guy beat his wife, same as Ray Rice. And after the Rice debacle, the NFL suspends a guy for fewer games? I hate to bring up Brady here, because I believe he did have the footballs deflated to his liking, but he essentially got 4 games for cheating. Players who beat their wives get 1-2 games. Clearly, the league values the validity of their games more than women's well-being - that's clear no matter how much pink shit they put on the field. This is the type of stuff that should get Goodell and a whole litany of NFL executives fired...like yesterday. I'm not generally one to call for people to lose their jobs, but holy hell this is pathetic. The NFL has a very real, very much existing problem condoning physical violence against women. And yes, condoning is very much the correct word here. It's to the point where if I'm the players union, I'm calling for a player's strike effective immediately. If the NFL wants to treat this seriously, they should suspend games for a week or shit, the rest of the season if they have to...in order to get their heads out of their asses. Because let's face it, as long as the money is coming in, the owners, the league, the players...in the grand scheme of things, do not and will not care.

Well if he smoked weed he'd be cut by now.

  6. Because...as usual it's all about the optics and the NFL trying to trow a player under the bus to save face. Same shit happened with Rice where he admitted to wrong doing to the NFL and the Ravens. Once the video surfaced though it was everyone for themselves time.

  7. Sounds like he's going the "mea culpa" route, which might save him.

He already did from the articles. He seems to feel bad and is getting help but the wife I guess wants more blood.

It's a joke that these guys aren't full-time employees. How do other leagues do it?

  9. Honestly, I'm not sure I understand the "what's wrong with Eli" arguments.

Eli's been streaky his entire career. For four weeks he'll throw for 400 yards and 3TDs a game... for three weeks he'll throw for 175 and two picks a game. "Consistently inconsistent."

Eli is playing like Eli. We're fortunate he's gotten on hot streaks in the playoffs twice.

Truth. Somebody posted EA's pre-draft write up and this was his assessment. Guy will make you pull your hair out or jump for joy; no in between. One difference though is that Eli isn't making those improbable comebacks very often anymore. I used to joke with woman when the Giants were down by 6 with 3:00 left in the game that the Giants had the opponents where they wanted them and it's Eli time. Over the past 2 years that hasn't been very true anymore.

  10. Totally agreed. These guys have pretty clearly shown that they are very sure they have the right people. It remains to be seen whether they're being stubborn or they're correct but all you gotta look at is them firing coughlin and keeping everyone else to see that they thought they were fine as is but felt they had to throw the media and fans who wanted major change a bone.

I was about 55%-45% in favor of keeping coughlin. But if you're gonna fire the guy then you scrap the whole damn thing, not just fire one guy while keeping his staff. It wasnt correct or fair to just blame tom

Definitely bullshit. That's why I hope if the Giants face plant (I.m talking really bad like top 5 draft) then the owners eat their pride and nuke the entire staff and realise that drafting a QB to sit and learn behind Eli and a new coaching staff is the best option. The problem with firing Coughlin is that it was a half measure and a pointless move. With the way OBJ was acting 4 games into the season the locker room may already be in turmoil. I am a Giants fan and here's hoping everything comes up roses and unicorns but this season has a very bad feeling to it.

  11. Yeah, Eli always had issues with the short pass accuracy but now it seems like his deep ball is off also. Unless Eli turns it around I think a nuke from orbit is warranted because being top 10 in the draft again gives you a shot a QB. You'd want your new staff to have the choice to pick who that will be. Top 5 draft pick and you definitely nuke.

  12. The defense has kept the Giants in every game except for Minnesota. In fact, the defense won the Saints game without much help from the offense. I don't know why Spags is taking heat. They aren't the '85 Bears but they've been doing their job often in difficult circumstances because the offense can't stay on the field and give them a break, and constantly is putting them in bad positions.

Lack of pass rush... it was a problem in this game and Minnesota, but there was pass rush in previous games. The sack statistic doesn't tell the whole story.

Moreover, Spags is the coach. You pay Vernon $54 million to win one-on-one battles. He didn't win them last night. Same goes for the other guys. They weren't winning the one on ones. The short-comings are on the players, but overall the defense did great. 23 points to the Packers at home is good enough to win with a competent offense. A competent offense also would've limited the Packers opportunities to score 23 points.

The secondary especially was very good last night.

The Giants are 2-3 because the offense is terrible, and for no other reason.

That could have easily been 1-4 with the way the O is playing. Eli used to be great at the deep pass but that's now an issue for him also. OBJ is getting open down field but Eli can't drop those passes in the bucket like he used to.

  13. They were double teaming him last year when we had no one out there with him. Now we have Cruz back and a star rookie running routes almost every drop back. If anything it's harder to focus a ton of attention on him now.

We don't have to force feed him, but there's no excuse to not gameplan heavily around the wide receivers when you consider the personnel we have now

Exactly, last year it was OBJ, Randle and Harris and he still managed to play great. This year it's OBJ, Cruz and Sheperd and instead the balls are being thrown to Tye, Donnell and Rainey. If I owned the Giants after the Vikings game McAdoo would be getting an earful. Also IMHO you absolutely force the ball to the best WR in the league. Play makers win games.

I swear I could have hit McAdoo with that beer can.

He was right below us. Probably would have woken the dumb ass up.
