  1. I'd gladly take his bitching over a underachieving safety and a run stuffing DT.

And you know 160 yard+ TD games from a dynamic WR who only needs to catch a slant to turn it into a massive gain.

But yeah he's a "head case" lol he's right on the level with AB.

Well I for one would rather we didnt have a WR who would most likely get inside our rookie QBs head and destroy his confidence.

BTW our under achieving safety is in his first year in a totally new system. Maybe we could give him a little more then two games before we label him a bust.

After seeing Odells continued ridiculous reactions to being traded, I dont understand how anyone could conclude that he isnt a head case. Never mind all the stupid shit he did while he was with the team. The guy is bat shit crazy.

  2. Remember the good old days when we had a primary WR like Plax or Nicks who could win one on one battles and make plays?

    Those were the days.

By this logic we should just dump all the players on the team.

Remember when Saquon won us all those games? Oh wait...

Remember when Hernendez lead the block for all those wins? Oh wait...

    LOL what stupid logic.

And they will return to those days. Hopefully with someone who doesnt think their name is bigger then the logo. If you cant see the difference between all these players you mentioned and Odell, then you just havent been paying attention.

When you have a cancerous tumor, you cut it out. Afterwards you celebrate its removal. You dont complain that its gone.

    That is stupid logic.

  3. If the Giants had gone with Lauletta just for a year until they snagged Jones, aka actually rebuilt the team after going 3-13, this team would have Barkley and Beckham as weapons to use for Jones. Beckham obviously wasnt happy catching passes from old man Eli.

Instead theyre stuck with waiting until 2020 to actually begin rebuilding when all these ridiculous contracts and Mannings persistently franchise debilitating contract come off the books.

Last thing DJ needed was that head case bitching about his rookie mistakes. Let it go.

  4. Will never forget Eli and what he has meant to this team. I can hardly remember what its like not having a solid QB. Its been a very long time since then. Hopefully Jones can build that same confidence in the fan base as Eli did. At least in his first 11 years.

I feel bad for him that they werent able to put a good team around him in his final year. Going out like this sucks. Aside from that though I think some folks are taking the Eli pity party a little to far. The guy is retiring as a future hall of famer, with two rings and many millions of dollars.

Thanks for the great memories Eli. You will always be a champion in my mind.

  5. I dont think anyone is in any danger of being tossed. With all the young talent, and now a 22 year old QB, I think this move just bought everyone two years before heads start rolling.

Hopefully things will get turned around by then.

I have high hopes for Jones. Like its been said, there will be growing pains. Im crossing fingers though that this kid comes out swinging. I think thats totally possible.

  6. Eli isn't necessarily the reason they are losing, but he isn't doing much to help them win either. Like it's been pointed out, this team has sucked for a long time. Continuing to play Eli is going to get the exact same thing they have been putting on the table for the last 5 years. Putting in Jones now is a win win situation. Either he is going to begin getting the experience he is going to need for the start of next year, or best case scenario, he comes out swinging, and maybe wins a few games. We wont know till he is on the field, but a small part of me is thinking DJ could bring a much needed spark to this offense.

i think Shurmur has done a good job of correcting the culture here. He's also a lot more animated and seems to stick it to the media much better than I thought he would.

I have definitely reservations about Shurmur's playcalling. There is literally no reason why Barkley only got 11 touches in a game where he was averaging 10 yards per carry. This isn't the first time he's done some things that make me question his playcalling either. Also, Mike Shula is not a good coordinator and never has been IMO.

Absolutely. I will say Shurmur is a really good players coach, and like you said he has the ship pointed in the right direction as far as culture as well.

It's the play calling. Like WTH?? He has had me scratching my head quite a few times. Barkley should get more touches then the average back in the league. How it is he got about half those is just mind boggling. If I didnt know better Id say there was something wrong with Barkley that they are not sharing with us.

He needs a good coordinator. I agree Shula sucks too, but honestly Id rather Shula call the plays over Shurmur from what we have seen. I have to imagine Shula at least understands they have a all star running back.

I don't think they want him getting killed out there and shatter his confidence with rookie mistakes... he's not sitting on the bench picking his nose.. he's learning behind a veteran QB.

There is something to be said about letting a rookie QB spend his time learning his first year. With Jones though, from what we have seen so far (aside from the fumbles) I think he is ready to at least be a serviceable QB at this level. Heck its entirely possible he comes out swinging

  9.

I know what you mean, but it's also the first game of the season. We have zero pass rush RIGHT NOW. We have a bad secondary RIGHT NOW.

The one thing I'll say about the secondary though... with guys running free like that, it seemed to be more of blown assignments and people not knowing where they're supposed to be. That seems fixable. I'm a little alarmed with Baker looking like he's a step behind and not getting his head around... but also, these guys are press corners that Bettcher was lining up 10-15 yards off the LOS. Hopefully Betch learns his players better and the players learn the scheme.

Also people keep complaining about the pass rush and they should... there was no pass rush. However, two years ago with JPP and Olivier Vernon eating up 1/3 of our cap space, there was also no pass rush. Most teams have no pass rush against that Dallas O-line... I wouldn't take too much out of that yet. If we're still complaining about the rush after week 4 or so I'll start to be alarmed, but Dallas isn't a good barometer of how much your team is going to pressure the QB.

Yeah I feel ya. Part of me definitely feels like Im calling for this a little to early. If this still looks as bad as it does right now by week 5, there will be no doubt in my mind letting Danny dimes start will be the right thing to do.

I also agree the secondary was mostly about blown assignments. It was obviously so bad though, Im not sure how quickly it can be fixed. Baker did have a terrible game, but this kid only allowed one TD I believe His last year of collage. Im really starting to get concerned that Bettcher just doesnt know what he is doing. Same for Shurmur. The one thing I think we can take away here though, even if these kids had played well, without a pass rush, they were going to get eaten alive anyway. So Ill give them a pass for now.

About your last point, Im torn on that one. Id like to think they will find a way to get after the QB. But I have serious doubts we have the talent at DE for that to happen. That isnt just based on last week, but from knowing they did next to nothing to replace guys like Vernon, and JPP. Those guys had talent, and like you said they still werent getting it done. How is this group ever gonna get there?

Time will tell, but Im thinking DJ will or at least should be starting by mid season at least.

  10. Its a shame DJ wont see the field anytime soon. Maybe Im jumping the gun here, but it seems to me, with zero pass rush combined with the inexperience in the back field, its hard to imagine they wont be picking in the top 5 come the next draft.

They should be letting him get his rookie mistakes over with now, in a rebuilding year. Why wait till next year when they might have a chance to have a winning season?

This is not to say that DJ gives them the best chance to win. Nor am I saying Eli cant play anymore. It would have been nice if the team as a whole was in a position to win more games then they are gonna lose. That Eli could ride off into the sunset with a chance to have a great season, or even walking away with another ring. Thats not gonna happen though. I say let DJ be tried by fire now, rather then later.

  11. Prescott ripped apart the secondary. It was ugly to watch. But they're young and have talent. Dallas is stacked. They're just better. But there is reason to be optimistic. After the growing pains are gone...the Giants should be a force to be reckoned with.

2021 and forward should be a great time for this team

The pieces are here...with some more good drafts and some smart and savvy free agent signings....theres no reason they wont be perennial Superbowl contenders

Yeah. It just sucks having to sit through another year like this.

  12. Exactly Sep. This guy has thrown some great passes. Right on the money. Not only accurately but putting the receivers in position to get yards after the catch. Hitting them in stride. A few times under heavy pressure. I hate to jump the gun, but I'm really starting to believe this kid could really be special.
