  1. Ugh that might be the worst part, another year of Mercury Morris and Don Shula's yapping.
  2. Officiating is far from perfect. But in general it is no worse than it is in other sports. i don't know how old you are, but I remember before review. The refs would miss a huge play, like the guy was clearly in bounds for a TD, everybody watching the game on TV knew it. But the team had to settle for a FG. And we would have a game were everybody both the winners and the losers knew the result was wrong. Still introducing review was controversial because it slows down the game. The purpose was never to fix every mistake. Just those really huge ones were the entire western world knew the wrong team won the game. It has achieved that goal. Also if you get both challenges right, you get a third. If we got to the point where after every play we reviewed the action at the line and studied it for holding, the game would take 10 hours. Also generally the refs are pretty consistent. A ref that lets a lot of holding go usually does for both teams. It often varies from ref to ref so it is not consistent from game to game. But within a game both teams are usually held to the same standard. Things are missed, but in the long run, every team gets "lucky" about equally.
  3. Holding is not reviewable. Basically anything that is a judgment call -- holding, PI, unsportman like, etc can not be reviewed whether called or not. Things that are not really a judgment call but are a matter of measurements. 12 men on the field, in bounds or out of bounds, spot on the field are reviewable. Question was is he inbound or out of bounds slowing down the film and careful checking should make that something with careful study should yield a result that folks would not disagree on. Holding is something where reasonable minds could look at the film at slow speed might still disagree. Also you only had two red flags. Wasting it on a first down would not be wise. Only times it should be used is when a reversal will change the score or change possession. In this case it changed possession.
  4. Actually a total of 11 "Dolphins" went to the SB, those four plus Pats: RB Kyle Eckel, Waived in '07 training camp Pats: FB Heath Evans, Starter cut in Sept. '05 Pats: LB Larry Izzo, Free agent not re-signed before 2001 Pats: OL Billy Yates, Undrafted FA in '03, cut in '04 Pats: WR Wes Welker, Traded for 2nd-round pick in '07 Pats: RB Sammy Morris, Free agent not re-signed before '07 Pats: LB Junior Seau, Acquired in '03 trade, not re-signed before '06 Almost all 11 made a bigger contribution for their new team then they did for the Dolphins. Which says a lot about that teams talent assessment.
  5. Okay maybe I overreacted a little. I congratulate the Giants fans. I am not going to take crap from fans of other teams that this proves the "Patriots suck." Which others have posted, not here, but on other MBs. So I overreacted a bit b/c you are Dolphins fan.
  6. Actually I will congratulate four former Dolphins: CB Sam Madison, Free agent not re-signed before '06 OL Grey Ruegamer, Drafted in '99, cut in 2000 DL Manny Wright, Cut in 2007 offseason RB Reuben Droughns, Spent one month on practice squad in 2001
  7. My congratulations was direct to the Giants, not the 1-15 Dolphins. Patriots and the Giants are hardly arch rivals. We don't play often enough to form a rivalary. And I don't really consider the Dolphins much of a rivalary either. Maybe Parcells will change that...but right now Pats rivals are Colts, Chargers, Steelers and maybe Buffalo. Without a wholesale improvement of your pathetic fish you team is not an challenge to the post-season and certainly not in the post-season. Don't be confused, by my post the congratulations was directed to Giants fans not pathetic Jets and Dolphin fans who bandwagoned.
  8. Nope. The NFL would have a hissy fits. Presses are going strong right now. They may not have waited for the last knell down and started after the 4th down. But not sooner than that.
  9. That is what I thought you were going to say to. And the outcome really didn't effect the clothing distribution in Africa. Only about 200 hats and t-shirts are made before the game for each team. The ones distributed at the game to the teams. The rest are not printed until after the game. The same number was printed for both teams so the only change for Africa is design.
  10. You are right it is not the way I wanted it to end this way. But on 18 out of 19 times I watched a Patriots game this season it had an happy ending, that is not a bad average for a sports fan. I was also fan back in 1990 when only 1 out of 16 games had a happy ending. I will take this season over anything in the '80s or '90s. Once again congrats, it was a historic win.
  11. Maybe Vick can do the booth commentary when gets out of jail....
  12. Come'on that is a funny clip. I would laugh at a clip of TC doing a cooking show...
  13. Everybody has to get in on the superbowl...next thing you know a coach will be on the food network making a peanut butter sandwich...wait that has already been done.... http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=zOaGkPXn9LQ
  14. what is the puppy bowl? i have fox on I assume that is on another station...
  15. Friction is a drag. But then again gravity is such a downer.
  16. Actually he made a good stand for awhile, almost looked like he was going to win, but folded at the end..... Kinda like week 17.
  17. Hum.... that seems like something more appropriate if Eli older brother won the SB
  18. I think you are being a bit unfair to the Jets there. Would not be as large as for the Giants, But unless the Giants win tomorrow, the Jets will keep the undisputed claim to the greatest SB upset in history. (If the Giants win expect that to be a debate) One could build a lot of history around that SB alone. And the Jets have had some players go to Canton.
  19. How come? I could understand that for a team like Jax or Carolina that hasn't been around very long but Giants have a rich history. You could have an awesome hall of fame. Make it apart of the new stadium. Then again you guys don't have cheerleaders either...what up with that?
  20. That cute. Reminds me of the Buffalo fans that billieve.
  21. The NFL has rules. BB was determined to violated an NFL rule, he was punished with a fine of 3/4 million dollars and a first round draft pick. The NFL also has a rule about excess celebrating a touchdown in the end zone, week 17, Moss and Co were determined to have violated that rule when he tied Rice's TD record and he was punished with 15 yards on the ensuing kick off. Neither infraction was overlooked. Both was punished. Neither needs senate involvement, nor should either take away from tomorrow's game.
  22. Here are my questions about this: 1) According to various media accounts and Matt Walsh’s current employers bio on him, Mr. Walsh left the Patriots in 2003 However, according to his own wedding announcement he left in January 2002. http://www.projo.com/weddings/content/proj...15x.33494a.html The Patriots went to the SB that year, which means he left before the season was over. A year later he gets a job working with NFL Europe. Maybe there was a typo or maybe he lied to his employer so it didn’t look like he was unemployed for a year. 2) Speaking of creditability does it bother anyone that he claims to have spent parts of two seasons on the golf team, the college's sports information office has no record of him in its files? http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3226465 3) Walsh hints to have copies of said tapes with evidence of Patriots cheating. I doubt Patriot policy would allow him to make copies of tapes for his personal use, so if he did they are stolen. Does he actually claim to have hard evidence or is the media just jumping to conclusions? 4) If we are talking about the Patriots spying on the Rams why aren’t we also talking about the Rams spying on the Patriots? http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html...751C0A9649C8B63 "Halfway through practice, Patriots' linebackers coach Pepper Johnson noticed something in a third-floor window of a house next to the field. Club and league officials said a telescope was clearly visible in the window, according to a pool report, and that 15 minutes later, a person appeared at the window, and then vanished. Officials scanned the window with binoculars, but the person never returned." 5) According to this story. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3226465 "Obviously, Mangini knew what was going on and it had been going on for a while," Walsh said. "They tried to catch them doing it last year and weren't able to. So they were just waiting for them to throw the camera up this year on the sideline. But afterwards, I get the impression the league said to them, 'Hey, kind of back down from this; let us take care of it,' because Mangini probably could have come out and said more, made more of a deal out of it if he wanted to." Mr. Walsh has inside information that the Jets tried and failed to catch the Pats spying in 2006. Whether he left in 2002 or 2003... how does he have inside information about 2006? 6) According to http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/playoffs07/n...tory?id=3227245 The unnamed source we all assume is Walsh claims that a Patriots employee stayed behind and video taped the event "According to the report, an unnamed source close to the team during the 2001 season said that following the Patriots' walk-through at the Louisiana Superdome, a member of the team's video staff stayed behind and taped the Rams' walk-through -- a non-contact, no-pads practice at reduced speed in which a team goes through its plays. The cameraman was not asked to identify himself or produce a press pass and later rode the media shuttle back to the Patriots' hotel, the source told the Herald. It is not known what became of the tape, or whether the cameraman made the tape on his own initiative or at someone else's instruction, according to the report." Yet according to http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/football/...ts_practice_ap/ Practices are a closed event so he could not hide among the media.... Or maybe someone thought he was a family member of one of the Rams, and he took a tape the equivalent to the Rams family home video.... Yeah thats the edge the Pats need...film of the Ram players hugging their kids. 7) Specter is Comcast’s lead senator in the fight with the NFL over if it should be part of basic cable or a sport package. According to opensecrets.org his second largest donor is Comcast. How is what the senator doing any different than the shake down of Moss? 8) According to http://www.philly.com/inquirer/front_page/...e_sparring.html The senator or his chief of staff attempted to use the office to get tickets for the SB. Is that a violation of senate ethic rules? 9) When did the rules about side line video taping go in to effect? Best as I can tell it wasn’t until 2006, but I might be wrong. If it wasn’t in effect when Walsh worked with the Patriots, why would it matter if they taped then?
