  1. YES! Let's go Mets! Seriously, contract history from the Mets. Worth it?
  2. I hope it does get done. Johan is a great player, and will be worth the money that the Mets fork up. I can't wait to see how this turns out. This will probably be good, since every Met fan in the world has their thumbs up for this deal to go through.
  3. I KNOW! The Mets need him! They need to stop thinking so hard, and just grant him the fucking years. 4 years of greatness is SOOOO worth the 2 subpar years.
  4. I got scared for a minute, thinking that this was someone important to the Giant's game this sunday, but it wasn't. He's stupid to do that, but I don't really care about him.
  5. Deadline's over. I don't know what to think. As a Met fan, i'm pissed. As a sports fan, a dude shouldn't be so greedy. Hope this isn't the end.
  6. Yes! finally the Mets are being serious about the 2008 season Cheers to the mets for making this trade, and hope for a good season.
  7. I really don't think the weather plays any part in a game such as the Superbowl, sure weather plays its part when its week 4 and a somewhat less insignificant game, but when you are playing a game for the Vince Lombardi trophy then the elements don't come into it. You talk about the old Patriots guys tiring out, you do realize that there are probably a few old guys on the Giants team as well as the Patriots that will never see Superbowl action again, so they are going to give much more in this game then they ever have before, well at least they should be, since they should know, this is probably the last chance of Championship action they are ever going to get again. And if you want to talk about the heat being a factor, then chances are Strahan is going to tire a lot quicker against his heavier opponents then they are, because there is only so long you can go trying to beat the offensive line with speed before you exhaust yourself, no matter what the weather, the longer a game goes on, the more a defense fatigues itself. __________________
  8. This is the funniest thing ever to a Giants fan, and to a Cowboys fan this is the saddest thing ever lol. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2triiYXSY8
  9. GIANTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IN THE SUPERBOWL!!!!!!!!! TIME FOR THE CELEBRATION!
  10. NEW YORK -- The first-base coaching box at Shea Stadium will no longer need to contain Rickey Henderson's flair. The Mets on Monday named Tom Nieto to Henderson's old post, reaffirming their emphasis on defense and completing a core coaching staff that otherwise remains unchanged. Nieto, 47, had spent the past three seasons as the team's catching instructor. "Tom is a knowledgeable baseball man, and I know he will do a great job for us," manager Willie Randolph said in a statement. "He has experience on the bases, and we will have the added bonus of having him in the dugout between innings so he can interact with the players more, especially our catchers Brian Schneider and Ramon Castro." Nieto first worked alongside Randolph when he spent two years as the Yankees' catching coach at the start of this decade. Randolph was the team's bench coach at the time, and while the arrangement lasted only two years -- Nieto eventually took a job managing Class A Palm Beach of the Florida State League in 2003 -- the two were reunited with the Mets in 2005. Before that, Nieto served as the manager of several Yankees farm teams, compiling 570 career wins as a Minor League manager. His playing career lasted for only parts of seven seasons, and produced a .205 average and five home runs. Serving primarily as a backup catcher, Nieto won a World Series title with the Twins in 1987 and a National League pennant two years earlier with the Cardinals. "I am looking forward to the change," Nieto said in a statement. "Every year I managed in the Minors I coached third, so being on the bases is nothing new. Also, being on the bench will help me assist the catchers with the game management. I think it is going to be an ideal situation." The team sees that last part -- helping the catchers -- as more than just a bonus. It's no secret that the Mets have had an eye toward fortifying their defense behind the plate this winter, and they believe they've found an attractive tandem in Schneider and Castro. If Nieto can help both of them fulfill their defensive potential behind the plate, then his role may assume an added impact. At the least, he'll attempt to add some stability to the first-base box after Henderson spent just half a season in the role. Nieto joins a coaching staff that includes incumbent third-base coach Sandy Alomar, pitching coach Rick Peterson and hitting coach Howard Johnson.
  11. I guess the thread title needs to be changed.
  12. Giants win! What a glorious day for the NY team.
  13. i'm nervous as well. The giants need to step up now, and I think this is the game that decides the true character of Eli Manning.
  14. Seriously, the Mets need this! this is an awesome trade, and I don't think any of the players, I would miss.
  15. I think the loss was more towards the Referees. Eli has thrown interceptions every other game, i'm just glad he chose the patriots game to look decent. All I know is that I feel good about tampa bay. I feel like the Giants are in the second round of the playoffs, and my only regret is that Coughlin will probably stay another year.
  16. I think the weather had more to do with it
  17. Hope to see the Mets do much better last year. Fire Willie, get new pitchers, and get rid of Lo Duca.
  18. definitley. The mets are ready to crush the Marlins. But, need some help from the Nationals.
  19. Aight, my opinion is this: The Mets need to show off. In a crucial game like this, the mets have to do everything possible to keep a lead or vise versa. Glavine pitches good, on most days, and against the Marlins i'm sure he'll be alright. Hope though, the offense will back him up. Mets ftw.
  20. I was in the Upper level, section 47, row u. 9 dollar seats, but because of the deaf convention that's the best I could get.
  21. I was at the game today. Man, what a game. I was on my feet more than sitting, and I was loving every minute of it. John Maine was excellent pitching almost 8 innings with 1 hit. Milledge with two homers and everyone starting had an RBI or a run scored. The fight today was awesome. Reyes and the Mets showed them up right there. I was proud to be a Mets fan. Lmao, the drunk fans were almost pissing themselves.
  22. I agree. The Mets are a good team, with a great lineup and not too shabby starting pitching. Willie has made bad decisions and the Mets are paying for it now. We have to get through this and look to the playoffs.
