how am I being a hyprocrite? I would never call a guy who has faced the Red Sox 2 times in his career a with a 1-1 record a Red Sox killer.

So now that he has a bad start under his belt, everything changes? I don't see the point of this post...

everything changes?? Thats completely the point of this thread. There have been an abundance of pitchers who have thrown great games against the Yankees(in the post season too)...why are they not Yankee killers? The guy has faced the Yankees 4 times in career and has a 2-2 record. Did Beckett shut down the Yankees in the WS? Yes. Did the Yankees beat Beckett in the WS? Yes. Has Josh Beckett beaten the Yankees this season? Yes. Have the Yankees beaten Beckett this season? Yes. Lets stop the nonsense.

1-1 10.80 ERA in 2006 vs NY Yankees. I wish more teams had Yankee killers on their staffs.

One regular season loss, or exposing a $150+ million payroll on the way to winning the World Series and an MVP award. Take your pick...

P.S. He did it again...

Meanwhile A-Rod did ??? as you got SWEPT at home by the A's....

I stated facts, not opinions. Sorry if the truth hurts...

Maybe we'll get an ace like RJ one day soon.

If I remember correctly, Carl Pavano also shut down the Red Sox last year in his first start against them. The path of Pavano last year and Beckett this year are almost the exact same IMO. Both had weaknesses but were able to overcome them at the outset of the season mostly before collapsing (not saying Beckett has collapsed exactly but he's on his way). I think yankee and red sox fans both need to realize that NL pitchers can't pitch in the AL East.

I watched that game. It was a nothing special outing by Pavano really. Hardly shutting them down. He was in place for the win yes and also did have a solid game but certainly not shutting them down.

Anyway, what does Pavano have to do with Beckett at this point? Just because they came from Florida and had similar debuts against the opposing team doesn't mean shit.

Pavano went 6 1/3, 2 ER and 7 K in that game, not outstanding but it was well over a quality start. Would have got the win if Mo had not given up the lead however the Yanks still won.

And what he has to do with him at this point, besides both being from Florida, is that like you can see from the above line and his few starts following, although he ended up with a losing record, most of his starts were quality before his ERA became bloated (see Beckett) and began losing more decisions (see Beckett) and then got injured and fell off the map.

I think you are reaching a little bit here. Beckett and Pavano both playing for Florida really have nothing to do with each other. What does them both playing in Florida a couple of years ago have to do with each other?

There's no way we can call him a Yankee killer after a few starts against them, and there is no way he could be called the next Carl Pavano after a few more starts that are similar to Pavano's.

This is coming from a guy who's old signature used to be:

"The MLB had to change its rules for the Red Sox to win"

Fucking idiot, do you even know why the Wild Card was created, you stupid fuck?

When he is bad, he is BAD.

Yet he has twice the natural talent that Pavano had when he came to New York, so Sox fans shouldn't be worried. He needs another consistent pitch or something though.

here's the worst part, in my opinion. No one knows what he's doing wrong. They cant sit him down and explain it to him.

What has happened is his 97 mph fastball over the plate is being hit by the guys in the AL as opposed to the guys in the NL who are not quite as good. He needs to learn how to locate that pitch. I bet out of all the home runs he's given up, 90-95% are off that fastball. All 3 last night were on it.

Can't disagree with that. He has some tailoring up to do.
