Today's Giant team going with 11 rookies

The Giants didn't have any last minute signings to shore up their linebackers and instead, signed DE Justin Trattou off the practice squad.

Trattou looked decent during preseason and coaches have praised him in practice, but the DE position is so deep with such high end talent that he really never stood a chance. Everyone thought they'd be signing a linebacker to fill the hole left by Goff, but it looks as if the coaches are staying pat with the LB crew. Wow!

They say that Tuck is traveling with the team, but one might get the idea that he isn't going to suit up based on bringing up Trattou. Or...I suppose....maybe the want Kiwi to stay at his new linebacker position and Trattou is insurance if Tuck can't play.

Most interesting to me is the level of confidence (or sheer stupidity - time will tell) the coaches are giving our super-young and inexperienced LB'rs.

This could be a disastor or it could be the start of wonderful things. Either way, no team in the NFL comes close to using as many rookies as the Giants are using. 55 rookies now are on 32 teams. With 11 on the Giants, that leaves 44 spread out over 31 other teams or roughly less than 2 (1.4 to be exact) rookies per rest of the NFL teams. Not only are the 11 rookies on the Giants team untested, many of them are UDFAs. Almost smells of desparation. Regardless, if Reese and TC can pull off a winning season utilizing a strategy of knitting together nearly a dozen rookies, (most undrafted), they should be hall of fame material.

Going to be an awfully interesting day. New kicker. New linebacking corps. The return of Moss to CB and Phillips at S, several new receivers, and a chance to watch Ballard as starting TE, etc.

These articles are stupid. Of course we didn't "shore up" our linebackers yet.

Every other article made mention of the fact that if we were to "shore up" our linebackers, it wouldn't be until after the first game, when contracts are not guaranteed.
