Lughead
BLUE NOTES There are still five picks left and I fully expect the Giants to take at least one linebacker for depth. However, it’s becoming very clear that the Giants’ strategy going into this draft was to work on their defensive line and hope that the improvements might help their linebackers. “It has a lot to do with it,” Reese said when asked if the quality of defensive linemen could help the linebacking corps. “If you have some big space eaters up front, the linebackers can make a lot more plays. So it sure helps to have guys to take up a lot of blocks instead of having linemen chipping up your linebackers. So we hope this will help. “ Train
JMFP
The "let's hope improving other positions will make our linebackers less shitty" approach. Interesting.
Nas
The "let's hope improving other positions will make our linebackers less shitty" approach. Interesting. No he's saying we have a glaring need at MLB ONLY.. as we have Sintim and Boley already.. he is saying the only LB worth a damn was picked before we got to him... so why pick a linebacker just for the sake of picking one when they just won't help us? He's saying the MLB can be addressed both at a later round or later in the offseason as teams are not done wheeling and dealing.

I don't think that's what he's saying at all: What Joseph isn’t, though, according to Reese, is a pass rusher, though Reese allowed, “He is disruptive. He can push the pocket and push offensive linemen back into the quarterback’s lap.” The Giants are hoping that Joseph brings to the defense many of the same qualities that former DT Fred Robbins brought in terms of quickness and penetration. “What we were able to do was to penetrate and to keep people off the linebacker level,” said head coach Tom Coughlin about the benefits Robbins brought to the defense that he hopes to see from Joseph. “No one was being pushed back into the linebacker depth and that’s what has to be re-established again – keep some people clean so they can go to the ball carrier. Storm
You can hope in one hand and shit in the other...we all know which one fills up first. You need a playmaker at every level of the defense, period. Hell, we don't even have a guy that's familiar with signal calling, not that a rookie would help, but a crafty veteran would, but I honestly doubt we grab one after the seeming lack of concern from Reese and Coughlin about not having a middle linebacker.
