Arrington or not, LB in the first round. That's all I have to say about that.
-
He's used to being on a team that overpays for players while the Giants organization doesn't budge that easily. Maybe he'll come crawling back but if we do take him we better not pay an arm and a leg for him.
I don't want to overpay for him either, but there is always a deal that suits both parties and I think that it's worth working through to get the guy.
-
I think he just said that as a cover up so everyone wouldn't know that he's truely a greedy bastard.
Eh, I'm not so sure. Yeah, he's looking for a sizable payday (just like every other FA out there), there's no doubt, but I definitely think that he would like that shot to go against his old team twice a year. There's no way I think he's getting JP money, just don't see it with the attitude he had in Wash. Of course, I think that was an issue he had with that organization. 1 problem with 1 organization doesn't really prove to be a track record. Could very well be an isolated thing. But I'm sure that there are ways to build those types of things into contracts.

I agree with you that the Giants will draft a linebacker with their first pick, and DT with the second pick.
Regardless of whether we get Arrington or not?
-
Am I the only one who is thinking that we are in need of both a free agent linebacker AND a day 1 draft pick linebacker?
I think if we pick up a free agent linebacker, then we'll go DT in the first and LB in the second. If we don't get that free agent linebacker, then we'll go LB in the first and DT in the second. Of course, the caliber of the free agent linebacker could come into play as well. For example, if we re-sign Greisen, then we could still go LB in the first.

Yes Tiki had a carreer year but so did Ty Law and Ty Law is no Spring Chicken. I am not tking anything away from either guy but from a managerial standpoint I think that you have to worry about the near future because I think that we may have "Dynasty" material.
I'm as big a Giants fan as the next guy, but also a realist. We haven't won a single SB in what, 15 years. The word dynasty is just a hair, just a tiny bit, premature don't you think.
I'm simply saying that we prepare for life after Tiki with a first round pick next year. After the year that he just had, there's no need to replace him now. Tiki will play this coming year and probably the year after, and if we draft his replacement next year, it will give the replacement a year of tutelage under Tiki before he's expected to start.
Furthermore, I'd be willing to bet that we only have one more major FA acquisition possible. I would hope that it's OLB or DT, but it appears that backup QB isn't out of the question either. Regardless of the final FA moves, OLB and DT should be the first two rounds of the draft as they are the two thinnest positions we have available at the moment.

I think he signs with the Giants over any team that will only pay him a little more...Arrington wants to play with the Giants, who he thinks has a chance to go far, next to Antonio Pierce
And let's not forget the fact that he's stated openly he'd prefer to stay in the NFC East.

Yeah, I too think it's just a year too early to think RB. I'm glad we got Jacobs to spell Tiki here and there. I just wish we'd use Jacobs a little more in every down situations, not just short yardage, so that he could show us a little more of what he offers. It should give us a better idea as to what direction we should go in next year's draft.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Tiki have a career year last year? Wasn't last year the best, or at least among the best of his career?

Should probably move Tyree from RFA to Re-signed

I don't really understand our interest in Keyshawn if he isn't going to be a #1 or #2. Burress is definitely a top 2 WR on our Giants and I can't see Toomer getting dropped to #3. So I'm just not sure where they were planning on putting Keyshawn if he were to sign here.
I definitely think that more effort should be directed in the direction of LB or DT. Keyshawn would be a nice addition, but I can't help but think that there are other priorities.
-
All they have to do with Eli is knock that 12 mil down to say 5 mil, give him a 7 mil bonus. The bonus gets spread over the remainder of his contract just like his initial signing bonus, lessens the cap hit this year. Might have to give him an extra mil or two to do it right by him, but again, spread over the rest of his contract years through 2010 isn't too bad.
-
Wouldn't mind him if he came with a gag order.
-
No way we spend 3 draft picks on 1 position. 2 max, and 1 each day at the most.
-
Might mean bad news when the CBA makes it's next round depending upon who they put into the position. I'm hoping that it is an 'old school' football guy and not some new preppy guy.
-
I look at it more as who would you rather have on your team...would you rather have Eli Manning at QB or Drew Bledsoe at QB, or would you rather have Terrel Owens and Terry Glen or Plaxico Burress and Amani Toomer.
Then "Matchup" is a pretty poor word choice.
-
Never understood when evaluating matchups you'd pit their O-line against our O-line. If you really want to look at matchups, you have to pit our O-line against their D-line and their O-line against our D-line. Look at things like our WRs against their DBs and their WRs against our DBs. It's not like Strahan will be lining up against Kearse. Just doesn't make sense to me.
-
It sucks. I was kinda hoping we'd take a stab at the guy.
-
I want a free agent linebacker (Arrington, Peterson) and a free agent defensive tackle (obviously not a big name guy).
-
Rocky resigned with Seattle. Sam can be the short term solution.....we can get someone this year in the later rounds and FA next year.
I missed that about Rocky. I'm really not interested in a short term solution at this point. If you do too much of that and it doesn't work, you're royally fucked for the future.
-
I'd rather have that window-licking ear biter (yeah, I know he was autistic, just being mean for the moment) who drained the 6 3-pointers represent me in a fucking spelling bee, than have Tyree at CB.
-
Sam Adams would only be a one, maybe two year solution. Would much rather have Rocky Bernard, but he'll likely be too expensive. LB is a much bigger priority at this point.
-
I'd like to see a free agent linebacker signed AND a 1st round draft pick.
-
Have heard nothing of the like, but I can't see us making that move. At least I hope not. We gave him that chance once and he bolted. I would hope that we'd remember that. Then again, if he agreed to the league minimum for the next two years, I wouldn't be opposed to it.
-
I don't know about that one. We lost how many LBs last year in a span of how many weeks? The only thing we really could have done differently was IR Green earlier in the season.
I realize we were decimated by injuries and that those who were forced to fill in didn't do that great, a direct reflection of the lack of depth.
Now that Free Agency is settled here is my revised Mock

Wouldn't mind Zemaitis, but definitely not in the second. I've seen him slated 3rd or lower. There would be much better CBs available in the second. Wright's heart and effort have been questioned, which is more than concerning. I like Sims in the first though. Looking at Claude Wroten in the second, but doubtful he'll drop.
