  1. Sorry man, but I totally disagree with you. Willie is a student of baseball. It would be absolutly insane to put the winning run at the plate in the bottom of the ninth intentionally. You have your 10 million dollar closer on the mound, and you go after the guy whos up to finish the game, no matter who it is.
  2. It says on Mets.com that Willie is juggling the rotation, so it will be Pedro, Glavine, Trachs. Zambrano is being pushed back to face the Nats at Shea.
  3. I think we NEED Beltran back and healthy so we can put our regular batting order on the field. The runs will follow. We did put up 9 yesterday though. The pitching just needs to hold opposing teams to 3...especially the Braves.
  4. What happened to Bannisters leg? Any news? Can't watch at work.
  5. Floyds hit was a SHOT! Last thing I saw before i fell asleep. Sweet dreams
  6. Check out this thread, http://www.sportswrath.com/index.php?showtopic=4145
  7. Oh nice, rub it in. Way to be modest.
  8. What was the reason for walking Bonds earlier? The guys hittin .229 and can't even get close to low and away pitches.
  9. Why the love for Heath Bell? I don't remember him doing much of anything for the Mets. I agree we are in quite a predicament with VZ. While I continue to think Heilman deserves a chance to start, there really is no one to plug into his spot in the pen. The only posibility is getting some middle relief from a team thats desperate for a back of the rotation starter. Could happen right........guys?..........guys?
  10. ______________W L ERA G GS CG SHO SV SVO IP H R ER HR HBP BB SO . A Heilman* NYM 2 3 4.71 7 7 1 1 0 0 42.0 38 22 22 5 1 13 34 7 games started really isn't enough to write him off as a solid starter. This guy definately has potential IMO.
  11. oof. that certainly does sweeten the pot, but there is something about home grown talent, especially a guy who is a lifelong met fan. I know that's thinking with my heart as a fan but.......I guess thats why I'll never be a GM
  12. I don't think we ever gave Heilman enough time to be consistent. Usually pitchers start strong in the first 2 starts, then stumble a little, then settle in. At least thats the pattern I've seen. I don't think Heilman ever got comfortable enough to settle in.
  13. I know this isn't the right section, but I know u come here all the time. Way to get quoted on the Giants official website re: Arrington! Nice post. Kudos to you sir
  14. ESPN radio reported that Minaya said the proposal was so rediculous he wouldn't even mention it to the Wilpons. If the Mets traded Wright, the fallout would be tremendous. Wright is gonna be an awesome player for a long time. Willis is a great pitcher, but I don't want anyone at that cost.
  15. I'm not being PC. I in no way think he should be fired for what he said. I think the people in our country as a whole are to freakin sensative about things other people say. We need to get a sense of humor about things before political correctness destroys all humor, which is badly needed in the world. I don't like KH because he's an arrogant asshole who can't stop talking about himself.
  16. In case you didn't see it on espn.com, check this out: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?i...000000000100000
  17. I think almost every Mets fan out there was upset with this deal when it happened. It's been destined to fail since the ink hit the signature line.
  18. yep. definately struggling. he has the lowest on base percentage of all the starters also i think. Way to work out the walk there though.
  19. Was he smoking in the on deck circle? What a dink
  20. Plax, u hate Heilman? I think he should be one of our starters. u have a certain incedent u hold against him? Cliff needs a big hit here
  21. Agreed. KH makes me cringe when he talks. My girlfriend thinks he is a douche. I wonder if he and RD are gonna alternate road trips. The other night when KH was talking about that 14 inning game in 86, he was like "I made an amazing doulble play, I hit a rope in the 14 inning...."
  22. He only had bases loaded cuz that one strikeout pitch got away from Castro, and D. Wright bumbled a double play ball. He gave up one weak single in 2 shutout innings. I think he's getting himself right, which is great news for our pen.
