I would only re-sign Collins if we can get him for below $8mm per year, or on a one year deal.

I would NOT cut Vernon at a time where our defense has no other pass rushers and many other gaping holes as well, but I would see if he'll restructure.

I would be open to the giants drafting a QB if after evaluating they think they have their future QB in this draft. I'd be interested in evaluating Daniel Jones, Ryan Finley, Lock, Haskins, Grier, etc.

I like the idea of trading back and getting more picks. Frankly, nobody at #6 currently impresses me all that much, and the guys I'd like I think will all go top 5.

In my view, investing in the OL is priority #1, and I think needs to be a combination of draft picks and free agents. Next priorities are DB's, pass rushers, DL and LB depth.

I despise the notion and idea that we should simply assume we'll be able to get Tua, Herbert, Frohm, etc in next year drafts; that they're necessarily better than the top prospects in this years draft, or that we'll be in a position to draft them.

I want Collins moved. Over the Cap has him listed as a Free Safety which is ludicrous to me since he really can't cover. He seems way more of a rush/run stopping LB albeit a small one.

Vernon spends more time on the sidelines with random ankle injuries than he does on the field getting phantom pressure and accumulating soul crushing penalties. I want him replaced... not just gone.

Agreed on the QB part. I have no issue with drafting one that jumps out to us or riding with Eli next year. The only thing I'm opposed to is bringing in a free agent TO START. If Eli goes/retires and we bring in a FA to back up a rookie I'd be fine with it.

After the National Championship I'm not really sold on any QB next year... especially considering what Trevor Lawrence showed and what Tua didnt, BUT they all have a full season to change my mind and if my plan actually happened we'd have trade chips to move around next year and get ourselves I to position.

  2. Kyle Lauletta is not an NFL caliber quarterback. I'm not even sure he's a capable backup. While I approve of most of the GIants' offseason moves, he's a real head-scratcher.

I dont think he is either. That little caveat is in there solely to appease anyone who thinks Lauletta is the better option or the bunch that think the only thing wrong with this team is Eli.

  3. I dont envy Gettleman this offseason but I trust he'll make the right decisions. That being said I still have my own idea of how this should work.

Here's my hope... Eli's gonna be here in 2019 and Iirc u can't just have a player in the NFL take a pay cut without a restructure which would mean signing him for another year. Give him one more year and spread the current deal over this year and next. So Eli's under contract thru 2020 at HALF his current cap number(so $12M avg). That should put us around $44M in cap space.

From there, bring back Collins on a "prove u can stay healthy" deal, bring back Corey Coleman, CUT VERNON'S BUMASS, and bring in the best C (currently looking at KC C Mitch Morse. Currently only 26 and entering free agency although idk much else about him) and Edge rusher in the FA market.

Instead of sitting at 6 we trade back to somewhere between 15-20 picking up a 1st and say a 4th or 5th next year along with a 2nd or 3rd this year and begin bolstering the OL, DL and Safety spots. We should have 11 fn draft picks including the returning supplemental pick we made last offseason... without including any hypothetical trades. That puts us in position to make a run this year (and if Eli can't cut it... give Lauletta a shot with a decent roster) AND put us in position to trade up for the best QB available in 2020. #boom

Thoughts? Counter strategy? There's more to this but I'm nodding off cause work was a nightmare.

  4. After watching last night how Clemson carved them up, it didn't help Jonah Williams stock at all.

Although I was ecstatic watching Alabama get torched, THIS disappointed me.

  5.

supposedly he's a better guard. So long as he's in position he'll be an upgrade on OhMommy. But Greco looks lost out there at center, like he's rolling the dice on which way to slide (as did Halapio, to be fair.... I actually thought Greco was an improvement in that respect).

The thing that really worries me about those breakdowns is, who is making the protection calls? What we see there is a protection scheme that gave zero fucks about Fletcher Cox..... And how could that be?

Not sure but there's definitely a communication and execution issue. I believe it was the Cowboys game, Eli pointed out the Mike and the whole right side of the OL ignored him.

  6. Anway... I'm not high on the Sanders comparisons because that'll inevitably lead to a player vs player comparison and I REALLY don't wanna go there. That being said, his performances give me chills and make me wonder about all those that were saying we should've taken a rb later in the draft and question their sanity.

I wouldn't say we're healthy... I don't recall how if ODB started game 1 but our best DE only played one game and Where the hell is Engram? Oh and our center was lost for the season.

There were moments in game 1 where Beckham made Jax look silly.

Engram was supposedly day to day and then that became 7 weeks.

It's too early to judge Solder but I would have to believe he's not part of a mid or long term plan... we had to get him because our OL was just atrocious... The Giants need to draft at least 2 potential starters at OL and one of them will have to be an eventual left tackle....

Eventual yea. The question is do we have an out in Solder's contract at some point or are we riding the whole thing out?

  9. The entire right side of the OL, Edge rusher (high pick cause Vernon seems to be making up for all the games he didn't miss before coming here), we need a real FS and probably a CB. I'd also love to see us bring in an Amani Toomer clone at some point.

  10.

Thats because the OL couldnt buy even a couple yrds for Saquon. He was repeatedly getting hit in the backfield. its just that the kid is so good that he always makes the first 1-2 tacklers miss - ALWAYS!! The OL could neither run nor pass block. They need to get Saquon into more tosses and stretch plays and let the kid create something.

This was also the case against Jacksonville. It only takes 1.

It is about knowing the guy next to you is going to do what he is supposed to be doing so you can focus on what you have to do. It is the second game of the season, it is the second time this offense has been on the field together. We talk about the offensive line gelling... these mistakes are just a sign of them not being there yet. This is where I think running the ball going to help get the offensive line working together a bit faster.

This aggravated me more than anything else Sunday night. Barkley touched the ball 25 times but only 11 of those were carries. In fact out of our 60+ offensive plays we only rushed 17 times... and 2 of those were QB Sneaks. Why in God's name are we having an aging QB drop back 40+ times when the OL CLEARLY can't handle the rush being thrown at them?
  12.

Isn't it weird picks 6s happen to Eli more than any QB I can think of? How about avoiding death and throws ball away instead of gambling?

btw very funny bringing up Skip and Shannon...

Fwiw he had a WR open he just will always have that Favre mentality to try and make a play when shit is falling apart.

Those 2 were killing me yesterday.

  13.

No.. the game was a lot longer than one play... and even if he hadn't muffed it, no guarantee we would have scored a TD.... The came had a few drops...a pick 6... and RT who's incompetent... etc... Shit if you want to blame this on one thing, blame it on Eli throwing the pick 6... he's usually good for 4 of those a year.

Ok Skip. Or considering the conversation today... ok Shannon.

Drops back, has to immediately avoid a painful death, throws pass, pass gets batted and magically falls right to Myles Jack... but it's all Eli's fault we lost?

  14. Dealing in hypotheticals, you lose because you put the waiver wire scrub back there. I win because Im having Beckham return punts there.

Or, hypothetically, Beckham or Barkley go out there and do the same dumb shit the kid did and we still lose. The issue is the game never should've come down to this one play. We had plenty of opportunities to win and if this kid comes back and wins us a game with a return then this will be forgotten.

  15. I like that uni.

Why do they call it color rush? Sounds gay

NFL marketing scheme. Every team has a color rush uniform. We're just too old school of an organization to do anything beyond our all whites.
