  1.

46 Super Bowls....only 5 guys are two time MVPs...Bart Star, Terry Bradsaw, Joe Montana, Tom Brady.....and Eli Fucking Manning.

Yeah...I think he has a pretty good shot at the Hall.

    C. wagon

I don't know bro. He better grab a couple more to make sure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. I wish I knew where to go to bet... I wanted to bet on them against GB in the regular season... of course we lost that one thanks to the refs not the Packers. And I would have gladly put in a $1,000 for them to win the SB at that return. Btw, when I'm nervous.. it's a good thing. I never like feeling confidnet only to crash and burn.

Nas that's like saying, "I wish I knew where I could score some crack" or "Maybe I'll start smoking cigs just for the heck of it".

Getting into gambling is a bad idea.

  3. i went gambling in atalntic city tonight, drove all the home..walked in at 6am, this girl who thinks

she is my girlfriend was asleep in my bed...i woke her up..told her to leave..tried to get some sleep myself..i cannot...now I have a professional coming over to rock the mic..hopefully that will do the trick..might have to take her for the day..and yes, I have issues.

yes well I have only respect.

  4. I hear what you are saying about TE but lets face it, as the contact rules on receivers has changed, size has come closer to. not equal, but closer to raw speed in terms of value.

Obviously these are extreme examples but if Grahm or Finley routinely line up in the slot, are they TEs, WRs or some kind of new hybrid that seeks to take advantage of contact rules in the middle of the field?

  5. Dog, First and Ten has all but admitted he has been less than stellar. I don't have the energy to put people on ignore and sift through the posts. But First and Ten is now on my 1 line rule: I will not read anymore than the first line of his post until he earns more. He needs to up his game and prove he is worth my time.

lmao. That's like "punishing" somebody by no longer shitting on their carpet.

  6.

I have a lot of love for Dave Diehl. If he was such a great LT, he wouldn't have lost his job to Will Beatty, who is no All-Pro himself.

Among other things, Diehl has a tiered contract that pays him more for playing LT than any of the other positions on the line. Given how tight things where cao wise this may have played a role in the decision to move him inside. I think they also needed to find out exactly what they have or don't have in Beatty.

  7. depends on who you talk to, and the dog isnt being sarcastic...some say north, some say central.

more evidence that S(he) might actually be Hot Dog Shannon.

I believe She got her start at an establishment called Cannon Balls in Great Meadow which is, of course, in the very Northern reaches of Central Western Jersey.

This explains quite a bit actually.

  8. I remember having an italian hotdog that consisted of the potatoes, peppers, mustard and ketchup, and it was two hotdogs in a larger (sub) roll.

This sounds like an Americanized version of a Giambotta. Used to score the Giambotta Hero at this joint called Little Charlie's on Kenmare Street. It was basically sliced up grilled sausage ( not hot dogs ), some fried potato, eggplant and zucchini and some grilled onions and peppers.

    A nice sandwich.

  9. I suspect that both coaches and both QBs have a full understanding of how precious this opportunity is. I don't think either group will want it more or be more focused than the other. Both teams have key guys who have been wandering in the wilderness SB wise since the last time around in '07 / '08.

I think if we can limit the run on first down and force them to be 1 dimensional we will be ok on D.

On the offensive side of the ball we should be able to score. Just play clean, don't turn it over and let Eli do his thing.

Of course taking care of the ball is a big "if". The Patriots where +17 in give / take ratio this year which I believe was 3rd in the league.

  10. Nice write up in this week's TMQ

Now the 2011 Tuesday Morning Quarterback Non-Quarterback Non-Running Back NFL MVP -- David Diehl, left tackle of the Jersey/A Giants.

On his best days Diehl is not the NFL's best left tackle, or even as good, athletically, as Matt Light, who will start at left tackle for the Patriots. (Light was the 2007 TMQ NQB NRB MVP, and my award does not allow repeat recipients.) What Diehl brings to the table is consistently high-level performance. He rarely allows sacks, rarely misses run blocks and never takes downs off. Watch tape and you'll see that even in NFL big games, there are an amazing number of downs on which at least one lineman simply brushes his man and then stands there doing nothing. Diehl never stands there doing nothing. He's always working.

Drafted by the Giants in the fifth round out of Illinois, Diehl became an immediate starter at left tackle, and has remained the team's left tackle starter for nine seasons. He has missed only four games to injuries in his career, starting 150 of a possible 154 games. Thus he's not just a good player -- he has been a good player for almost every game for nine years.

This year's NFC Pro Bowl choices at offensive tackle are Jerome Bushrod, Jason Peters and Joe Staley. They're all top performers but consider their starts -- Peters has started 98 games, Staley has started 68 games, Bushrod has started 49 games. Diehl has performed at a high level significantly longer than any of them.

Offensive linemen tend to be noticed mainly when they blow their assignments. Diehl has started for nine seasons for one of the NFL's highest-profile clubs and drawn hardly any notice: The reason is that he doesn't blow his assignments. Diehl is the kind of player who will never hear the crowd chant his name -- but with him at the most important line position in football, the Giants have won the Super Bowl once, won their division thrice, and take the field for the Super Bowl again this coming Sunday.

Congratulations to David Diehl, the 2011 Tuesday Morning Quarterback Non-Quarterback Non-Running Back NFL MVP.

  11. Is it true that you call yourself the Itailian hot dog because of the follwing?

You enjoy a rectum filled with italilian hot dogs.

You use Italian hot dogs to practice controling your gag reflex.

Your a big FIFA fan and dream of meeting the entire Napoli soccer team in a russian bath house?

I'll go with number two. (S)he might even be the former North Jersey Legend herself, Hotdog Shannon.

  12. Past circusmatnce in this case are relivent they played this year. Certain elements of those games remain consistent. But I see where you are coming from.

I agree that the week 9 match up has some bearing on this game.

SB from 4 years ago? Not so much.

I think it is the same story for us as it has been all year. If we can slow down the running game on 1st down and take care of football possession on offense and returns we will win the game.

  13.

I just find it hard to believe Bill will lose to any NFL team three times in three meetings statistically things are stacked against the Giants I would think.

Only if you believe in path dependency.

It's the old thing about flipping a fair coin. You would predict that if you flipped 100 times you would get 50 heads and 50 tails. If you flip heads 99 times in a row however, the 100th toss is still 50 - 50.

  14. here is some food for thought. How many teams have beaten the bill belichick run pats three times out of the past three meetings? I'm suprsied the talking heads haven't been ringing that one home.

Yes, especially in light of the fact that they both coached under Parcel's for 3 years culminating with the 1990 / 91 SB win over the Bills.

These are two guys that have to have a fair amount of insight into each other's coaching style and focus. Really interesting story in there although neither guy would have anything but platitudes for their opposite number going in.

  15. How can you not be. The past three times these teams have played it's been a nail biter. Fuck the spread and the Madden simulations. I can;t take the anticipation anymore........................................

I am actually not that nervous, which of course makes me really, really nervous.

  16. The Patriots are a potent team. All year I've been hearing how they don't have weapons, which is ridiculous. They are loaded with weapons, and most people just underrate the players they have, because they don't have a traditional #1 like they had in 2007 in Randy Moss.

This is a team used Aaron Hernandez as a running back 5 times for 61 yards. It's a team that has the TE that had the most prolific season ever, in the history of the NFL. I mean, read that again. Better than the Shannon Sharpe seasons, Gates, Tony Gonzalez's, I would say that is a pretty awesome weapon. The stable of running backs they have can all hurt you, because you have to respect the 2 TE's, Welker, and Branch. Stevan Ridley hasn't really been used, but I'm worried about him big time in this game. He is a terrific player that can hurt you, they've just kept him in the back pocket. Even Edelman, I would be surprised if I DIDN'T see him on a reverse in this game.

They do a lot of different things and they have a plethora of weapons, and they are well-coached. If you drop your guard with any of them, they'll hurt you bad. Giants will have to stay well-disciplined this game and maintain their gaps. I think Brady is going to rely on some quick passes and they will throw in some screens and reverses to try and slow down the pass rush.

also, much like us, their defense improved dramatically when a couple of key guys returned healthy down the stretch.

  17. FWIW: The AccuScore simulation released the morning after the Conference Finals had the Pats winning about 2/3rds of the time by an average of a little less than 4 points.

AccuScore say their results are based on the results of 10000 game simulations. They don't go into more detail than that but it sure sounds like a basic "Monte Carlo" simulation to me.

Does this mean it is truly "accurate"? Nope. It just tells you what is "most probable". There is also no way to know what biases may exist in their game model. Do they give additional weight to recent game stats or do they just look at straight numeric averages etc.

In light of this though, I did find it interesting that the line opened Pats -3.5 ( lines up with the AccuScore result )
