  1. All this restructuring has to hurt us later. It's like living on credit.

yes. borrowing from Peter to pay Paul as it where.

The hope is that with the new TV deals in 2014 there will be a jump in the cap though.

  2. Think I just heard on NFL network that the Redskins, WIlliams former DC job, had a bounty system in place as well.

Who knows is this blows open we may be "moving up" two spots in the draft.

yes. saw that this morning. hopefully the skins will be punished as well.

  3. saw an interesting snippet on Joel Dreesen this morning. If the price is right, this guy could represent nice "insurance" at TE.

Dreessen (HOU, 6″4, 243) is also a FA. He is an fine TE that would fit as well (reminds me of Boss), some hands and a solid blocker. He took over 800 snaps last season, 2/3rd as a blocker, and still produced “good enough for a NYG TE” numbers : 28 rec for 353y and 6TD.

    He’s 30 though.

  4. I don't know if anyone was watch but the Giants' TE Coach Mike Pope was running the drills for the TEs at the combine yesterday. Hopefully that gives us a little inside info come draft day.

Amazing how many of these top TE prospects have never worked out as an in-line blocker.

A lot of the kids now have been playing in a Shotgun Spread since Pop Warner.

  5. I wouldnt be surprised if NFL players were giving an mandatory IQ test or a basic literacy test how many of them would score incredibly low.

It's not hard to fail when your leading your college to whatever of the many stupid fucking college championships out there.

They do. Sort of. It's called the Wonderlic Test. ( Sample Questions ) Like the IQ test, it is meant to measure Cognitive Aptitude.

While there are a whole host of reasons why the score on this type of test is essentially meaningless for anyone much over 10, it is some what stunning that Mario only got a 6. ( Bob McGinn of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported that Manningham scored a 6 out of 50 on the Wonderlic exam. --- wikipedia MM page )

  6. funny. I think it was 1stentem that was talking about the lack of coverage on their history a week and change back but on media day there was a British reporter asking Bellichek about it.

He talked about how for 3 years back on the Giants in the 80s, his guys would mimic the opponent for Tom's guys and then Tom's guys would mimic the opponent for his and how much time they spent watching tape together and working together to give each other the desired looks in practice as well as coaching up their own guys for their systems. You could tell that he held Tom in very high regard and it sure seems to be mutual.

  7.

i still want a younger HC who does not have these mid season collapses

In retrospect, it wasn't a collapse it was a quickening. In 5 weeks they played both #1 seeds ( GB, NE ) as well as the NFC #2 and #3 ( SF, NO ).

They beat NE and lost to both GB and SF on the last play of the game. Not really that bad when you think about it.

Add to that They came together and grew from it instead of going in the tank? That is a testament to the coach.

  8. I'm betting Peyton is a Dolphin. I heard a report that Dolphins' owner Stephen Ross is infatuated with the idea of bringing him in. There will be a lot of talk about Flynn because of the head coach hire of Philbin, but if the big boss wants Peyton, the big boss will probably get Peyton. Come to think of it, what are the odds of the Dolphins winning the Super Bowl next year? I might need to get in on that!

there was some speculation yesterday that Arizona signed Frank Reich as WR coach as a first step towards bidding for Peyton

  9. I think that Eli's a lock if he maintains 3500+ yards and 25+ TD seasons while limiting interceptions around 15 for the next 8-10 years.

If Eli were to stop playing today, it's borderline given the 2 championships.

yes at 31, his best 4 or 5 years are still in front of him and he will still have a few left after that.

If he stays healthy he will have the longevity numbers to go with the rings and personal achievements.

  10. If only it were that easy. I would have been much more willing to bet a Giants SB last year than this year. The odds should really be 100-1. It is damn near impossible to repeat.

Correlation does not equal causality as you damn well no LW.

While it may be statistically unlikely for a team to win 2 SB's in a row there is no path dependency. Having won this year does not have any more effect on next year than a prior coin flip has on a subsequent coin flip.

As for why the odds are where they are? It is a parimutuel system. Simply a function of where the money is bet. Nothing more, nothing less.

  11. TE: this position is a mess now that Ballard and Beckum are doubtful to be ready for 2012 since they tore there AcLs in February. I don't know what We can do here, however I'm sure we can get a mediocre TE in FA or maybe even a

    Stud via draft.

bad year to be needing at TE.

After the way 2011 played out, just about every team in the league will be looking at TEs

  12. Chase definitely earned the right to come to camp next year.

That having been said, if Reese feels like he is going to continue with youth " with a lot of upside" in Williams, Jones, Herzlich and maybe a draft pick, Chase might yet again be the odd man out.

If that is the case, Reese should tell him now and set the man up to get paid in free agency while his value is at it's career high.
