  1. First, Shockey does perform thusly noted by his consitant vote to the PB. Second, since you don't watch football, you may have missed the recent talks on the player/ownership situation. Teams are looking to make money any way possible and merchandising is critical to revenue. The team will also live largely on sponsorhip deals and this will be dictated by their distinctiveness, marketability, success rate, and desity of their viewing population. Shock is integral to that as well as a bit of our on the field success. This is more babble from one guy, signing in with a number of identities and then writing very poorly thought-out thoughts repeatedly. I'm embarrassed for you.
  2. This opening day will be highly awaited, but I don't want to start with the Colts. Perhaps you've forgotten exactly how good they are and we're starting a new D (basically). It will be a good test, but if we lose, the Frighteningly Dopey Foursome will be in full effect. Even if we end up on top of our division and a better showing in the post season, with an early loss, it will be fodder for the foolish.
  3. Working out with the team is not and has not been a pre-requisite of team or any team throughout an off-season. Free agency has ensured that people keep there homebase wherever they call home or whever there's a tax advatage. I don't recall hearing about other tandems being together all off season. I mean look at it objectively, this MB engages with you each and every day (inside and outside of the season) and your posts continually suck. I don't see what being together all the time would do to rectify the fact that you're not very intelligent about football. I also don't think you need months of time to get timing down. Eli's paying attention to his footwork and that will be a huge difference for us.
  4. The thought crossed my mind, but he's going to be overpriced and that bum wheel will not make him fast and that's what we need. I say draft for youth and speed. If anything, I may not have brought in Plax and would have gone for even more speed, but that's just me and that ship has sailed. Could have waited a year and gotten T.O., but even writing that hurts my head.
  5. I wonder who (on our active roster, sells the most jerseys)? I'll bet it's #80. I'll also bet that being sent to the Pro Bowl in each (except one) of his years with our team ensures that he's not going anywhere. I have never seen less football accumen than is posted on this MB by the author of this thread. You sir are a bafoon.
  6. I hate to hear that to anyone. There's no telling if anyone (even those who get drafted) would be successful, however, I hate to think of it in the event that it keeps you out of sports for the rest of your life. I also hated it for Joe T. It was just bad. These things happen though and I suppose it's the price of sports fame. You may suffer the worst of the worst and people have broken arms, legs, backs, and necks. What's worse is the people have died playing football, so it can be a brutal sport. Of course, anyone whose played football knows that those are the memories that you look back on. I would've hated to have all my health and none of the glory from scoring TD's since I was a kid all the way through high school.
  7. Since the question of Eli starting isn't a question, let's stay on track. I would really like someone better than Fiedler on point. I always thought he was sub-par. Although I don't like him either, perhaps Tommy Maddox; at least he's game worn, despite his dismal performance last season.
  8. Enough of the nonsense, back to sensible talk about our back-up. Our best true back-up scenario would have been Greise, though I think he still postiions himself to be a starter. KC is the best overall FA Qb out there, but that's a very unlikely scenario (financially and relationship-wise). At this point Fielder's not a bad choice, though I detest his lack of skill. Frankly, we needed a Kitna-like guy. I think our best option may be Fiedler though he's never done spit so I find him an incredible source for QB'ing insight. Perhaps we can get a servicable back up (more than a mentor) say the back up for the Titans (Voleck) or that back up for the Chiefs?
  9. Chris Simms has done precisely what Eli did this season, so let's all calm down. He's gone to one post season game and lost. That's all that matters, so let's not line up to fluff him just yet. Otherwise, you can also say (safely) that Phil is a strong arm thrower. He's not weak and that's not accurate. He also didn't have bad offensive lines, he was not highly mobile and Phil was a pocket passer who often waited to the last minute to throw and absorbed the blow: this is what most QB's won't/can't do these days. I really admire Phil and if you measure him quantitatively alone (he doesn't make it), however if there were quality points like the Minnesota game, then you'd know that he was a difference maker.
  10. Phil actually did and does have a strong arm. I recall, just prior to the SB this year, Dan Patrick remarked about Theismann, Simms, and some of the other former elite and he said that Phil still had a rocket. Phil's arm was well-preserved and his work stands for itself. Not only would he have been the leader of Bill Walsh's 49er's had they had a an earlier pick in 79, but Phil may have had gaudy stats. As it goes, he did keep pace with Montana on a couple of season for passing yards and that's a tough one when you're a running team, especially in the red zone. He should go in, but I'm sure it won't happen.
  11. I've always conteded that he deserves to be in. I realize, of course, that this is debated only in the Ny/NJ locale, since (I'm out of state) I know it doesn't get much (if any) air play out in my neck of the woods. I'd say that his competitive passing yards (with Montana) while we were a running team is significant. I'd also say that his longevity is important. I've heard many of the other reasons why not including the obvious, however I'd be interested to hear the educated posters of this MB post their opinions. Of course, if Joe Namath is in then I'm perplexed at how Phil is so easily discounted.
  12. Do other MB's and fanbases have this type of idiot crew? I've just never heard so much ill-conceived nonsense. Thank goodness for the good posters, they balance out this type of silliness. Moreover, I can't believe the consistency of one person posting as four separate people and doing it so consistently. My hats off, you have a lot of time on your hands and none of it is spent learning about football despite your repeated posts on the subject. Kudos, your community college schedule must afford you great access to posting on the Internet.
  13. KJ is not fast and though his hands are good he's not the primary WR. He's the possesion guy, so you're not talking about him replacing PB, you're talking about him replacing AT. Pay closer attention would ya'?
  14. Yes, you keep Plax, they don't have the same role you dope. As for taking KJ, well we already have a decent possession WR with AT. I think we need to replace Carter with a speed WR better hands. KJ is a big name, decent downfield blocker, and he's big. He's also not a great addition to our speed offer and two really old WR's aren't a big help.
  15. If it were not for the consistent rantings of the 4 Goofballs, this is a sensible topic. I'd say that it's too early to tell whether his offseason moves are wise or not. Now if we don't go on the replace Eli tangent (since it's not going to happen), then we can look at the offseason moves. I like the Madision and Demps pick up. I like letting Will Allen go and I think that we were smart to let Lavar go by. We do need a big DT and so I'm not sure what I think about our LB needs as well. We've seldom been a big name FA pick up team, barring ST. Of course, with Feagles retiring, we should have been more active at punter. I think Pierce may have been EA's swansong for FA's, since we destabilized Wash's LB's with that move and then I always liked the drafting of Shockey, that's a huge pick up for us and out of all the K. Winslow's etc. of the past few years, we got the right end of that type of move.

  17. I agree with him and it makes me happy, despite the fact that he's never been on a SB calibre team. No matter though, I believe he may be correct. My only concern is if the Boys get TO and then we have quite a bit to contend with in Big D.
  18. Trollls are different than fans who seek to discuss and debate. I've seen (not one) valid argument about Eli yet that wasn't refuted. It's all something of a negative publicity campaign that gets more and more boring. Of course, I could just ignore them but they author a fair amount of threads and then they visit every other one, so it becomes tedious. I suppose it's all the more proof that it takes all types to make the world go round, however, it wasn't funny 4 years agao when Jakk did it better with his favorite target. The only time I enjoy people with this approach is when it's put to good use against the Eagles.
  19. Players are an investment, so we've spent a lot on Willie Joe already. Rather than cry about him (as some of this Mb does about a number of our players), we should focus on Willie Joe's improved play between this past year and the two previous one's. I'd rather have him mature than have him pull a Cornelius Griffin and just stagnate. Pay attention to the progress, the rotation of personnel, and then you'll see some of the variables affecting our play in the DL. I wouldn't buy a WIllie Joe jersey or anything, but investments mature over time, like Tiki Barber for example
  20. I agree, but then again, I'm not the one who tries (in vain) to convince the fanbase that we should turn tail and run from our QB. The evidence and argument for it is unconvincing. I agreee with your steps for the upcoming weeks and as long as that involves drafting a stud LB and maybe a late round safety, then I'm pleased.
  21. Real fan? You are a real fool. You're absence of forthought is equal to your carelessness in your hypothesis'. Fans like you make fans like me puke. I don't think you're one of the "I learned all about football from Madden" crowd, however you sound more like a frustrated guy who jumped on the band wagon when times for us were good. Perhaps you negleted the other 20 years of the Giants legacy. My advice for you and your 4 other sign ins is to do this: watch 212 this weekend starting on Friday at noon. They're going to have a day of the Giants and perhaps you can learn a little about the team and a lot about football. Take two hours of programming and call back Monday morning. Perhaps then, you're football I.Q. will match your fervor for posting unconvincing nonsense.
  22. If a meteor found the home of the author of this thread, I would lose no sleep. Does every team have such a boisterous dolt?
  23. I'm a little leary of Madison's age and ROnde isn't all that much younger is he? I also prefer experience at CB, but we need someone in his 2nd contact not his 3rd. I worry about keeping up with speed.
