I think that's the discrepancy...if they think they can win with Eli why bother drafting a QB and bypassing a position of need? If they think they can't win with Eli then why bother sticking with him? It's not like this will be the last QB class ever and i'm not sure if it's that great

His schemes are good, situational play calling wasn't. That will problem no problem here since he's just formulating a game plan and Shurmur is calling the plays
-
Thing about QB is they either take one at 2 or they don't take one at all. Hearing Shurmur/Gettleman talk and what they plan on doing, seems like they want road graders in the Oline and be focused on the run game while going with Eli Barkley seems like the fit. I am not sure I am team RB 2 overall though, so maybe it's Nelson. There's talk of them wanting an EDGE as well so I wouldn't be surprised with Chubb. They've been looking for that stand up rusher and really wanted Floyd two years ago, Beasley three years ago

Bettcher from Arizona

500 points on the season

By the way just two years ago Shula led the Panthers to the #1 overall offense and most profiling scoring offenses in the NFL

I don't really mind this since he's going to be the QB coach I could of thought of better names, but... DeFilippo-Wasn't coming here without complete control, experience in play calling is what is holding him back from an HC gig Stefanski-Was blocked anyway, but the feeling was probably mutual. He would of been making essential a lateral move. Minny keeps an insurance policy(see above) and will have him work together with Flip Bevell-Giants aren't the only team that turned down Bevell and there was a reason he was let go in Seattle Staley-No way the Eagles were letting him come here especially after losing Flip and Reich Sean Ryan-A name that didn't come up, but a guy I wanted instead of McTrash in 2014. Was interviewed in Cleveland, but Hue didn't want to hand over play calling duties so he didn't leave Houston. Would of been same situation here All in all you take who's available and Shula isn't that bad. He did solid work work with Cam Sleeper pick to watch for Giants is Josh Allen. He's a big QB and can move around the pocket. Rosen comes with some 'entitlement' issues and is a bit of a statue I think the 2nd pick comes down to Darnold or Allen

This. At least they hired a good defensive coordinator to couple with a offensive minded HC

Pats got rid of Jones, Collins, overpaid to keep McCourty, overpaid Gilmore and Hightower went out for the year. Still I don't think I am that high on Patricia they gave up a ton of yards, but kept teams out of the end zone. Patriots also only played three of the top ten scoring offenses KC(42) NO (20) Pitt (24)

At least the Giants didn't hire Patricia

Does he really suggest they should keep John Jerry? -
Good breakdown of Bettcher here http://nflbreakdowns.com/2015/11/bucannon-minter-cardinals-blitz/

Its more a 2-4-5 like you said its just ends standing up
-
Chandler Jones dominated as the SAM in this scheme and hes 265. I do think think they will look for stand up rushers in the draft
-
Agree I think being a stand up rusher better suits him over being a base end Base D looking at a 2-4-5 WILL-Vernon/Draft pick MIKE- Goodson Moneybacker-Draft pick SAM-JPP/Moss 1t-Tomlinson 0t-Snacks Slot-DRC CBs-Apple/Jenkins SS-Collins FS-Need a honey badger type

Shurmur expected to be next HC of the Giants
Bigblue25 replied to UK-Giantsfan's topic in New York Giants
I give him three seasons since next year is a just toss away year with Eli coming back and being mixed with Shurmurs offense where hes not a fit. Theyll let Shurmur install his system in 2019 with whoever they draft at 2. This franchise just has no balls and will probably be bad for awhile -
This is what I think and Vikes where second in rushing attempts this year. Dalvin Cook looked like a star in Shurmurs scheme. Probably Barkley at 2 and Mason Rudolph at 34. Hell probably let Eli dink and dunk in a lost year then open the offense

I dont. Lets quit being glued to 2007

This is true college is about recruiting. I mean Alabama sucked before Saban because they werent getting top 100 guys like Saban has, heck Saban was 7-6 his first year at Bama -

Part of the NFL being awful is awful coaching. The Titans just hired Mike Vrabel whos been a coordinator all but one year and in that year the Texans were dead last in points allowed. I know you all hate college, but thats where the best coaching is -
Vikings were second in the NFL in rushing attempts. Shurmur definitely likes to run the ball and Dalvin Cook looked well on his way to OROY before his injury it was probably the running game and good defense more so than Keenum. In Cleveland Shurmur took Richardson and then came back up for Weeden, I wonder if the same come happen here draft Barkley then come back up for Jackson

This does seem like the blandest of hires and that pretty much describes Shurmurs personality as well
