Yankees eyeing series sweep vs. Rays

New York (50-35) at Tampa Bay (38-50), 1:15 p.m. ET

New York managed to stay within three games of division-leading Boston with a win over Tampa Bay on Saturday night, and will attempt to put the lock on a series sweep Sunday in the Yankees' final game before the All-Star break.

Kris Wilson will make his first start for New York after taking Shawn Chacon's place in the rotation. Wilson, a righty, was recalled from Triple-A Columbus on Wednesday and pitched two perfect innings at Cleveland as a warmup for Sunday's start. He'd spent time with Kansas City from 2000-03 before his Minor League contract was acquired by the Yankees this season, and owns a 14-9 all-time record and 5.28 ERA in 91 games (19 of them starts). He's faced the Rays four times in his career, resulting in no record and 0.93 ERA in 9 2/3 total innings pitched.

Left-hander Casey Fossum will get the ball for Tampa Bay. Fossum struck out eight Red Sox in his last outing and left with the lead, but was handed a no-decision after his relief surrendered the tying run after Fossum's five-inning start. He's 4-4 with a 4.42 career ERA against New York.

New York controls the all-time record against the Rays, 91-42.

Pitching matchup

NYY: RHP Kris Wilson (0-0, 0.00 ERA)

Before Wednesday's outing, Wilson had not seen action in the Major Leagues since 2003.

TB: LHP Casey Fossum (3-3, 5.03 ERA)

Fossum has a 23.30 career ERA with runners in scoring position and two outs.

Player to watch

Jorge Posada is 6-for-22 (.273) against Fossum, with a double, homer, five RBIs and a walk.

Let's sweep these fuckers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :rock::rock::rock:

Now the White Sox and the Red Sox are in the 17th inning. How pathetic is that...the world champs can't give us one fucking break.

Well I hope the Twins are happy.

:TD:

5 and 0 lead and we still lose to the Devil Rays.
