Kevin Dockery Cut By St. Louis

Defensive tackle Jermelle Cudjo has been promoted to the active roster from the practice squad for the St. Louis Rams. To make room for Cudjo, cornerback Kevin Dockery was released.

Cudjo, an undrafted rookie from NCAA Div. II Central Oklahoma, was on the active roster in Week 1 although he did not dress against Arizona. But when the Rams needed a tight end following Michael Hoomanawanui's ankle injury, Cudjo was cut to make room for Darcy Johnson.

Once he cleared waivers, Cudjo spent the next week and a half on the practice squad. Now that he's back on the active roster there's no doubt he will play in his first NFL game Sunday against Washington. With Clifton Ryan (migraines) and Darell Scott (ankle) out of action, Cudjo will be the only backup Sunday behind starting DTs Fred Robbins and Gary Gibson.

Dockery was signed in the offseason as a free agent from the New York Giants. He had one pass breakup in the season opener against Arziona, but was inactive last week against Oakland because of a hamstring injury. But Dockery practiced last week, albeit only on the scout team and was listed as probable Friday.

His departure leaves rookie Jerome Murphy and Justin King as the Rams' top candidates to play nickel back.

I like Dock, id like to see him back in Blue.

If you're getting cut by the St. Louis Rams......there is something really wrong. Keep him away from the Giants.
