  1. That contract is very affordable for the Eagles. Wish the Giants would have offered something similiar
  2. I'm saying that they already are. JPP had a great year stopping the run, although Tuck wasn't as effective. I think the switch will help Tuck because teams usually run behind their RG and RT, which will now be running towards JPP. I think Connor was picked up to help stop runs through the middle, which this team had trouble containing last year. I think Mundy was just signed for depth purposes, and hopefully to stop that damn read-option.
  3. Check out this passage of the NFP Sunday Blitz (http://www.nationalf...Blitz-4049.html)
  4. I like him as a receiver, but this guy was graded out as the worst blocking TE in the league. A possible concern on offense could be how the Giants try to recover after losing Bradshaw and Bennett, who were both great blockers for their position. Myers and Wilson are not in the same ballpark when it comes to blocking.
  5. What I'm curious of is if Reese looked into Heyward-Bey. I remember him being really fond of Heyward-Bey as a prospect in 2009 when the Giants drafted Nicks.
  6. I don't know why, but this moves reminds me of adding Devin Thomas a few years ago...
  7. I just picked the highest possible number he can take, didn't realize I was disrespecting Barnes like that.
  8. I really like Alonso as a prospect, and I bet we could get him later than the 2nd. He's got some serious concerns on his resume.
  9. This is what I'm starting to think too. He never sounded like he wanted to be back when he was asked during the year. I think it's because the Giants wouldn't let him play in the box as much as he liked. He was always single-deep safety which doesn't give him many opportunities to make big plays. That isn't going to get him paid. He's trying to prove-it on the Eagles for a year for a big pay day.
  10. No thanks. Connor fits better in a 3-4 and doesn't have the speed to play in the middle of a 4-3. Would be a depth move, if anything.
  11. KP played in the following games this year: vs. Dallas, vs. Tampa Bay, @ Carolina, @ Philly (injured), vs. Green Bay, @ Washington (re-injured), vs. Philly Which means he missed the following: vs. Cleveland, @ San Francisco, vs. Washington, @ Dallas, vs. Pittsburgh, @ Cincy, vs. New Orleans, @ Atlanta, @ Baltimore He missed the three games where he was needed the most: Cincy, Atlanta, and Baltimore. He was sorely missed in those games, as the Giants were beaten deep on numerous occasions in each. I don't understand why the details of the contract haven't been released yet. He's already been officially introuduced by the Eagles and had an interview. I just want to see what salary the Giants wouldn't risk on him. I asked one of the Giants beat writers who thinks that he took the veteran's minimum. If that's true, I am going to be PISSED OFF. Why would the Giants trade KP for Mundy if both contracts are the same? I don't want to overreact now because the details aren't out yet, but if that's true, I got some problems with how we are doing business.
  12. The only thing this guy will be replacing is KP's number. I'm mad about Mundy taking #21. 21 has always been my favorite uniform number and the only players I have seen wear it on the Giants are Tiki and KP, who happen to be two of my favorite Giants ever. This Mundy guy should be given something like #49 or another number nobody wants.
  13. At first, I wasn't a fan of this signing at all. But after hearing his interview on Giants.com, it sounds like he genuinely wants to be here. I remember early in his career he considered retirement, so I always questioned his commitment to the team. Listening to that interview was the first time I really thought he seemed committed to making the team better. Hopefully him continually saying "It's great to be home" will make him compete harder than he did early on in his career. Good depth with the ability to start games in place of an injured player. Can't help but like this pickup.
  14. Mundy is more of a run-support guy, so he won't be replacing KP. He is probably going to be a special teams player and a reserve safety. He could probably get some snaps as the 3rd safety also.
  15. Notice I didn't post any Antrel Rolle clips... it's because he has none! He has had very few impact plays since joining the Giants on that monstrous contract that pays him like he is Eric Weddle or Dashon Goldson.
  16. Figured I'd throw some YouTube links in here that pertain to the guys mentioned in the thread. These guys put up some great Giants videos, and maybe it will change some perceptions on some of these safeties. First of all, farewell KP. Here's a video of his 2012 highlights - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fzsp2n3LAUU ; and here is some career highlights, in case you guys forgot how good he was for us - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eDrbYXhy05Q And now we got Stevie Brown. Here's some 2012 highlights from his breakout season with the Giants - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vcaBbTpTL_k Lastly, we got a compilation of defensive snaps that Will Hill played last year. Honestly, he played a lot more defense than I remember. He didn't make any spectacular plays, but he wasn't a liability either. But I am warning you, this video is 13 minutes long. Watch it if you got some extra time - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2Tf2zvp0X8 Now, it's been awhile since I've posted here, so I hope you guys don't have some vendetta against posting YouTube videos or anything.
  17. It better make him back off his asking price. $10m for a slot WR is ridiculous. Did you notice that late in the year on 2-WR sets, Nicks and Randle would be in the game? It's because Cruz isn't nearly as effective outside. If he thinks he deserves $10m or more a year, go let him rot in Minnesota and then see how he feels. When looking at Welker and Amendola, two of the best slot WRs in the NFL, getting $6m per year, it makes me realize the Giants shouldn't offer Cruz a dime over $8m. $8m is already too much for a slot WR, and Cruz needs to be aware of all of his potential off-field opportunities playing in the media capital of the world. Combine that with the fact that his family lives in the area and he grew up here, Cruz should take something on the lines of 5 years, $38m and be happy to be the highest paid slot WR in the league and have tons of endorsement opportunities.
  18. I actually like both Hill and Brown. Both have tons of potential and can be coached into being starters in the secondary. They just aren't ready right now. Hill has tons of talent, but he's no KP when it comes to coverage and reliable tackling. Brown doesn't have the talent like Hill, but he really showed off some fantastic ball skills last year. I highly doubt Giants go safety in the 1st with Rolle/Brown/Hill/T2/Mundy already on the roster. It is honestly a luxury when compared to positions like LG, RT, TE, LB, etc. Doesn't mean the Giants won't draft a luxury position, because I have them going DE in the first round. I love T2, and he played pretty well at safety in limited snaps in 2010, but he can't be relied on at this point, like you said. Anything he gives this team will be more than they expected. Hoping for the best with him though, seems like a humble guy and I feel terrible about how his career has sputtered.
  19. And what everyone fails to realize is that we are going to have to go through this same exact thing next year, only to a guy who doesn't have injury concerns which will command more attention in the open market. Stevie Brown is going to be back on a one-year tender. If he performs well, he might just play his way to a big contract. Then what are the Giants left with? An overpaid Rolle who can't cover deep or cover receivers. Great idea Giants...
  20. When I saw this, it made me absolutely sick to my stomach. It was like a dagger piercing through the heart. KP was the most underrated player on this defense, and the most important outside of the D-Line. He was as reliable as it gets, which is what you look for in a safety. Never blew coverages that allowed big plays and was a sure tackler. I am definitely going to miss him, although not as much because he went to the Eagles. The fact that he went to the Eagles made me dislike him much more than I did before, but I'd still love for him to come back next year after that contract is over. The Giants should have been smart and got rid of Rolle and his ludicrous contract and use some of that money to keep KP. And to those of you who are questioning him because of injuries, you are wrong. Yeah, he missed 14 games in 2009 when he got microfracture surgery. And yeah, he missed 7 games last year with a sprained MCL in the OTHER knee. So all of these concerns over his knees are overblown. The guy played at least 15 games in 2008, 2010, and 2011. He's had one major injury and another freak injury last year where his knee got bent backwards. His mistake was trying to return when he wasn't 100%. The guy unquestionably was the best defender in the secondary for this team in 2010 and 2011. Losing him, especially on a one-year deal to Philly, is just pouring salt in the wound. I have to wait to hear the financial numbers, but I highly doubt he got more than $4m on that one-year deal. Dumb, dumb mistake by the Giants. The Giants defense gave up far too many big plays with Rolle and Stevie deep, and that is just going to continue this year. And I'll tell you one thing, Ryan Mundy sure as hell isn't going to soften this blow whatsoever.
  21. Hopefully this deal is for the veteran's minimum, because the Giants can't afford much more... IMO, this was a very necessary re-acquisition. He comes back and will be considered the "most experienced" of the group of LBs. I know Reese was talking about him playing in the middle last year, so this could very well be our starting MLB next year. I wouldn't mind at all, as long as he can stay healthy. Big question mark though...
  22. To put it simply, Tank would be a top 10 pick and unquestionably the best 4-3 DE available if it weren't for the injury. I originally thought we could grab him in the 2nd, but there have been tons of positive reports on his health status and how he could be the biggest riser on teams draft boards. The real question as to if he will be the pick or not is: are the Giants willing to risk their first round pick on someone coming off of a significant knee injury? If they are willing to take the risk, Tank is an absolute steal. Appreciate it! Can't wait to contribute and get going back on the ole stompin' grounds... lol
  23. So I haven't posted on here in years, but it's awesome to see it still going strong. I figured I should get back into it, considering that this has always been the best Giants community online. Anyways, seeing this thread made me think back at the last few years and who I've been expecting the Giants to pick. Goes as follows: 2007 - Darrelle Revis, CB (Aaron Ross) 2008 - Kenny Phillips, S (Kenny Phillips) 2009 - Hakeem Nicks, WR (Hakeem Nicks) 2010 - Rolando McClain, LB (Jason Pierre-Paul) 2011 - Jimmy Smith, CB (Prince Amukamara) 2012 - Lamar Miller, RB (David Wilson) What I realized is that although I only got two picks right, I got the right position in 5/6 years. So it shows that I know what I'm doing, at least partially. Surely, I missed on JPP, but I'm glad I did because he is a beast. But other than him, I've gotten the position right every year. Now it could be a coincidence, but I'm just gonna pretend like I really know what I'm doing. After discussing all of that, figured I'd let everyone know who I am thinking the Giants are going to pick at 19: Tank Carradine. He was arguably the best pure pass rusher going into the draft before tearing his ACL. He's ahead of schedule and is planning a workout next month. If he performs well, I am confident he will be the Giants pick. If anyone is going to be the JPP of this draft, it's Carradine not Ansah. Anyways, looking forward to trying to start posting here more often. I'll try to put up some recent mock drafts and stuff once the free agency period gets more situated.
  24. You know what, you dont have to waste your time for this because I never really post here so it will just be a waste, thanks anyways. And now that you didnt put my name in it, you can use it for someone else's sig
