  1. Our team is ready to go. That's the message I want to send to you Mets fans as we prepare for today's opener in South Florida. The goal this year is to make our final season at Shea something special and I think we can.

We've had a great spring. Our batting order certainly can produce runs. Jose Reyes has been spectacular in the field and on the bases. Carlos Beltran has recovered from his off-season knee surgeries and has been diving for balls in the outfield, while Luis Castillo is back to normal after his knee operation. I look for David Wright to once again play at his All-Star pace and we expect Carlos Delgado to have a bounce-back year. Brian Schneider adds a good defensive presence for us behind the plate, while I look for Ryan Church to play a solid rightfield.

Our line-up is intact except for Moses Alou, who should be back in late April or early May. Guys like Endy Chavez, Damion Easley and Angel Pagan can fill in for Moises until he returns. You need to have a solid bench to win and we certainly do.

Our pitching has been great all spring. The addition of Johan Santana makes our staff better from top to bottom. Pedro Martinez is healthy and hasn't missed a beat, while John Maine and Oliver Perez, who each won 15 games for us a year ago, are perhaps two of the young star pitchers in the major leagues.

The bullpen will once again be anchored by Billy Wagner, one of the best closers in the game. Aaron Heilman, Pedro Feliciano, Scott Schoeneweis, Matt Wise and Jorge Sosa all can perform in a variety of roles for us.

Orlando Hernandez, Duaner Sanchez and Ramon Castro will start the season on the Disabled List, but should be ready to go not too far into the season.

With Orlando Hernandez on the Disabled List, Mike Pelfrey will pitch this Saturday against Atlanta. He deserves the chance.

In closing I want to say one more thing. We all hated the way last year ended for us. For 98 percent of the season we were the best team in our division, but we let it slip away. When I spoke to the team this spring I didn't look backwards that much, I tried to look forward so we can all learn from what happened. The lesson is simple: don't take anything for granted and don't expect things to happen just because you think they will.

The season is here. It's time to make it happen.

Hope to see you back at Shea in April.

  2. Oh this kid had a mouth alright, typical loud mouth LI'er(sorry to the majority of LI'ers who are nice people), he just learned very quickly to not fuck with an Irish kid, inthe best shape of his life from Manhattan College all geeked up in Old Milwaukee and cheap whiskey.

You were so bad that you made medicine sick. :flex:

  3. Because the franchise did not value an offensive line. No team gets anywhere without a strong offensive line. "Skill" positions are the glamor positions because they are the ones who generate visible results but no offense gets anywhere without a good line. You can't pass the ball if you are constantly scrambling. You can't run the ball if your back can't get out of the backfield. And if you can't do either your defense is on the field far too often.

An NFL team lives and dies by its offensive line. Every championship team going back as far as I can think had a strong if not dominant offensive line that was a key part of setting the tempo of the game. Fans and owners like Snyder get caught up in the "name" players who put up great numbers. But fans and owners like Snyder never bother to look past the amazing TD catch or amazing INT or whatever. They are totally caught up in that one part of a play that all of the key parts that made that INT or TD happen are ignored.

When people remember the Eli-David Tyree play they will think of those two guys. But who will think of the Olinemen who pushed and shoved and stayed in the play while Eli was seemingly sacked?

Well, I'm certainly losing in the word count category.

  4. His story is really sad. Poor guy could have at least been a decent QB but after the beating he took in Houston he is just too gun-shy to even be considered a NFL QB, even as a backup.

His career and life are totally fucked because an expansion team did not do enough to protect its QB. Think about it this is a human life that could be a good QB right now except for the fact that his offensive line gave him nothing, his receiver corp was bare of talent, and lacking a strong offensive line his run game was non-existent. I actually feel bad for the guy even though he has banked millions.

Somebody had to be that guy.

  5. Well first off, don't post shit like that photo. The DCP is definitely anti "that".

OK but you're the one who called me an "outsider". I want to be Matt Dillon's character. Man, he was so cool in that movie.

So, back to the DMV gang. Can I be the enforcer?

  6. :P

    Slightly off topic.

I was at my local glory hole last nite, and there was a guy there, who I had met about two weeks prior, that was in town from Boston(just outside actually, I believe he said he lives in Brockton or sumthin like that), but he got nice hand job here and wants to stay a little longer than planned. The reason I am directing this at you, is he's a big dildo fan and a felching fan. Honestly, I love you. I took off my shirt, exposing my hard nipples, and we immediatley started kissing. I dont even know if you live in Boston, but you came to mind when I was kissing this guy. :)
