  1. Knicks Close In On Francis Trade

    21st February, 2006 - 4:16 pm

SI.com - The Knicks and Magic are close to a deal that would send three-time All-Star guard Steve Francis to New York for a package of players, according to two league sources. Details of the trade were still being worked out, according to one of the sources, who emphasized that it had yet to be completed. The Magic apparently have decided to wait until the last minute before Thursday's trade deadline to see if any better offers come up.

If the trade goes through, it would represent yet another high-profile acquisition for Knicks president Isiah Thomas, who already has added Larry Brown, Quentin Richardson, Eddy Curry and Jalen Rose this season alone. The 6-foot-3 Francis has averaged 19.4 points, 6.0 rebounds and 6.4 assists over his seven-year NBA career. He would join Stephon Marbury to form a backcourt with a combined five All-Star appearances.

The Knicks apparently are ready to send three players, including two regular members of the rotation, to Orlando in the deal. Neither team's officials will comment on any ongoing trade talks, but it is likely Jamal Crawford and Maurice Taylor would be included. The Magic are in a rebuilding mode, and the 6-5 Crawford is considered an intriguing young talent who would be able to step in and help fill the team's hole at shooting guard. Taylor would likely be included to help make the salaries match Francis' $13.7 million a year

I don't really get it. We're not making the playoffs, we'd be adding another ballhog and an older player (but that's the least of our problems). Hey Zeke, YOU SUCK

I live in next to Orlando, and trust me Francis is nothing but a turnover machine... he "occasionally" has a good game... never anything that special... the players that the Knicks want to trade, are they any good?

  2. As a TE he can still catch the flat passes and run just as he is used to and not like a real NFL running back. Watch tfor the Giants to get another running back, let shianco go off as a free agent, and then move Jacobs to TE/H-back.

    why would you say that?

  3. Ronde Barber -- As I stated in a thread I made on January 13th, there is a strong chance that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will release Ronde. In the past, they have not been afraid to cut ties with popular players (John Lynch and Warren Sapp, for example), and as I outlined in the earlier thread, Ronde is an ideal cap casualty. As a veteran CB with the ability to tackle, play zone, and make plays on the ball, Ronde would be a tremendous short-term addition for the Giants. Because of his age (turns 31 in April) and connection to the team (twin brother Tiki), he would not be overly expensive.

I wish we could... that's a tough possibilty....

  6. Giants gain cap room by signing Seubert

    By Len Pasquarelli

    ESPN.com

The New York Giants have signed offensive lineman Rich Seubert to a two-year contract extension, a move that provides the team about $400,000 in additional salary cap room for 2006.

By signing Seubert, the Giants secured for the long-term a player who could work his way back into the starting lineup after overcoming a potentially career-threatening injury.

For the second consecutive year, Seubert accepted a salary reduction, but could gain more security in a deal that ties him to the Giants through the 2009 season.

The two extension years added to his contract are at base salaries of $1.05 million for 2008 and $1.3 million for '09. His base salaries for the next two seasons, in the reworked portion of his existing contract, are $545,0000 for '06 and $790,000 for '07.

Seubert, 26, was an emerging star for the Giants when he suffered a catastrophic injury to his right leg six games into the 2003 season. He sat out almost two years after breaking his tibia, fibula and ankle, and there was some feeling he might never play again.

But after missing the entire '04 season, Seubert showed improvement in camp last summer and appeared in four regular-season games. He started at left guard in a Dec. 17 victory over the Chiefs, the game in which Giants running back Tiki Barber rushed for 220 yards.

The former Western Illinois player, who was signed as an undrafted free agent in 2001, is expected to vie for an expanded role in '06. Giants general manager Ernie Accorsi and coach Tom Coughlin made offensive line depth a priority last season and it paid off handsomely as the improved numbers on the unit helped contribute to New York winning the NFC East.

The worst-case scenario is that a fully recovered Seubert will be a key backup. But based on his performance in his lone start of '05, he could have an opportunity to be a starter again.

Seubert has appeared in 28 games and started 23 of them. He started all 16 games in 2002, the season before he broke his leg.

    Where should we go?

    Philly?

    Washington?

    Dallas?

    Seattle?

    Carolina?

    New Orleans?

    Jacksonville?

    Tennesee?

I say Seattle, cause god knows we need as many Giants there as possible after this year... DAMN I wish we were as loud as thier crowd

  8. They should let him win every once in a while just because of his last name . . . oh wait they already dfo that.

2 or 3 years ago he should've won  I'm very upset right now, but a bet is a bet... Morgan pick the picture that you want me to put in my sig

  9. come on did you even watch the race did you not see every one pit and leave JR. out high and dry and when the end of the race rolled around he lost because his tires were used up everyone else was on new tires

I only caught the end of the race, and the part I saw was Stewarts team pushing him up while Dale had nobody giving him a push...
