  1. I really wish the Giants would trade up to get Orakpo. A DE rotation with Tuck rotated with Kiwi and Osi rotated with Orakpo would form the best pass rush in the NFL for the next 5 years

He's a beast. I don't want to trade up for a position we're pretty strong at though.

Our priorities right now in no particular order: Gamebreaker at WR, speed at LB, pass rush specialist.

  2. Once Philly got in I had serious doubts... to get all those breaks then destroy Dallas the way they did it was almost like the writing was on the wall. We played like crap the last month too and that Carolina win looks a lot less impressive considering they nearly blew it against New Orleans and played like shit against a team that couldn't win on the east coast this year.

  3. that's definately part of it...the dog is not going to pretend to even know the giant's cap situation, and they have a good front office that knows what it is doing...but isn't the likes of jacobs/ward and anyone else who is going to be due up in the next few years licking their chops now? the potential chain reaction is that it is going to make this that much harder to sign players in the future, as the standard is set.

It's looking more and more like this is the last capped year. If that's the case this may look like a bargain down the road. And if it's not then the new CBA would probably have a deal that increases the cap drastically every year so it wouldn't be an issue.

  4. Keep in mind the Eagles secondary was considered the weak link of the team when we hired Spags away from them. Just because Moss can't stay healthy and isn't that good doesn't mean Sullivan would be a bad OC.

But the fact Gilbride and/or Spags may take away position coaches is what scares me. That was a big reason the Cowboys were a failure this year. No continuity with position coaches and players.

    Sigh... the price of success.

  5. Kiwi overall was disappointing.

I think it is clear he is a #3 DL...he is depth...but push came to shove he could not protect Tuck.

It's tough to judge. He spent the whole off-season working out as an LB then the week before the season he's asked to move to DE. He did better then anyone else would have on the roster and that's all you could've really asked for.

If he works out to be a DE for 09 and gets in a rotation with Osi and tuck he can be a dynamic 3rd rusher

  6. told you ::self high five::

he'd probably be singing a different tune if we hoisted a lombardi for the second stragiht year.

but since its clear our dense OC can't adjust and our QB cant adapt to the meadowlands wind we probably don't have a choice.

Does anyone else besides me think having homefield in december-January isn't so much of an advantage? We suck in the wind.

  7. For weeks, no one wanted to say it. Not even Tom Coughlin after Sunday's crushing playoff loss to the Eagles ended the Giants' season in a manner they never expected.

But general manager Jerry Reese was blunt after the game when asked if the Giants' offense missed beleaguered wide receiver Plaxico Burress.

"Obviously, it's hard to replace that," Reese said in a nearly-empty locker room. "The guy has a presence out there and when you lose that, teams play you differently. We made some adjustments, but today we had opportunities. We just didn't make enough plays."

The big question, then, is whether the Giants' struggles without Burress have nudged the team toward bringing him back, provided he doesn't get sent to prison for illegal gun possession.

Before Burress' suspension, Eli Manning had completed 62 percent of his passes and had a passer rating of 91.3. In the five games after Burress' season was ended by the team's placing him on the non-football injury list, Manning completed only 54 percent of his passes and had a dreadful rating of 63.6.

"If everything goes all right, yeah," Reese said when asked if Burress could return next season. "Absolutely."

Reese kept saying there were plays to be made Sunday without Burress on the field. Of course, those plays are tougher to make when a 6-5, 232-pounder isn't forcing a defense to devote several players to his side of the field.

"Your margin of error is way less when you don't have a guy with that kind of presence out there," Reese said, "so you have to capitalize on every opportunity you have and we were not able to make enough plays."

Can the Giants' offense survive without Burress? Maybe. But the scheme was designed and installed with him in mind, so it's a tough switch for the coaching staff and players to make during the season.

"Obviously, the guy has a presence when he's on the field. But do they have a Plax out there -- the Eagles? I don't think so," Reese said. "They have good receivers, we have good receivers. They made the plays, we didn't. They deserve all the credit."

  8. I do not know why you guys are so bothered by that loss. The 2000 NYG had no business even being on the field with that team and would have gotten smoked even had the Titans won(as they did earlier in the year by Tenn 28-14) and would have been smoked by the Rams had they beaten the Saints that year(as they were earlier in the year minus Warner and Faulk 38-24).

Need to let that one go and see it what it was, a very fortunate team that gave its fans as many games as possible.

that titans game was a joke. they destroyed us

  9. Drafting a receiver isn't going to cut it. Really the only two guys I'd consider drafting are Dez Bryant and Michael Crabtree for an immediate impact.

WRs take too long to adjust to the NFL. We're a relatively young team but when a team is playing this well you gotta play for now.

  10. ..........this shit annoys the hell out of me. :furious:

    rah rah bullshit

We're an established franchise with probably the biggest fan base in the league and every fucking time a big game comes up, the website posts this nonsense. The next thing it'll be instructions on how to cheer at the stadium.

If I saw this on another teams website, I'd laugh my ass off at it in ridicule. The nonsense about our fans not cheering is so overblown. Any game I've ever been at, the crowd has been fine. We're world champions, not the fucking Oklahoma Thunder!!

The eagles do stuff like this all the time.

  11. I agree.

I dont think butler has been that bad. he's not great, but he doesnt suck either. He's a solid nfl player, not a stud, but he's a decent player. Id like him back...at the right price.

If Kenny Phillips reaches his potential then Butler becomes that much more valuable. Like Polamalu's Ryan Clark.

  12. This next game is going to be tough... look for every third or fourth eagles pass to go to Brian Westbrook.... and we all know Spagnuolo doesn't believe in adeqeutly covering opposing teams RB on pass plays.

All day long, passes to the RB. Watch.

No way westy duplicates his performance in january. It's gonna be avant that will be our royal pain in the ass.
