  1. That's what I thought till he dropped THAT pass. :brooding:

Plax has dropped gimmes before. I'm not saying Hixon is Plax but can you remember any other big drops Hixon had this year? He's very good at catching passes in traffic over the middle of the field.

  2. Plax dropped passes too. What we need is a guy that demands double coverage. How many big plays did Plax make this year? Not that many, yet he was obviously the biggest part of our O. Edwards does have more gamebreaking ability and commands the same respect as Plax.

Drops shouldn't scare us off. Idk about a first rounder but a 2nd and 5th is a no brainer.

  3. when have they rushed him? he has a handful of MLB at bats. No reason to trade him for a 32 year old middle infielder. Thanks but no thanks.

Through the farm. I've read a lot that says we've rushed him, so I'll trust the opinions of scouts.

    Young's 32 alraedy?

  4. No the K's will go to a healthy Hamels and Myers and of course Lidge and Madson on the back end. You praise Tatits, yet bash a guy like Moyer. I can only imagine if Moyer were a Met....

As for Murphy, he has not played winter ball, he was dinged up. That 2B idea was floated last year.

No one is saying to not be positive Jim, its great, we get it you always believe, but here is when you lose all credibility, when you completely jump the shark of homerism if you will, when you fail to recognize that the METS have no closed the gap on the Phillies nor do they have the proven horses that they do. Where their big 3 of Utley, Rollins and Howard got it done(2 mvps 1 ws title) our big 3 of Wright, Beltran and Reyes shit the bed three years in a row. Ignoring that fact and assuming it will just disappear is blind. This core has consistently showed when the spot gets bigger they get smaller.

I think Wright deserves a pass for 07 and Beltran a pass for 08. They both played well in the stretch runs.

  5. I hope not! If they did that deal they would HAVE to throw in Salty. You guys are going to go nuts over Martinez's talent. When the Mets call him up he is going to really show his goods. Just watch this dude in Spring Training.

I love F-Mart's talent too but I don't want to wait anymore. He's gifted but he's also been through injuries and an team that has been impatient with him and rushed him up. OF prospects and the Mets just don't mesh. Having a team-oriented ballplayer like Young would add so much to this lineup NOW and for the future. And fill a void at 2b.

  6. Did you read the whole article? It's not about hypotheticals. The article is stating that as a lawyer, he cannot represent all the players he represents without doing harm to one by doing good for another. Example... this offseason with Teixeira and Manny. By him getting a huge deal for Tex with the Yanks, it absolutely hurt the market for his other client, Manny. It is substantial and it's at least noteworthy and somewhat thought-provoking about the responsibilities and power that these agents have, particular super-agents like Boras.

That's not unethical. Manny did more harm to himself by bitching his way out of Boston than Boras did in getting his client (teixera) an awesome deal.

  7. I think you would donate $ to Eli Manning's future 120 million dollar salary if the Giants asked. Yea, I would venture to say that Eli Manning did not win all of those games by himself. In fact, had the Pats scored 36 in the Superbowl they would have won. I would have been impressed by Eli had the Giants outscored them 37-36. But that game, as well as that run, was fueled by the defense.

It's a team effort. We don't win those 4 if our D doesn't play so well, and we don't win those 4 if Eli doesn't play so well.

Honestly, who cares who fueled it?

  8. the dog would never diminish what manning has done...nor would the dog elevate him to greatness based on it either. not yet anyway. he made plays he had to make, but in the end, and we will differ on this, the giants won the super bowl last year because of their defensive scheme, and their execution on defense. they held the pats to 14 points, 7 going into the final few minutes...had they generated consistent offense, and executed well on offense, this game would have never come down to the final minute anyway...

You don't know that. The pace of the game dictates how it goes. If Eli didn't convert four third downs on the first drive and drain ten minutes of the clock things might have been different. The offense didn't score much not just because they didn't execute to perfection but there weren't that many drives and the Pats defense is very good.

  9. I'm a little concern in giving the Def Coordinator position to someone who coach arguably our weakest position.

Spags was the LB coach for the Eagles and that was their worst position at the time.

He's a coach not a miracle worker. He wasn't going to give Danny Clark skills, he wasn't going to make Pierce faster, and he wasn't going to make Blackburn another Jessie Armstead.

  10. I loved Spags but in November when it was clear our front 4 wasn't going to be able to generate that good of a rush it was up to him to design schemes to get to the QB. And we never really did.

I'm not going to say we're not going to miss a beat with him but if we take someone from within the blow won't be too bad.
