most top WRs do not come from 1st round draft choices
Its a very hard position to draft from college
The receiving game in the Pros is very different
Reese will not draft a WR in round #1.......hes smarter than that
-
I mean yeah...Blackburn didn't have any help in doing that or anything. Jesus Christ,
ooohhh he made one big stop in the backfield...WOW...OMG. People do that every game.
Blackburn started at WIL, Boley will now replace him...thank God.
Actually, I loved seeing Blackburn getting blown up by guards. The Giants could do alot better
and alot worse than Pierce. I think this is his last year in New York anyway.
hey lets agree to disagree on pierce.
as for Blackburn he looks good at MLBer.....not so good as a WIL
Do you also enjoy watching Pierce get knocked around? or is just Chase? What would Pierce look like as a WIL?
We need LBer help.....that was my point. This draft has some real good ones
-
Laurenitis is not very good. He's got the "looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane" syndrome.
No thanks, I'd be pretty pissed if the Giants drafted him.
I think they should take a look in what they have in Johnathan Goff.
I like Goff.....what about the other two guys at USC
Your love of our present LBer corp scares me a bit I might say
-
As someone who "watches every single NFL game" you'd know that Boley wasn't a fit for the defensive
system down in Atlanta. Down there they use a read and react system rather than a attacking, downhill
defense that the Giants use.
Again Jack, please stop talking out of your ass. And the Giants hardly had the worst Linebacker corp
in the league. I think Lions, Rams and Chiefs fans would disagree with you.
I dont really watch every game
That was a joke
as in HAHA
If we dont have the worst were in the hunt......my point was we need to draft one of the top young LBers
not a WR......I was leaning towards Cushing but this guy Laurenitis really really impressed me at the combine
-
You do have friends right, Jack? I'm probably gonna assume a "no" on that one,
But anyways...he tried to help a friend in need, it might have been a really bonehead
decision but he did it, he tried to help a fallen teammate. I guess you also misread the
part where Pierce berated Plaxico after he shot himself.
Pierce hardly made a "big deal" about getting a contract extension..he said some things
like "I would like to be taken care of when my deal is done in a few years. That's hardly
making a "big deal" out of getting a new contract.
Oh and Nas, Blackburn hardly impressed anyone. Maybe that's why they signed Michael Boley?!?!?!
LIKE ZOMG.
Blackburn impressed me holding Frank Gore to 6 net yds, and a backfield stop on the 1st play....your hard to impress apparently
Boley is an outside LBer......Blackburn filled in at WIL.....hes a MLBer by trade
What does Pierce bring to the party? Do you watch Pierce get beat over the middle time and time again? its ok?
-
Pierce didn't know Plaxico had a gun on him, how are you going to stop someone from
doing something when you don't even know what they are holding. What you said makes no sense.
Jack did you ever read L.T's 2nd book? He writes that he was sneaking out after curfew one day
and he sees anyone player sneaking back in...it was Harry Carson. HOLY SHIT, PARCELLS HAD TO BE STEAMING
THAT HE NAMED CARSON A CAPTAIN WITH THAT OSTENTATIOUS BEHAVIOR.
Pierce hardly caused the Giants another shot at a Superbowl win. Their are a number of factors
contributing to that and Pierce isn't one of them.
Could you please stop talking out of your ass, if you write that "Pierce had one foot out the door anyway"
provide facts from Giants personnel saying so. Until then your just making up bullshit of the lowest kind.
True I was not there but read the Newspaper reports. The Plaxico party got stopped by the bouncers. They saw Burress had a gun but "nervously" let them in
A skinny guy with a revolver under his sweat pants is pretty easy to spot......and there was a discussion about the gun at the door
Your trying to tell me Pierce did not see any of this? after the self inflicted shooting Pierce then drove Burress back to NJ and tried to hide the gun.....am I the only one who sees a problem here?
Also Since you asked Pierce made a big deal out of getting a contract extension last year Reese and Coughlin ignored him totally
thats what I meant about the one foot out the door
-
let me get this straight
with the worst LBer corp in the league, we bring in one non starter free agent at LBer, lose Kiwi back to the D line
AND WE ARE SET??????
If Ralph actually said that I'm disappointed in him
-
First of all...Blackburn started a whopping ONE game last season and that was against the offensive
juggernaut the 49ers.
You will see Pierce running the D this preseason because there is a new system that needs to
be in place.
He won't be cut/released/hung up from a telephone pole. You have no idea what your talking about.
I dont think its specifically his play. Which is average and degrading slowly
It will be because of the Plaxico incident. Coughlin has to be steaming that he named a Captain who allowed a player to carry a gun into a nightclub and did not try to stop him
He had one foot out the door before this incident
You could make a case that Pierce cost us another trophy by his inaction that night
-
If Pierce were to be cut, the Giants would have done it already. The team does not have
a suitable replacement for Pierce as of yet.
If Blackburn were starting material, he would have started over him. Period.
Like the Babe you just called your own shot
In the games Blackburn started at MLBer last year he made Pierce look very forgetable
I dont think Pierce will be cut til the end of camp....Coughlin has to make sure he has a healthy LBer corp going into the new season before he makes that move
The tip off will be that you wont see AP in preseason running the D......Blackburn will be the starter in preseason IMHO
-
You might as well take the year off Jack, AP is definitly going to play. I can see that AP is slowing down, but for now, we dont have anyone better. Spare me the blackburn thing, he didnt exactly impress anyone with the time he got last year.
I'm thinking AP will be cut this summer or announce his retirement, after the Giants buy out his contract
A Phil Simms type farewell......I wish AP well in his future eneadvors. I hope he does not show in the newspapers like a few of our retired players have.
And I wish you well as a an AP fan.....like ol Kerryistheman you can follow AP to his next stop. Which for most aged over-rated players is the Oakland Raiders
-
does anyone know his philosophy, bio?
-
I do. I never saw a problem on the field.
Manning looks lost out there without him
-
that pass rush is going to be immense, if they can stay healthy, I just dont see how anybody can slow them down.
I see Canty as a multi dimensional guy who will primarily back up the DE's
Having said that we now have too many people on te DL
I would leave Kiwi at LBer and keep them all
Its the LBers that need the shake up- Pierce has to go, and one of the young LBers has to go
I think the 1st round pick will be one of the USC guys Cushing Matthews or Maualunga
or Lauranitis of Ohio State
-
I buried them last year after they tied the Bengals. Forgive me if I don't attend this funeral. Eagles will be tough somehow, they always are.
I agree ......like the Boston Red Sox they never let anyone go without a plan
I suspect they will come back even stronger next year.....
Ive got the NFC East looking like this
Giants
Washington
Eagles
Cowboys
-
Blackburn is nothing more then a special teamer, the only reason he played this year is because Wilk was doing horribly out there. If we draft Cushing or a top LB look for Wilk to be cut and maybe even Blackburn, their nothing more then backups to backups at that point.
Peirce,(drafted LB), Boley, Goff, Kehl, Clark and DeOssie will be our main core of LBs for next year and Blackburn if the coaches want him for ST. Look for him to be let go in 2010 when his contract is up.
Pierce will be cut this summer.........book it
-
nice visual, jim.
you cant keep Pierce in the middle
I project Pierce to be a summer cut, and he'll not be picked up by anyone
Blackburn is ready to move in there
Cushing or another topflight draft piick LBer will back up Blackburn at MLBer
Pierce sealed his deal with the Plaxico Fiasco.......and his attrocious play
its time to move on
-
Man, I'm so happy with this Boley signing. The first thing that leaped out was that he was "excellent in coverage." THANK GOD!!!!
Now with Rocky Bernard, the Giants had a very tough interior - Robbins, Bernard, Cofield, and Alford...that's a fucking mint DT rotation.
I still want us to get a stud college LB with one of our 1st 3 picks....but these two signings give the Giants more room to pursue a top-flight WR now.
My man-crush on Jerry Reese just got more embarrassing.
HOWEVER: Both these guys apparently have some hand-trouble with women. Hopefully, that shit is in the past.
who has not had hard times with women
-
Chase Blackburn's replacement.
I tried fighting the impulse Jack, but you just set this up far too easy...LOL
i agree with you
chase looked woefully out of place at WIL, but not terrible just average...... but think about it
Chase is a MLBer, hes done extremely well at MLBer when hes started........Pierce could not play a down at WIL, as a matter of fact he is now a total embarrasment in the middle
why he is still a giant is mystifying
-
We got new members? Leave them be, we need some fresh blood since Egg won't be back till...well, not sure he'll ever be back.
Badegg was here? What did he say?
Badegg never appears when the Cowboys are losing, only when we lose and they win
hes a sore winner
-
Stop going to BBI, it sucks.
with Antonio on the field there will always be short passing over our middle area
OLBers cannot fix that weak spot alone, they will have their own responsibilities to worry about
all you need to do is design a play to isolate Pierce on a RB, or TE.....he is totally unable to stop that
Philadelphia creamed us doing that over and over and over again
11 on 10 does not compute
-
but i thought you DVR'd and watched every nfl game?
that sir was a joke
Ok this kid sounds like a good move........hopefully he is and stays healthy
hes a speedy linebacker who had a few very good seasons in atlanta until last season when they switched to a read and react type defense, he can rush the passer and is also good in space.
basically think about what our weaknesses were at linebacker last year and those are his strengths.
hes only 27 too.
-
I swear I never heard of him.
Hopefully, this is another Jerry Reese magical move.
I like the idea of Bernard. reports I've seen on him hes a nasty inside presense
As for the Redskins, you can't fault them for trying. Haynesworth is apparentlly a terriffic player
At this rate The Cowboys will soon be the NFC East doormat........thats incredibly amusing
-
Colts maybe...eagles no. they dont use their first round picks ... lol
actually i got the pick number wrong
Fox thinks Cushing will be a NY Giant
-
All great works of literature ...and message boards....need characters and protagonists. Jack is one of those characters.
Also consider this part of your civic duty..if Jack is here..it means he's not beating off on the D Train in front of old ladies.
C. Wagon
hey all i did was pose an intriquing question
the fact anyone would defend eli on this at all speaks for how far hes come
he has a ways to go though
he slid back a bit this past year
Jason Taylor to Visit Giants Tuesday
in New York Giants
Posted
Taylor will find a home
I dont think we need him....hes sort of the alex rodriquez of football
not the drugs just the attitiude
having said that I've seen him dominate a game......not many can do that
