  1. Nest you are a winner on todays the Yards Are Right. Come on down

Guys we are talking about 2008 right? Keep in mind you must add Derrick Ward and Bradshaw to the mix. I see Jacobs with about 900 yards.

  2. I agree that Shock and Eli rarely seem to be on the same page.

I've always liked running two tights anyway, and with two good receiving tightends there are plenty of options.

Couldn't agree more Nes, but I am starting to think that we could actually trade Shockey for something big a first rounder or at least a 2nd round pick.

  3. Considering they had a better record than the G-Men, and beat us soundly this season, I can understand how they would be favored, especially up in Green Bay with an arctic front moving in.

However, the Giants just knocked off the consensus NFC heavyweight on their home turf, and the Packers are the same team that got swept by the Bears. And in the 2nd Bears games, the weather was absolutely awful, and the Packers were thoroughly outplayed. So, there is reason for guarded optimism.

In beating Miami, Chicago, Philly, and Buffalo in crappy conditions, the Giants have proven they are an effective poor-weather team.

I was worried about the field until I remembered it's actually a heated field. If the field allows for some traction, then our pass defense can hopefully lean on the pass rush again.

I felt that last week Eli would have to outduel Romo, and he did. This week, I think it will all come down to line play. If the Giants offensive line can turn in a performance like they did against Buffalo, then I think we've got a great shot to win the game.

Hey Joe good to see you on the board. I agree but I will add both our lines have to do really well. Then I really believe we have a shot. I know one thing as I have gotten older the cold weather bothers me more. Hopefully that will be the case for Favre this Sunday.

  4. You've hit the nail on the head. The list of big name washouts that came to New York is long and storied. Anyone remember how Randy Johnson was going to be the savior...or Pavano...or Jim Abbott (although he did pitch one no-hitter)...or Black Jack ('fuck you fans') McDowell...or Dwight Gooden...or Kenny Rogers...or Hideki Irabu....or Denny Neagle....or Adrian "lil Ducque" Hernandez...or Kevin Brown....or Jose Contreras....or my favorite bust whom I thought would be the savior, Jeff Weaver. The list of pitchers failing to come up to expectations that put on the pinstripes is looonnnnnggg and sad...and there's certainly no guarantee Santana wouldn't just be added to the list.

Of course there were a few who panned out, Jimmy Key, David Cone, Clemens, and.....uhhhhhhh...I'm sure there are more, just can't think of any. I'd put Mussina soemwhere between busts and winner....he's a pretty consistent .500 pitcher, which has made him neither a bust nor a winner.

Regardless, I am sure glad that the Yanks are stopping from gutting out the kiddie farm for a guy that might bring me heartache after heartache.

Exactly Rick. We have had such a dreadful hitory with bringing in savior pitchers only to have them get hurt, or worse unable to handle the NY media circus. Highes & kennedy will both be #1 & #2 studs in a few years if they stay healthy oh wait Joba is gonna be a starter. So that gives us Pettite, Wang, Mussina, Joba, Hughes & kennedy. I might move Moose to the pen.

  5. I'm judging him on the 3rd & Long draw plays.

Tree, I am no fan of Gilbride's but with Burress playing mostly on one leg, Moss who has been a bust and Smith getting splinters in his butt on IR we simply don't have the receivers we need. When Plax could stretch the field he & Eli were a formidable duo. Let's see Smith & Plax both healthy & then we can judge.

I think Coughlin has done an outstanding job of changing enough so that his players don't hate him.

  6. None taken... :)

Hitting is no the problem. We need pitchin and we need it bad. I can't even remember the last time we had a true number one on our pitching rotation. I totally agree....I don't want the Yanks trasing Hughes, Jaba or kennedy. And I know Cano will probably be MVP candidate for years to come. But I see J. Santana doing for us what Jimmy Key did 10 Years ago.

Not getting Santana would be a hugh mistake.

Nem, I thought the same thing and then I recalled how unlucky we have been going after starters. Just look at all the disasters we have had the past several years. None of those guys are playing for us and one of them Pavano will go down as one of the worst deals ever. Some guys just can't play here.

  7. Are you sure he was yesterday? I didn't catch him on every play, but the announcers made the statement that he was not drawing double coverage. I doubt any team would double him after his last 4 games, and the publicity of his bum ankle.

Don't think I'm criticizing Plax. He's hurt. He's not 100% and can't do what he does. I'm just saying rest the man, and let him get back to 100%, at least for the Minny game.

He had 3 drops yesterday and looked very pedestrian out there regardless of the coverage. I say rest him for the playoffs or sooner if he gets better. Can't Moss go long? He's supposed to be super fast. Or why not play Boss along with Shockey - let Shock go deep.

  8. At least we didn't pick J.P. Losman. I've actually had a Bills fan try to tell me he's better than Eli.

Eli for the most part has be great this season. He was throwing lasers early on and some really pretty bombs yesterday. I think he'll keep improving.

The kid CAN throw the ball but he CAN'T make stupid mistakes in our biggest game. Those were Rookie mistakes not a 4 year pro who's been playing all his life.

  9. That he does. My analysis of the NFL right now and consistently winning teams is that they bring in players who are team players. Hall has amazing talent and I have no doubt some team will pay him way more than he is worth. But I would rather have a player who has half the talent of Hall but is a player who will accept his role on the team and go out and do the best he can to fulfill that role. I just do not see Hall as a player who can do that, and GMs (and fans) who clamor for talented players are far to quick to overlook character issues to fill a hole.

Look at the Patriots....do they have superstar players? Ok Moss I'll grant that, but ignore him and look at the past couple seasons. Ignore the damn videotaping too because when it comes down to it you need players who buy into the system and will do the role the system requires. From my perspective the way to create a winning team in this league is to ignore the flashy players and focus on team-focused players. Flashy players have one goal, advancing their own agenda....and I do not blame them they want the $$$$$$$$$$$$$. Good for them. But team players equals team wins which leads to championships.

Lube, I love ya man but the Patriots don't have any superstars? Ever hear of Tom Brady? He may be the best ever. But that interception wasn't that good. The ball was slightly underthrown & Amani couldn't turn to go back for it.

  10. I dont know for a fact that Giraridi is out of the hunt, but I think Georgie wants someone with an impressive resume...plus LaRussa is supposedly a good buddy of his. I want Girardi to be the manager, but I guess we'll see.

Didn't Girardi win Manager of the Year coaching the Marlins? I believe he and the owner got into a squabble and he was gone.

  11. What a joke. There were guys saying that Reyes is a better player than Jeter. I don't know & couldn't care less who they are but I trust youo see the fallacy of your thinking eh? He wound up batting .280 for the year I believe he is a career .284 hitter. So other than base stealing what else can he do better than Jeter? I believe he batted .156 the last 7 games. Now that is clutch.

  12. Jeez do we need to make this clear to you AGAIN? The comments people ragged on him about were interpreted as being over the line, calling your former QBs leadership comical and bashing the coach who saved your career. They were unnecessary and showed a complete lack of respect for the people who helped him become what he is today.

Ditto & I thought he looked uncomfortable too last night. I don't know why?

  13. Most of you know I am a Yankee Fan first but I always root for the NY teams and unfortunately that is a very loud choking sound I am hearing from Shea.

Tied for 1st place unreal. And many of you wrote off the Yankees.

  14. I give Shockey and Plaxico credit because every time they make a mistake they are considered "boneheads" and "hotheads", when in fact they do make a lot of plays for this offense. Eli makes some bad throws and sometimes it's blamed on the fact that Shockey and Plaxico have ran the wrong routes, when it's simply not the case. Too much is made about them throwing their hands up in the air. On the winning TD, Plaxico made a move on Taylor that gave him about 5 yards of space. Shockey did make a catch at the goaline with 2-3 guys on him. You say Eli won this game, who caught his passes to win the game?

You're giving Ward credit, yet you're not. Seriously just don't bother.

Boo I love ya man but Eli did a fine job with the exception of that 1 throw. There were 5 dropped passes in the 1st half. Yikes!!! We came back settled down & played like we're capable off playing.
