  1. He was one of those kids who was to fucking stupid to realize "Hey maybe I should just give this pursuit up" I mean sure there no reason why he shouldn't try to be a QB, I mean do what makes you happy. But seriously did he HONESTLY think that he would be the starting QB for some NFL team? or was he just that stubborn?

Gents - this Kid owns just about every frigging record at U of Kentucky and there were some pretty good QB's there.

  2. Last year, Dahl replaced Butler and Johnson replaced Wilson. However Spagnolo system requires the safeties to be able to play both free and strong. Giants safeties in camp are all pretty much around the same size.

Anyway, i was only quoting what the safeties coach said before mini camp.

Boohyah, how are you Lad? Did you see the Margarito - Cotto fight? I was amazed at how much bigger Margarito is/was. I don't think Mayweather would want any part of him.

  3. With all the injuries piling up and now Joba prolly out for the season, we are in deep doo doo. Unless A-Rod can put the team on his back which he really hasn't done this year (batting .248 with RISP) I don't know who else can do it.

Mussina is having a great year but Petite has gotten shelled his last two starts. Ponson and theyy bring back Kennedy to replace Rsner but who will replace Joba?

Meanwhile the flipping Rays continue to win. And the dread Sox.

  4. And to spout off in the Kidsday column that appears in the Sunday comics of NewsDay was totally inappropriate. Basically the kids ask questions about what is your favorite color and is it fun to play football. Methinks Shockey is a Class A narcissist.

No make that a first class asshole.

  5. I honestly have mixed feelings about this, I've always been a Shockey fan but it may have just been time for him to go, with the shouting match shit and all the other stuff. He just wasn't fitting on the team.

Goodluck Shock, Boss you better step the fuck up.

    But a 2nd and 5th? C'mon.

VG, when you consider the amount of injuries the guy has had and how he was such a pain in the ass, I guess a 2 & a 5 are OK. Plus he was clearly a distraction to Eli who simply played better without him.

  6. Well, I would say that at this point that Woodson will be battling for the 3rd string QB role with J-Load and Wright. They will not carry 4 QB's. Unless they convert J-Load to FB, LOL.

My guess is that the 3rd string QB role is Andre Woodson's to lose. Wright and J-Load will most likely be cut. Woodson has potential to be a good starting QB in the NFL. Same can't be said for the other two, and the Giants will want to showcase him for possible trade, OR they only believe Carr will be a Giant for one year, so he is who they hope will be Eli's back up in 2009 and beyond.

Yeah but don't you carry 3?

  7. I hope not. As much as it seems this whole Shockey thing is heating up, I hold out some hope he stays, and that we just draft as normal. If we go safety/corner or linebacker in round 1 and 2, wide receiver in round 3 and then start building some depth in 4-7. I'll be happy.

I hate it when the Giants are party to any negative stories like this one, especially now that we built up so many good vibes this year and we got this news that Osi is not going to hold out.

Hey Boo, how are you bud? Hope all is well. I gave my Shockey shirt to my youngest son who has worn it proudly at times and sometimes wants to hide it.

The Giants proved that as a team they could win. Their torturous and arduous trip to the SB proved that. So do we really need Shockey? He's a great player, but is he more distraction than a help?

If we can get like talent in a trade I am all for it.

  8. It does seem that Giants execs like guys with strange names. In fact, I usually spend the first week after a draft learning how to pronounce Umenyura, Kiwanuka or Visanthe, etc. Last year wasn't so bad. Anyway, given that scenario, here's a potential mock (picked for "names" sake) for this weekend:

    OT - Gosder Cherilus

    WR - De’Cody Fagg

    LB - Xavier Adibi

    CB - Jack Ikegwuono

DT - Ogemdi Nwagbuo (Try saying that one 3 times fast)

    FS - Husain Abdullah

    SS - Haroki Nakamura

    DE - Kenny Iwebema

    FB/RB - Jehuu Caulcrick

I wouldn't mind having Gosder Cherilus or Xavier Adibi, but the rest....I don't know :cwy:

    Rick, you're killin me. :LMAO:

  9. You're right Bleedin, it's a fine offer. Here's the problem. Everybody is fucking talking now. Reese, the newspapers, Friends of Shockey, and all of this reduce his trade value and as it gets closer to the draft it gets lower. The only way we can get more for him is if we shop him around, but right now it looks like the Saints only. And if he really said this about his role, then he's coming off as a me first player and some teams won't deal with him.

It was been talked about on NFL radio yesterday about the Harper deal, and the consensus was that the Saints would be dumb to give up Harper. They shoild go at most 2nd rounder with a conditional pick next year, based on his playing time and performance, which seems like the smart way to go.

Shockey was a problem for Eli and as we saw he played better without him or is that my imagination? As much as I love Shockey, I love my Giants more. Team is something Shockey has never learned.

BTW did you see the Hopkins - Calzaghe fight. Very nice

  10. Giants fans know the value of a good long snapper, after a certain playoff game many of us would have been tickled with a first round long snapper.

I thought DeOssie was a long snapper. No? I'd prefer we see an addition at CB or Safety. You never have enough of those players. Then I would look to dump Moss in a trade - he has been a huge disappointmment. With the emergence of Smith as the heir apparent to Amani, we still need someone who stretches the field besides Plax.

  11. Gents 4 years ago I was one of those who was upset not that we got Eli but what we gave up to get him, considering by trading down we could have gotten Big Ben & merriman as well.

Today I am eating crow because thiis kid performed like a true champion. How many QBs make that escape? That was all desire & heart.

We have a team of the future if we don't screw it up. Other than Strahan who else might leave. Recall we have a couple of potential all pro guys who were injured for the SB.

Gilbride will be back and I believe Spags takes a HC job. So the real issue is who do we look for in FA & who do we take in the draft?

In my 55 plus years as a Giant fan - I remember crying listening to Ameche beating us in the NFL Championship.

That was the best game I ever saw our guys play.

  12. The military doesn't care about your priorities. They tell you where to be and for how long you're going to be there. I have no say in this. This is WLC, formerly PLDC, so you army guys will know. They lock you down like basic training in this school, although it's not as bad as far as treating you like shit like basic. It's a school I need to get done with to get promoted, so in a way, I'm glad I'm getting it over with, but if I miss the first SuperBowl the Giants have been in since 2000, I will :explode:

Jim, I believe you will swiggin beers in the PX with the homies. No one I knew ever held a class Sunday night.

Good luck. What rank are you?

  13. BTW I love Jacobs I was one who was very excited about getting him. I worked in Chicago and read about him all the time at SIU. But he is prone to injury. Bradshaw may move past Ward although it will be interesting going into next year. Unless Droughns is a huge special teams player i believe he moves on next year.

  14. I do not know how to respond to this, so I think I will respond by asking a few questions?

Why in gods name would anyone start a thead(ok well maybe one person)about the 2008 season, with the biggest gme this franchise has played in 7 years just a little over a week away?

What does Ward and Bradshaw have to do with Jacobs numbers?

(this topic was started in April ;) )

Sorry guys, but I saw an interesting statistic today on ESPN. Last year we averaged 134.8 ypg. This year 134.4. Anyway hardly any difference.
