  1. Maybe Money's such a control freak that he rigged the thing to block your access. Meanwhile he goes along with the story that you were supposed to be running this thing while he was off at class learning about Desmond Howard. Then he yaps about how you dropped the ball. Personally Pizan, I think you got sabotaged.

    Jeff Feagles

Don't get me wrong, I like Feagles, I'm glad he's coming back, but he's hardly the greatest of all-time.
  3. Like I said ... Pizan's got this thing covered if Money needs to take a break or hit the bathroom.

    Jeff Feagles

Jeff Feagles shouldn't even have his name mentioned in the same sentence with Ray Guy. Heck I wouldn't even consider Feagles the best Giants punter of all time. A certain Mr. Jennings in the late 70's has that distinction.
  5. Mathias Kiwanuka once killed a bear with his bare hands. Afterwards somebody told him Davey Crockett did the same thing so Kiwanuka hunted down the bear's entire family and killed them too. For good measure he fed the bearmeat to his pet Python. Then he killed and ate the Python. No way I was going to allow Kiwanuka to fall past my pick. If this draft doesn't make Brett Favre reconsider retirement nothing will. Speaking of which, if Brett Favre retires, Kiwanuka's gonna kill and eat him.
  6. Money, Pizan did a stellar job in your absence. STELLAR I tell you.
  7. Money I'm going to PM you my pick. I don't want to send it to Pizan as he selects two slots ahead of me and is already aware of my football prowess!
  8. I'm not arguing your point. I wholeheartedly agree that we shouldn't gamble on Allen in the first few rounds. The injury risk is too much. Gateb asked a question of if we should take Allen in the 3rd round if he were available and at that point I think he definitely merits strong consideration. However it all depends on who we've already drafted. If we go Cromartie in the first round then heck no. Last thing we need is two crippled players!
  9. Yeah .. things are looking up for me. I saw that my Islanders beat on the Rangers last night. Unfortunately I'll have to pin my postseason hopes on my "other" team, the Carolina Hurricanes.

    Jeff Feagles

He's had a long career and thus he's in a position to claim a bunch of records. However he absolutely is NOT the best punter of all time.

Jeff Feagles is not the best punter in league history.
  12. He's RUMORED to have a degenerative hip condition. It isn't definitive.
  13. It is uncanny. And yes, Coyle is a widely respected Draft Guy. What's that saying? Even a blind squirrel finds a nut?
  14. From a value standpoint alone I wouldn't shy away from him in those rounds however I'll also add that my decision would largely be based on what positions we took in rounds 1-2.
  15. OK Penn State fans ... here's a trivia question for you .... Who are the only two guys to attend Brooklyn Prep and win the Rose Bowl? answer below: Joe Paterno and my Grandfather!
  16. While I realize the Vikings pick was made off a chart, not by the team, I think they should've taken Ernie Sims in that slot. I also think every team that passed on Sims from that point on made a mistake as he would've won a starting gig on every one of those franchises this season. Imagine Sims on the Cowboys across from Ware? Frightening. I echo Hank's thoughts on Allen. I posted earlier today about a rumor I heard saying the kid's hip injury was a degenerative condition. Sucks for Allen, sucks worse for Goliath! I don't have a problem with the Bengals Bing pick. Yes he's considered a reach at that point but every review also goes on to say he's a steal in round 2. The Bengals have a definite need there. Bing seems like an exceptional run support safety. I like the pick regardless of what the charts say. Ryans is a perfect fit for the Giants. I wonder where Money got the idea although I'll listen to the Greenway argument. I wouldn't have wanted to make that choice. Ryans over the other options was definitely the best route though. Cromartie to the Bears is a dream come true for Chicago. Excellent pick. I hate to knock the Fab 4 but given some of the guys who were available, I think Pope was a mistake. I also think you could've gotten similar value at TE in the 2nd round. Passing on Greenway at that point is very suspect. You could even make an argument for Watson given Jenkins injury history although I'm not sure how you would've defended the drafting of a lazy Defensive Tackle! Carpenter is a good fit for Jags. But again, I can't recommend him over Greenway. Methinks the Jets might've been better off taking Nick Mangold than Eric Winston. Talk about your dream draft for the Jets.... replacing Mawae with Mangold .. not too shabby. My mind isn't made up yet but I'd tend to agree at this point that I'd take Youboty over the other corners listed although I don't think Seattle can count on him making a difference this year. Indy strikes gold with the Greenway freefall. Pittsburgh takes the smart, non-flashy pick in Mangold. Good first round fellas
  17. I don't know that I'm down on any of these cornerback prospects. I just feel that each of them carries a bit of a risk although for different reasons. Obviously not all of them will pan out but I have to admit, I'm scared at the prosepct of going corner in round 1 just becuase there's so little concensus at the position. Sometime before the draft I'll revisit this post and rank these DB's how I see 'em. I'm still not done researching them. I think Hali is going to fall to the middle of the second round due to his tweener status.
  18. Go HERE That's our likely target.
  19. Hey, I started this days before the mock began! Of course had we started the mock a week sooner like I wanted to you wouldn't be in this mess now would you?
  20. Once again, hindsight is 20/20 There is no way on God's green Earth the Giants should've taken anyone but William Joseph with the 25th pick in the draft. Hamilton was done, we had a gaping hole at Defensive Tackle. Joseph was a concensus top 15 pick that season who fell to us. It was one of those rare times a highly rated player in a need position just happens to fall in your lap. If you want to call Joseph a disappointment so far in his career feel free, although even that is debateable, but there's no way anybody can say the Giants were foolish to have taken him in that slot. All you guys yearning for a Defensive Tackle this season ... if Haloti Ngata fell all the way to the Giants at 25 this year what would you say? It's a pretty similar comparison as similar to Ngata, must draftboards had Joseph getting picked between 11 and 15.
  21. Like many of you, I tend to view mock drafts more as entertainment than for informational purposes, however I have noticed that a comparison of multiple mock drafts by credible industry sources can identify which players are rising and falling. I started doing that this week and checked out close to 10 mocks from different draft sites. Here's what I noticed: The most consistent trend is that the Running Backs (Bush excluded) are falling. LenDale White's freefall is a bit expected based on his poor Pro Day and worse attitiude. But DeAngelo Williams also seems to have slipped. Few mock drafts have Williams going in the top 20 at this point, which is a bit surprising considering his solid combine and good character. The only RB who appears to have gained a bit is Laurence Maroney who is being mentioned for the Colts at the end of the first. Still I think this is a case of Maroney's skill set matching Indy well and draftniks overanalyzing the loss of Ed James. By simply grading the player, most sites don't assign a first round value on Maroney. If there's one player nobody agrees on it's Jay Cutler. A few sources think he could go top 5. There are a couple more who think the Raiders may take him in the top 10 (methinks unlikely), then there are multiple teams in the 11-15 range who could arguably take him. He really is a bit of an X-Factor. Nobody knows where he'll end up. Personally I don't think he goes top 10. I do think he could slide all the way to Miami at 16. I can't see him getting past the Vikings at 17 but if they had to choose between he and Ernie Sims ... well I guess I could see him sliding further! Cornerback ... land of the bust? GM's need to tread carefully at the CB slot this season. There isn't a single textbook shutdown corner in the draft. Usually there's at least one. Every one of the top candidates seems to carry some risk. Look no further than the lack of a concensus opinion on the prospect rankings. If none of the sources can decide who's best you have to consider that any early pick spent on a corner is a significant risk. - Jimmy Williams carries the highest grade according to most sources but most felt, prior to his senior season, that he'd be a top 10 selection. He didn't quite fulfill that expectation. Getting kicked out of the ACC Championship game didn't help. Frank Coyle has Williams as the 3rd ranked CB in the draft, the worst I've see him ranked. - Ashton Youboty ... some pub's have him going top 20, others have him mid second round. Youboty has fine measurables and likely won't dissapoint but I can't help but feel he's getting an inflated grade based on the relative success of recent Ohio State corners. Unlike guys like Chris Gamble, I don't see Youboty being able to contribute immediately. Remember, he skipped his senior season. Good prospect, but needs a year of seasoning. - Antonio Cromartie really tests the boundaries. It comes down to this. Do you believe he's fully recovered from injury? If so, he carries a first round grade. If not, he falls into the second. One factor that likely helps Cromartie's stature ... he gambled by declaring for the draft after his Junior season. Coming off a knee injury he had to know he would be dogged by scouts about his health. He'd also need to put on an excellent performance at the Combine. You simply don't make the decision to go Pro as a Junior unless you're confident you'll be taken in the first 50 picks. Cromartie has answered his critics thus far. Still, a knee injury can't be erased. - Tye Hill - There's no question he's fast. The combine proved that which we already knew. But what else can he do? He got beat deep at the Senior Bowl due to bad reads. Will the menatl game match up with his incredible physical skills? If so he might be the best corner in the draft. If not he's simply a guy with track star speed trying to play in the NFL, which history has shown to be a short career. - Jonathan Joseph - Played only 14 games at D-1 level after transferring from Junior College. He measured up well against tough competition in the SEC but the sample size is admittedly small. Joseph would be a much safer pick if there was more to go on, but similar to Youboty, he declared after his Junior year. Scouts say he has Pro Bowl ability but is raw. The NFL, and the unemployment line, are littered with guys fitting that description. Other players who are all over the place in mock drafts: DE Tamba Hali - Tweener type. DT Gabe Watson LB Kamerion Wimbley LB Chad Greenway In a draft with so many players rising and falling, you have to admit, there are precious few safe picks. GM's everywhere are likely losing sleep over this draft.
  22. I'm changing my stance on DB Jason Allen. He ran great at the combine but I heard a rumor that his hip injury is potentially degenerative. Upon further thought, it's not worth the risk at our spot to take that gamble. I applaud the kid for the obvious hard work he's put into his rehab. I wouldn't even have a problem selecting him in later rounds but given this tidbit of info, I don't like the thought of gambling on him.
  23. I'd like to add WR Brandon Marshall to my sleeper list. This guy isn't getting nearly enough attention. I can understand that playing in Conference USA will work against him but his Senior Bowl performances were stellar. He's my 3rd rated WR and yes, I'd take him ahead of Sinorice Moss. Another grossly underrated O-Lineman is Center Greg Eslinger from Minnesota. Nick Mangold is getting all the press at the position but Eslinger won the Outland and Rimington awards his senoior season. In case you live in a cave, those awards go to the Best LINEMAN, not Center, in the Nation. He's got excellent agility and pulls better than any interior prospect in the draft.
