According to Banks' twitter feed, it was pretty much common knowledge but the team couldn't do anything about it because of the union. They couldn't prove that he was using phantom injuries to sit on his ass and collect a paycheck while the team struggled and everyone else played hurt through a losing season. Sounds to me like Banks waited until he was officially let go so that he could blast him.....as a Giants employee (or affiliated through his radio job), I'm sure he was just waiting until he could call him out.
