Virginia Giant
The team that has handled it's business on defense the last few weeks or the team that made Grossman look like Montana? Will Bradshaw and Jacobs keep the good work going and pound the d into submission, and will Eli keep doing what he's done all year in hoisting this offense on his shoulders to keep them in games for 60 minutes? or will it be the offense that can't get it going until it's too late? We can't start this game with 3 or 4 punts and a turnover. The way i figure it the d is going to have to force some early punts, just a couple, let our offense get it together. the offense needs to start the game with an effective running game and short passing game. the game will end up being a shootout but early on they need to grind the ball out and have a couple long, drawn out possessions ending with scores. Keep our D fresher than theirs at the end of the game. I know this is football 101 stuff, but we can't come out and try to go toe to toe with green bay's passing game, not that i don't think eli, nicks, cruz and co don't have the ability, but it's just eventual that they'll punt a few times and i have lingering doubts that fewell will keep the sunshine on his face forever. The front 4 needs to get mad pressure alone, blitzing might be playing into rodgers' hands.
Allstarjim
Yeah VG, I agree. The offense really has to be efficient in this game, getting touchdowns and not settling for 3. Tom is going to probably have to go for it on 4th down a couple of times and take some chances. I do believe that we have a better defense than they do. But the Packers offense, they just know how to get those short, quick completions to negate the pass rush. It's all hands on deck. If we get a few stops early, and jump out to an early lead, then I hope the Giants can start to dictate the flow of the game with the ground and pound. But easier said than done. I do think the Giants are up to it and hopefully Gilbride and Fewell have very aggressive game plans in place. Can't be conservative against this team... go toe to toe and start swinging. Serby had a good article on this....basically take a page from Romeo Crennel's playbook. http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/giants/big_blueprint_f5s5UR5xShhyJzNQBxyOaP Fortunately, the stuff the Chiefs did is very similar to what the Giants did against the Falcons.
