Three more Giants faced grand jury

Three more members of the Giants’ organization, including two former players, testified recently in front of the grand jury investigating the Plaxico Burress shooting, the Daily News has learned.

Jessie Armstead, Charles Way, and Ronnie Barnes all “voluntarily” appeared before the grand jury, according to a source familiar with the situation. The specifics of their testimony were not immediately clear, nor is it known if any of them facing the possibility of any charges. But all three were believed to be involved in the aftermath of the incident that occurred last Nov. 29

Armstead, a former Giants linebacker, is now a special assistant to the coaching staff. Way, a former Giants fullback, is the team’s director of player development. Barnes is the team’s vice president of medical services.

The Giants had said that both Pierce and the doctor on call at the Hospital for Special Surgery that night called Barnes after the shooting to inform him of the incident. A team source said linebacker Antonio Pierce - - who was with Burress that night and is facing possible charges - - likely called Way, too, since he’s the person players are instructed to call when they run into trouble.

A decision on possible indictments on Burress and Pierce could come as early as today. Pierce, who is scheduled to be on the field with the Giants for their first practice of training camp this morning, allegedly took Burress’ gun from the scene at The Latin Quarter club in Manhattan and transported it to Burress’ home in Totowa, N.J. The charge he’s believed to be facing is the same as Burress - - possession of a loaded an unlicensed firearm, which carries a mandatory minimum of 3 ½ years in prison.

The testimony of Way, Barnes and Armstead, who is close to Pierce, could help the grand jury establish a timeline of the aftermath and determine what instructions Pierce was given by members of the Giants organization.

Pierce has not commented on the case so far, and team officials say he is not likely to do so until after the grand jury announces it’s decision.

One can only say is that I wish just as much man power/resources were used to track down the killer of a crack addicted prostitute as is being done in this case. Hopefully for Mayor for Life...and the D.A. Who Will Not Die...that they never get involved in a situation where if they were not a celebrity they would be judged on the merits of the case rather than being used a political fodder by another politician. What a waste of resources.

Plax is being treated quite unfairly, in that regard. I feel for the guy...your fellow receiver gets held up a week earlier, you feel the need for protection as an athlete, so you got yourself a gun, and being a dumbass, not only don't know how to properly holster it, but you don't even know if it's legal for you to possess it....his own fault but it is pretty pathetic the DA is on some vendetta against athletes not getting punished enough for crimes.

I sound like a broken record but where are these DAs in the Mike Vick and Donte Stallworth cases? Is it the state of NY?
