    by using the Giants

  2. There goes the Cowboys momentum, all gone with one of the stupidest passes

    I've seen all year.

"Let's throw it into double coverage, and one of those guys covering is Ed Reed."

Are you surprised? We're talking about Romo here. Great fantasy QB, not so great real one.

  3. The lastest episode is a year in review in sports. The first segment focuses on the Giants Super Bowl win, in particular, Tyree's catch.

Guests are Strahan, Umenyiora, Tyree, and Rodney Harrison.

As Giant fans, you'll enjoy the segment.

I checked the listings, and it is on again tomorrow on HBO at 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. on HBOW. HBOW is channel 504 for those with Directv.

  4. Perhaps someday...you will get to see just how "professional" the Mets will be, after a WS win.

The Mets have been "professionals" by never really responding to the Phillies and their obsession with the Mets.

This whole saga is somewhat distorted, usually the perennial loser is the one yapping away.

I just don't get it. Phillies, you WON!

  5. surprising based on the fact that it is a pretty big game, so the dog will ask, in your opinion, while this is not a must win for tthe giants theoretically, do you believe it is a must win game?

Yes, because we need the bye, which can also be had next week, but we also need home field advantage, because the Panthers are undefeated at home.

  6. The way I see it.. every team has weaknesses. Once other teams figure out what that weakness is, they'll attack it till we fix it. On the defense our weakness is at the LB position. It seems passes are always completed right down the middle. Our pass rush is still adequate but let's not forget we lost Osi early on.

Our WR although not superb didn't have time to get open since our O-Line played like shit.. and we all know where Plax is and quite frankly the 2 big drops by Hixon are inexcusable.. you don't have to be a super start to catch those passes.

If you are referring to the Philly drop, I agree.

If you are referring to the one in which Newman held his arm, that was a tough one.

  7. this is from Tom Rock LINK

So we root for the Falcons to win and Hopefully this will take most of the pressure off of the G-men going into the Carolina game. The bye would be secure but not Home field. Although I want to see us get it done and Over Sunday night with a WIN It will make watching the Giants Game a lot less stressful if the Falcons win . ...... GO TURNER GO .

Vikings DT Pat Williams is OUT for Falcon's game. That helps.

2 weeks ago I didn't think I'd have to root for a team to lose, but the Giants NEED that bye week in the worst way so I'll take it however it comes.

  8. arizona's style of play will hurt them in the end...although the dog thinks they are the type of team that could pull an upset off or get out of the first round, they don't run the ball well, and the defense is suspect - the two things necessary to make a serious run...

This is why the 6er is least concerned with them. If they were to play the Giants, it would be in Jersey in January, which will not be advantage Cardinals and their passing attack. I also don't truly think they belong, and are just a good team in a bad division.

  9. if the offensive line gets dominated like they did last night, it doesn't matter who is back there...and no, the dog doesn't think jacobs makes a difference with what took place...

The 6er agrees with this statement, but still feels that the dog is wrong about Jacobs in general.

  10. but, if you saw, there were several plays where they were a close to breaking it and changing the face of the game with a big play...the dog thinks this is the difference. and bradshaw hits the hole hard everytime...maybe you are right, that it is mostly giant fans when it comes to the constant praise for jacobs. that being said, the dog doesn't see why it can't be looked at realistically....

and last night, the o-line was significantly outplayed, so it is hard to judge ward/bradshaw on that game.

But they didn't "break it". I'm not judging Ward and Bradshaw based on last night's game. I think they are both good backs. I'm just saying Jacobs is more important to the success of this team than you give hime credit for.

  11. the dog knew this would come at some point....the fact is, the cowboy defense dominated the o-line last night, and a majority of the handoffs were met with immediate defensive penetration...believe it or not, jacobs does not hit the l.o.s. at full tilt unless there is a gaping hole - he stops and dances...in the end, he would not be a changing factor in that game...without the ability to stretch the defense, teams can load up on the run/blitz manning and play single coverage on the outside, which is what happened.

by the way, the dog doesn't think jacobs is a bad back, just overrated...

And this is why it came up. I believe you may have stated that Ward and/or Bradshaw are bette equipped to make something out of nothing. Well, last night they were given nothing to work with, and got nothing.

Overrated by who? Other than Giant fans, I've never once heard anyone say he was a great back. What we do hear is that he is "bruising" etc.. Even this year, most of praise was being directed to the offensive line. Who's overrating this guy?

Fans of teams usually overrate their favorite players, so I doubt you feel he's overrated based on what you read hear. I think you may be going out of your way to underrate his importance to this team.

  12. just to appease the dog's curiosity, if you are not concerned with any nfc team, is there a team that concerns you? just for the record, regardless of what happens this week, the panthers are a scary team for anyone...the vikings have hit their stride and tend to give the giant's fits when they are not a playoff team, let alone when they are playing well...the cowboys and eagles, should they get in, become very dangerous wildcard teams, and the bucs have experience/good defense/solid run game all of which equate to being a threat in the playoffs...

the giants are a good team, but to not be concerned about any of these teams is a bit naive...even the falcons and cardinals have the potential to knock off any other team in it...this is too wide-open a league to not fear any playoff team...

The 6er is concerned about every team. Any team can put it together on any given Sunday.

I'd say I'm least concerned about Arizona, though.

  13. The 6er is interested in the Dog's and Egg's opinion on how or if things might have been different had Jacobs played. This is not me saying the outcome would have been different, that is just impossible to know, I'm just curious if their opinions have changed a little about Jacobs himself.

It is my opinion that you guys don't give him enough credit for what he does. I know the O-line stunk up the joint, but I do believe Jacobs might have been able to at least get some kind of running game going.

The loss of Burress is big, bigger than alot of us wanted to believe. The loss of Jacobs on top of that is devastating.

  14. I would agree with you except that there is more going on here. The Giants have not locked anything up. There is a chance that they could go in as the 2nd or 3rd seed. This would be a huge failure in light of how they played the first 10-11 weeks. More importantly, as the 3rd seed, they would not get a much needed rest, and that week off is much more important than any NFC East crown. Watch out if they lose this week. They never seem to play well against the Vikes.

The other issue is whether the Giants are really cruising because they locked up the East, or whether the problem is that they have no legitimate big play threats down the field. At least not at the moment. Who should teams fear stretching the field?

Also, Coughlin does not strike me as a coach that would coach like things are locked up, and the fact that Manning was still throwing with 45 seconds last night speaks to this. Nobody is burying them, but they suddenly have some issues.

Are you saying Coughlin was coaching as if he thought the game could still be won?
