  1. Took the words right out of my mouth! It's not like A-Rod won a ring with the help of steroids, right? He's a fucking fraud and will always be one...steroids or not! Mickeef, I saw one of your posts about this being the year where fans start drifting away from baseball. I couldn't agree with you more except for the fact that I think it began a year or 2 ago. I'm sure you have noticed, but I've been ragging on MLB for the past couple of seasons or so. I think ALL the players are overpaid and I think the fans are the ones getting fucked year in and year out. I heard that season ticket holders for various MLB teams are given a season supply of KY Jelly to grease up their anuses before each game because they are ALL getting fucked. Forget about taking my family to a Yankee game this year. I would rather save the money towards a new HDTV flat screen and watch it at home.....if, of course, I'm up to it! :TD:

I'm with you. I used to go to about 8-10 games a year, but have gone to none the past 2 seasons. It's too expensive, and as much as I really want to see the Mets' new stadium, I don't think I will be going. At least not this year.

  2. That is an interesting sentence.

It's true. Every time I'm watching espnews or listening to the radio in the car and baseball is the subject, it's always about fucking steroids now. I used to turn it off to shield him from it, because I didn't want him to think that was the way to go in sports. Now, since he's been playing football, I try to teach him the dangers of it and let him see and hear the ridicule these guys have to deal with when they get caught.

  3. Well, 114 others werent named. I wouldnt be shocked if Jeter has tried it once.

114 others would need to be penalized as well if they are going to take action on Arod. This singling out shit is nonsense.

No action will be taken, he'll just have to live with the mark of shame for the rest of his career. And singling out A-Rod should be expected. You make potentially $305 million, and there's a target on your back.

  4. Am I shocked? No.

    Am I sad? Yes.

No matter if you love or hate Arod, this is a catastrophic day for baseball. This just proves that every single one of these superstar power hitters was juicing. Arod was supposed to be the guy who was working out 3 hours a day, busting his ass the natural way and consistently hitting well over his career.

Now what? You have to seriously look at every guy who has any suspicion and say he's been juicing. Howard, Ortiz, Pujols, Fielder. They were all juicing. Any guy who came close to 50 homers was on roids in my opinion. Even guys who were in the 40's have to be questioned.

And now would be a good time for Arod to turn the corner on his reputation. It's time to start being honest and come clean. He needs to stop being fake and arrogant. It's time to come back to reality. You're caught -- apologize, admit to it, call it a mistake and move on.

And that is what I hate about all this. Every player who accomplishes something great will be looked at suspiciously. I really never thought A-Rod was juicing, although I'm not surprised, and actually wanted him to break Bonds' record so it wouldn't be tainted.

  5. Uh yeah, but it wasn't cheating in 03 according MLB rules and this "survey" was supposed to be confidential. There are 114 others listed but none have been leaked. Pile that on the Mitchell report, it's pretty much everyone in baseball at that time.

I will agree, it's disgusting he did it, but lets be real for a second...put yourself in his or any MLB players mind then, if everyone is doing it and it's not against the rules, you wouldn't try it?

It was always cheating. Just because the morons who made the rules didn't call it illegal, doesn't mean it's not cheating. Body builders in your local YMCA who do it are cheating. I'm pretty sure A-Rod wasn't openly getting shot up in the clubhouse because "everyone is doing it and it's not considered cheating".

This thing goes way beyond A-Rod. Too many people turned a blind eye and let this get out of control, because everyone was getting rich, and baseball was booming. I'm just disagreeing with those who want to give A-Rod a pass. When the so called best player in the game gets busted for performance enhancement, it's a big deal.

Every time some cheater gets outed, I have more respect for guys like Jeter. If he ever gets named, I might shoot myself.

  6. I'm sick of this guy. I feel like he's been the Mets top prospect, and 20 years old, since 1947.

He'll never suit up for the Mets, or he'll get traded for a weak hitting catcher and an oft injured outfielder.

  7. Just because he's not the only one to have ever done it, doesn't give A-Rod a pass. If this is true, then he's a cheater, and will forever be tainted like McGwire, Bonds etc... The guy is the highest paid player ever, and fans are the ones who pay for it. Shame on him if it's true.

You can't bring up bats, tightly wound balls etc., because in that aspect, it's a level playing field. Every pitcher uses the same ball. Every hitter has access to the same bats. Cheating is cheating, and one guy doesn't get a pass because he's not the only cheater.

My son associates every great baseball feat with steroids now, because that's all he sees on TV or hears on the radio. This whole era sucks!

  8. If Eli Manning never wins another playoff game do we still describe him with one word "greatness"? If so, by all means, pay him $150,000,000 and erect a statue of him in place of the statue of liberty...

Hmm, not long ago people were ready to erect statues of Romo and were one postseason win away from anointing him as "great". Of course, he doesn't ever play well when the stakes are high, but he still got himself a nice 67 million dollar payday for putting up good fantasy numbers. Good for Tony. Hardly worth it, IMO.

Maybe someday he and the Cowboys will be showcased on "America's Game: The Missing Rings"

  9. Many qb's could have won those games? You mean beaten one of the top ranked defenses in Tampa, the 13-3 Cowboys in their house, and the Pack who never lose playoff games at home? Oh and top it off with beating an 18-0 team which averaged 36 points per game and broke all kinds of NFL records? All qb's could have done that.... and only thrown 1 interception in that stretch?

Romo could have done it? Romo couldn't beat a rookie qb in his own house, in the last game ever in the Cowboys stadium in a must win game. The football Gods gave him a miracle 2nd opportunity to make the playoffs in Philly and he choked it away again. But he could have won those 4 games EASILY huh? Interesting.

Even that wasn't his fault, as it was in Smith's hands and bounced off.

Everyone knows Eli played very well in the postseason last year, and that Romo never has and probably never will. He's a loser playing on a team of losers.

He's right about one thing, Eli doesn't win that ring without the rest of the team, especially the defense. But it goes both ways. Eli played flawlessy, and without that, they wouldn't have won it. You can't expect a Cowboy fan to comprehend the fact that football is a TEAM game, and no one man can do it alone. Eagle fans understand this, as they've been watching one man carry them for years, but keep coming up short.

  10. He's durable, tough mentally, and he's a winner.

Sounds like alot of money, and it is, but you just don't find good NFL QBs on trees, and that's what Eli is.

I wish he'd be more consistent, but that's Eli. I used to be real hard on the guy, but I'm glad he's going to be ours for a long time.

  11. oh come on, you know the dog can't stay away from jacobs...and when he is unable to get that yard in that situation, it speaks to what the dog has said about him all year...needless to say, he is a good back, but to pay him big money for the future could be a mistake...

Why isn't the dog bringing up the 1st down he got on 4th and 2 on the game's first drive?

I suspect that he just wasn't as healthy as he was letting on. This has nothing to do with him not getting the 1st down late in the game. All game long I remember asking, "Where's Jacobs?" There were long stretches where he wasn't on the field.

I don't see how someone can find fault with this guy after running for 92 yards on 19 carries against the no.3 defense on a less than 100% leg. He's the only one who had an impact offensively.

No one has ever said he's an elite back, but he is unique, and his physical style of running is fun to watch. So what if he gets tackled for a loss once in awhile, or didn't come up with the alleged huge 4th down conversion with the team already down 2 scores? He was the least of their problems. Looks like someone is just trying to stir the pot. You'd have more credibility if you went after Eli on this one.

  12. Eli needs to spend the next 4 months in the Arctic learning how to throw in -80 weather and 30phm winds.

Then maybe he can play in his own stadium.

I'm hoping the new stadium is less prone to tricky wind conditions. Eli did it in Green Bay, so I don't think it's the cold, it's that god damned wind.

  13. so when shockey (or any number of receivers) would catch a pass for 4 yards and get up screaming and hollaring and pointing at defenders, that was all OK? look, the dog doesn't support taunting in anyway, but this was mild...and much todo about nothing...

Difference is Shockey would do that at any time, not just when the game was well in hand. I didn't like what McNabb did, and just so you know, I didn't like Strahan calling out the Patriots during last year's parade. Both were unnecessary, and somewhat classless.

I like McNabb, always have, and wouldn't mind seeing him win a title. Just not this year.

  14. it wasn't nice, no...but when in the moment, athletes will do that kind of thing. he has been battered all of his career, and he just handles it...to the dog, that was less of an issue than the obnoxious endzone celebrations that occur in football (which by the way, the dog has no issue with either)...the dog wonders, does anyone find it classless when jacobs threw the ball at the buccanears emblem after scoring last year? at the star in texas stadium wall? no - why? because he is a giant and was just being exuberant....it is all the same and part of the game. to highlight that is just sour grapes...

He didn't throw the ball at emblems, he threw it the playclocks.

  15. Plaxico is an ass that was seemingly forgotten about (by the team) on the very next day. We played like champs in his absence, and should have continued in that game. The Eagles did not play well, they got lucky and we should have won that game. Carney misses 2, Eli throws a critical pick and Coughlin should have taken the wind in the 4th quarter. We could all go on forever with the Monday morning quarterbacking...but those three stick out in my mind has turning that game right over to the Eagles. :furious::furious:

3rd and 20 will sting for me. After that play, I just knew it was gonna snowball.

The 1st Eli pick was obviously a killer, but that was an impressive 3 yard TD drive for Philly. Give em credit.

About the wind, I was scratching my head on that one. What the the hell were they thinking?

  16. Agreed. I just want to move on and get ready for next yr. <_<

Yeah, me too. I have to admit though, I'm not nearly as bummed as I was excited last year. I think it's a combination of knowing that championships are hard to come by, and thinking that if this team stays together, they'll be contenders for a while. That's all you can ask for, then you hope things go your way in the playoffs.

  17. I blame Carney. :brooding:

He deserves some of it as well. He makes those kicks, it could be a different game. No way we go for it on 4th down twice in the 4th quarter if those kicks were made.

Alot of blame to go around in this one, and yes, I'm blaming Plaxico too. :furious:

  18. One other thing, this idea that the town is more of a Jet town because they talk about them on WFAN more is absurd. Know why they have talked about the Jets more? Because they are a train wreck, and people love train wrecks. From the Favre thing, to the collapse of their season to the firing there is more drama there than in a daytime soap opera. The 2008 Giants, they were a bore all they did was win and radio station hosts know they can get listeners and ratings by firing up the masses. Aside from Plax there was no story to the Giants other than the fact they won. Fear not now though, after dropping a playoff game and now all the drama I spoke of will arsise you will get plenty of Giant talk this week.

Good points, and all you have to do is look at this message board. Last week, not much action. Today, plenty!

  19. well, so it is...although it may not feel like it to giant fans, the dog has to say that it really was the entertaining game the dog was hoping for in the sense that it was a typical physical, hard battle between division rivals in the playoffs (albeit sloppy and ugly at times, it had a level of intensity for a good part of the game, and it did come down to the end to the 4th quarter). For what it is worth, the dog has a number of points regarding this game...

As much as the defense played solidly for both sides, the dog has that continual issue with prevent/soft defense late in the half/games. It seemed like something small at the time, but to allow the eagles and mcnabb to get into a rhythem on the final drive when they had 34 yards of offense until then, and to have that result in the loss of the lead was critical to momentum...

the eagles had more intensity and played with more urgency overall...period.

manning reverted back and struggled with weather - gilbride takes the heat, and possibly justifiably so, but manning still has to execute...if he hits dixon open deep, or smith open on a play, the giants score two more td's, and nobody is talking about gilbride being a failure today...

again, although in the minority, the dog doesn't get the jacobs fascination - sorry, but fourth a foot is exactly why the "earth" gets paid (and will ask for big money this offseason)...the fact that they didn't give it to him the first attempt speaks volumes to the dog (and has happened in past games). he has to get this...he didn't.

how does coughlin not know it is 4th and 2 (the dog heard he admitted to this, but not sure if this is true)???

there are others, but contrary to what many believe, the dog is not interested in beating down anyone 24 hours after a collapse...

anyway, it is what it is...

I don't agree with this. The Giant defense was very intense, and played with a great sense of urgency, and that was clear every time Westbrook touched the ball. Giants ran ball the well for the most part, and I don't think Eli was sacked once, against a spirited and ferocious defense, so there must have been some intense and urgent line play going on there as well.
