  1. How do you guys feel about us faking injury to stop the hurry-up?

I'm not sure why it got as much publicity as it did, seeing as just the day before the Chargers did it twice to the Pats. I guess because it was more obviously faked by us and also on MNF?

As a side note, I was recently watching parts of SB 42 with Strahan's commentary and he was saying that on the Patriots scoring drive in the 4th the defense was completely gassed, and after the completion that made it 1st and Goal Fred Robbins gets hurt and has to be walked off- Strahan said yes Robbins was slightly banged up but basically he could of got up and that he sat there and faked injury and walked off slow to give the Giants a chance to catch their breath because they were running on empty at that point. Interesting.

  2. Of course it'll mean a lot. This defense is built around the pass rush. Last week with JPP and Tollefson, we were adequate, which is very impressive considering those are theoretically our third and fourth DE's, but the pass rush needs to be excellent, not adequate, for this defense to hum. And it will be excellent when we have all those guys back.

There are three things that looked really positive to me. First of all Kenny Philips. He looked a step or two slow closing to the ball in preseason, but last week he showed it was just that, preseason. He was quick to the ball and hit hard. I look forward to him separating many a receiver from the ball this season. Also Linval Joseph looked like he was getting a good push, I'm excited to see what he can do. And third, losing Goff is a big loss, and Greg Jones isn't quite the All-pro we hope he may be some day, but he's good enough that we aren't hemorrhaging at that position, which is huge for the defense.

I still think Ross is garbage. I also think Corey Webster has been mailing it in. He needs to step up.

  3. Eli's having girl trouble....guy is a veteran, and though he has always made some bad decisions, has always made some bad throws, recently he's looked completely in a fog just making his reads. Shouldn't be happening to him, and I guarantee you he's having some trouble at home. Think Pau Gasol. Nothing like a girl to get in someone's head.

    Time will tell.

  4. Dodge should get some props for fielding that terrible snap absolutely cleanly from DeOssie....and there's no way adjusting to the terrible snap didn't throw him off a bit on the kick...

Once you're fielding a one hop snap you're not thinking coffin corner punt you're thinking just get this darn punt off...and rightfully so...

  5. Outside of Jernigan not being able to catch the ball and Eli's head-scratchers, this annoyed me the most about last night's game.

I mean seriously??? Why the heck is a chunk of my screen being taken up by completely pointless tweets from what seems like 16 year old girls? I think the whole idea is stupid, I think it'd be salvageable if they got someone knowledgeable and fascinating, like Jon Gruden, to tweet in. That would be salavageable, and still stupid and unnecessary. But random tweets from people saying the most dumb and generic things? Seriously who thought this up?

(I'm not sure if this is in the wrong forum, if it is my bad.)

  6. The 22 offensive and defensive starters on this team can run with anybody in the league...yes the second half of the schedule is brutal, and will require us to man up or we will lose many games, but we can go toe to toe with anybody in this league. Did anybody see what Nicks and Mannigham were able to accomplish against Revis-Cromartie? With Eli COMPLETELY out of whack? I'm not scared of the Eagles secondary.

I'm not scared of anyone.....maybe GB....this team can play.

(This is all assuming our special teams improves from poor to at least below average...if our special teams stays where it was last night than sadly as good as we are on offense and defense we will not be able to really compete consistently and close out games with the elite teams...this was fishgut's point last night...we're good, but not good enough to overcome the kind of special teams issues we had last night.)

  7. We will see

Hopefully all we'll see is someone else returning punts. They were saying Jernigan was having trouble catching punts in practice too. It's happening both in practice and in the game??? He's out.

Dude he's failing at something that should be an automatic absolute given. He cannot be our punt returner.

  8. He had a good PR earlier, and yea

    I agree he should

Be on the bench for now, but I meant that toward the people who want him cut

He didn't have a "good" punt return...he had some open space and ran into it...like a pancy I might add...

That's the type of return that any, and I'm being literal, any returner in the entire history of the NFL makes. All he did on that play was not do anything stupid.

  9. I have to say, outside of Jernigan the entire team looked great except for Eli..now that's a VERY big except, but come on....

Offensive line seems to have gotten it together pretty quick...especially the running game.

  10. He needs time chill the he'll out people

He can spend his time on the bench....he's shown nothing but an inability to catch the ball and complete hesitation and lack of elusiveness when he does....he's yet to even so much as flash a single skill a returner needs...

  11. The way the refs were spotting the ball for the Jets on that drive earlier, we'd have a TD there.

Ten bucks says Rex mouths off about that drive after the game, but we had to do it we needed our first team to do something.

  12. No, you can't guarantee 20 years from Dodge..you can't see the future. Yeah, he looks great in games that mean dick..but I have no doubt when they start counting...this guy will start putting up lame ducks.

I hear ya loud and clear...you have all the leverage in this argument...dude has one full NFL season under his belt and he completely sucked for that season.

I just feel like his problems were mostly if not entirely mental, and it's my hunch that he can and will overcome that. Just a hunch though, I'm ain't guaranteeing squat. That's why I keep saying that while I like Dodge and think he'll put it together, I'm not sure a team with playoff aspirations could rationally pick him over Weatherford.

  13. I'm not buying Matt Dodge shit.

Jerry Reese and Coughlin dropped the ball when they should have realized "HEY, THIS DOUCHE MIGHT COST US A GAME"

Between dropped snaps, helicopters for kicks and fucking up the holds on field goals...just get him off the team.

You'll see, in exchange for that year of mediocre-terrible punting we'll have 20 years of excellence from Dodge. Or a different team will if we go the safe (smart?) route in Weatherford.

Though for sure, there's no questioning he was absolutely god-awful last year in every single way.
