  1. Oh fuck off, I was always referring to yardage. You're right that I missed Austin though, plumb forgot about him until you mentioned him. That was a fuck up for sure.

haha touchy. one of those guys who hates to say he's wrong, right?

next time just say what you mean and no one will be confused by your ignorance

you see, saying 'leading receiver' can mean several things. most targeted, most catches, most yards.

specify like i did from the start

  2. ha ha ha...the dog loves it. golfingguy...treehugger....etc...etc...yeah, the dog gets "pulled in hook, line and sinker"...right. one cowboy fan posts one thread and you all spend the better part of the day responding. ha ha ha...too funny. too easy...too predictable...ha ha ha...WOO!

on that note, the dog is happy to see more diversity in here...and logic...

hi dog are you a boyz fan as well?

are there more of us here?

is it typical that there is such a complete lack of humor or amicability here?

  3. Catches though, not yardage, which was what I looked up:

    Cowboys 6-10

    Cleveland 5-11

    San Fran 6-10

    Oakland 8-8

Not a good trend, elite TE or not.

    haha I smell bullshit gunslinger

why didn't you mention yards before? I've mentioned I was talking leading in catches 3 or 4 times in this thread, and you don't specify yards until you're proven wrong.

    cowardly, shameful

i can't talk football with a coward, sorry

btw you have to take the boyz off that list. witten led in recs, austin led in yards.

    guffaw!!!

  4. I did some homework gunslinger. time consuming so hope ur apprec.

I only looked at the last two years because it takes so long to chk every teams leader boards.

    2010

6 teams with te's leading catches.

    combined record 46-50

I would also include san diego. gates had more catches than anyone other than sproles. and since rb's are the true safety valve in the passing game it doesn't help your argument.

one could put an asterisk on the pats and include them considering both te's combined for more catches than any single wr/rb. And that rarely happens so they should be included in my opinion.

combined record w/ pats and chargers incl. 69-59

broken down thats 4 teams over 500 and 4 teams at or below. 2 and 4 resp w/o the pats and sd ofcourse.

Not too damning by 2010 alone.

    2009

8 teams with te's leading catches

    combined record 72-56

broken down thats again 4 over and 4 at/below .500

one of the losing teams btw is Tampa, who became one of the winners in 2010 with Winslow leading in recs.

you tell me what the trend is. looks like to me there's two scenarios at play here. 1. teams who have elite te's use them often and without remorse, and they do it successfully most of the time. 2. teams who don't have elite te's, have to utilize the te because of poor wr/rb/qb play. these teams would not be successful throwing 100% to wr's.

  5. Please, your think I didn't know who Mark Bavaro was? If you wanna feel welcomed here you might want to stop being a douche. How many other teams can you find the last 25 years that won the Big Dance with a TE as their leading receiver?

The 86' Giants were one of the most dominant defenses in league history. That's why they won, not because of an underachieving receiving corps. They also had a dominant RB. Your D doesn't even come close and your one example doesn't prove a trend. Go look up the win/loss records for the teams I listed, having a TE as your lead receiver is not a sign of a good team, it's a sign that you are relying on your safety valve too much.

You guys have a loaded backfield and Bryant may turn into a legit deep threat, he certainly has the physical tools, there's reason of optimism on your end but you need to sort your line out or Romo won't last much longer. Not in this division.

hah no, I'm sure you know who Bavaro IS. He's still alive. I just think you were clueless that he led the team in recs. during a sb run.

Ah, it's ok for you to be a douche to new members though?

The point is gunslinger, not every te is the safety valve. Some are legitimate threats in their own rite.

If the Gints were sporting Gates, you think he'd be Elisha's safety valve? You think he wouldn't be targeted more than Boss?

If you have an elite te, and he's leading the team in recs., it's not like Boss leading the gints in recs.

    apples and oranges.

  6. I don't think we're sensitive, this place has a long and distinguished history of trolls, not fans of opposing teams mind you, but true trolls. The sportswrath defense mechanism kicks in whenever someone new shows up, especially when they are Cowboys or Eagles fans.

As far as the East is concerned, I don't see the Giants turning the ball over like they did last year, they or the Eagles will win the East with the Cowboys winning 9 games and the skins bringing in the rear.

    ok i understand.

anything i say should be taken with a grain, i'm not a troll or anything

It really depends on when we can get started. But as it stands, Cowboys, gints, eags, skins.

  7. I think as Giants fans, we're all naturally pessimistic. It helps when we're handed a defeat from the claws of victory (or however that goes) in the waning seconds of the 4th quarter in the most astonishing and disappointing way possible, year after year.

yea i think i've had a little more heartache than u the last 10 years.

  8. I just signed up as "Jiantz" over on the Cowboys board, However I couldn't think of a stupid name for a topic.

Mite I suggest 'jintz in 2012' and may my brethren be more welcoming than yours have been.

  9. If '07 was a fluke, at least Giants fans have a fluke season to reflect on in the last, what, working on 20 years? Goff is serviceable, obviously that is a position that can be upgraded, but Goff is fine at mlb.

The Giants as a whole are closer to winning the super bowl than the Cowboys.

Nothing wrong with that. A fluke sb victory is better than a fluke fumbled snap on a game winning fg in the playoffs.

And yet there was not one "Giants in 2012" thread when I got here. Not only that but the fans here are overly sensitive, as if they're riding a long long losing streak. How do you see the East playing out next year?

  10. 86? Really? I thought we were discussing the present?

Dallas, Cleveland, San Fransisco, Oakland...great company you're in there.

haha you been hitting the wine too

I used your team as an example, because it's your team. Not cause it's the last time a team was successful when a te lead in catches.

You can look that shit up yourself gunslinger.

You haven't been a fan long have you, I mean you were totally clueless that your team won a sb and a te lead in recs.

    too much gunslinger.

Of the teams you listed, all but cleveland's te would be an upgrade over boss.

  11. problem is '86 was a long time ago. RB's were dominant then too.

problem is the 2 teams without GM's Dallas and oakland- are stuck with what worked in the past while other teams are innovative.

i feel for you Z. at least the rangers are good.

WR's led most every team in catches that year, I just double chkd. Sure the running game was every teams focus, but that's neither here nor there. WR were the number one target on most teams.

any other psuedo facts you got for me?

  12. There's no football talk to be found because there isn't going to be football, lol. Unless, that is, you want to talk about 2010 team weaknesses (ours was mainly special teams and an inconsistent defense) that have yet to be addressed because, um, there's not going to be football.

Come to general discussion, it's a little bit more fun when there's, um, not going to be football.

There will be football. bank it. both sides too greedy to let that happen.

players are just trying to shorten training camp, before they finally give in.

  13. If our only weakness is MLB (which other than running backs who are so damn inconsistent, it really is) then I like our chances better than you covering up 9 weaknesses on offense (Witten and Dez Bryant being the exceptions) and like 6 on defense (pretty solid d line and a couple good linebackers).

And Kevin Boss is a good TE. Eli and Gilbride don't utilize him as the every down receiver because, they, ya know, have quite a few good wide receivers instead of, ya know, one good receiver (and a QB that can't stay upright, or if he can, can't get the ball to anyone, I'm not sure which is the most pressing, though).

And hey, don't get all bent out of shape because you are forgetting to look into the mirror. Your team was horrid last year and will be horrid this year, too. Jason Garrett isn't going to change the fact you have an awful offensive line, an awful quarterback, a group of underachieving running backs, one and half good wide receivers (never know what you're gonna get with Austin) and no secondary.

I didn't call you a troll. I called you a dumbass because, like every other Cowboy fan, you seem to know little to nothing about football, or your own team, for that matter.

This is what I was looking for. Discussion.

A little biased, but better than the a one-liner from a guy who didn't even know his own team history.

If we have 9 weaknesses on offense, and 6 on defense we wouldn't be competetive at all. No team would. 6-10 would be a miracle.

Kevin Boss might be a good te. They're a dime a dozen. Great one's are harder to come by. Boss is consistently a non-factor, with 2-3 highlights per year.

So let's not get carried away. Maybe Gilbride sees him for what he is, a nonfactor.

I know you didn't call me a troll, I'm saying I'm being treated like one.

  14. Clearly when your first thread is "Cowboys in 2012"

    :busted_cop:

Yes I'm going out on a limb and saying we win it all in 2012.

Is that inflammatory to you? that's the sensitivity I'm talking about.

It's a discussion starter, and don't look now, but here we are.

  15. you need to know that no one here cares to add members so the ghost town remarks remain lame. i'm not sensitive to any good smack but yours is not. go to BBI if you want a good place to flame.

again, I haven't flamed anyone. You guys are seriously a bunch of assholes.

I just want to have a good time talking football, when there is no football talk to be found.

  16. If your front 4 can get pressure = secondary is good.

If your front 4 can't get pressure = secondary stinks.

    Riveting stuff, chap.

You guys are so sensitive about this team, it's almost as if your team stinks and you guys are tired of hearing about it.

Come on. You've got a great team, and I'm looking forward to watching them play my boyz.

If you don't want to debate about it, no need to be an a-hole.

    It's more like this:

If your front 4 can get press. = you don't need a good secondary

if your front 4 don't get it = you better have a good secondary

so go back and look at your storybook season. look at the games where the pressure was absent and tell me how your secondary performed.

  17. We had a good secondary in 07, especially in the playoffs, dude. Corey Webster practically won the Championship game for us.

after you started getting pressure you had a 'good' secondary. Or at least what appeared statistically as a good secondary. funny how pressure can do that.

Youre pass defense was the worst in the league thru the first 3 weeks, if I remember correctly, and again later in the season showed some definite weakness when the pressure wasn't there.

Dude, there 1. probably isn't going to be a season and 2. if there is, free agency hasn't come yet. We will probably find someone there. Plus, we have Goff who did fine last year, anyway. And at least we have a legitimate secondary.

This is like ripping on you because you guys still haven't found bodies to replace your awful offensive line. Can't replace them if you can't even sign players. Dumbass.

    1. no shit? Did you hear OBL is dead? 2.refer to no. 1.

so are you gonna find someone in fa or did Goff really do just fine? I doubt both would be the case.

Jerry is more likely to cover our weaknesses in fa, than the tischs covering yours. Our oline won't be a problem.

BTW storm, I came here to talk football. I'm not a troll, I"m not inflammatory. You guys wear your hearts on the old sleeve here don't you?

If you don't want a differing viewpoint/opinion here, let me know and I'll move down the road.

If you guys would rather look at the same old 4 month old posts than debating with another team's fan on a new one, I don't have a problem finding a new place to talk football.
