  1. he was doubtful so I am doubtful he actually sees the field.

    Fair point.

Might see time like Gronk did in the SB, more as a diversion than a playmaker. Dude is good though, got to keep an eye on him.

  2. I don't think that's fair to say at all... when people play a game.. at least when I played, I didn't take it easy because it's a mere pick up game... I had my ankle crack when I was tackled from behind by a guy 100+ lbs heavier than me... he heard a pop too.. i was in pain.. limped to the car .. grabbed some tape and taped the fuck out of my ankle... later in the ER i was told it was fractured. This is not to say one person is tougher or what not... I happened to think humans tend to be tougher in general... he was well enough to play...

Ummm yeah. He did play in the game. He didn't do shit in the game because he was hurt and playing against professional athletes in the Super Bowl, not randoms in a pick up game in the park.
  3. Fucked up ankle is a very over-rated injury. Adrenaline makes up for it. I kid you not I played on a fractured ankle.. I finished the game .. a pick up game.. and in the ER it was an "oh shit" moment... I just think he was over-hyped.

Let's be fair here. First off, one ankle injury isn't the same as the next. And, the competition in the Super Bowl was probably a bit stiffer than your pickup game.

Gronk is a very good player, and he did not look 100% in the Super Bowl. Whether he is a top 7 player in the league is a different argument, but he did average more than 1 touchdown per game. He's pretty damn good.

  4. I think that falls on Eli. He is at a level where he should know what plays to run. Especially late in games.

Yes and no. A mid third quarter 'oh shit the clock is running out' when Gilbride is calling the plays, can't be on Eli, at least not entirely. If it's in a hurry up offense, then sure, but it seems to me that Eli only calls the plays on hurry up.

But, and I could be wrong, I remember them mostly happening in situations like mid third quarter on a 2nd and 6; where you don't expect it at all.

  5. Which is y I find these matchups so intriguing. The thing about 2000 is we ran into a World Beater Defense and let one play spin momentum for the entire game (Phantom Defensive Holding). I still think 07 would win though. Our Oline in 2000 was old as hell and the 07 front 4 would've had a field day against Collins. The issue would've been stopping Tiki Barber.

I think 2000 vs. 11 ends up a Shootout with 11 taking the game. Nothing against 2000, but there's no one to match up with the receivers. The 2000 defense would get torched unless Strahan had a career day.

I see where you're coming from.

I don't think 07 or 11 would've been able to run on 00, Strahan Armstead Barrow The Hammer would've shut down Bradshaw and Jacobs. Both 07 and 11 running over Collins is a good point. It would really come down to the 00 oline play, with time Collins would be able to pass over these LBers. Tiki would be running a clinic on how to run a screen pass (unless Pierce sniffs it out...hmm).

As far as the 11 receivers, I think Sehorn would take out one, but Dave Thomas would get smoked by another. It would be the throw at Dave Thomas Day. Stoutmire and Garnes would be laying down some hits though.

  6. I say just to make it easy we take each team playing their absolute best football.

As far as 07 vs 11 defense I think the Dlines are equal, but I think the current secondary is better than 07 because I think Rolle, Phillips and Grant are better than Johnson and Wilson. I remember Pierce and Mitchell but I can't remember who took over after Kiwi went down with the injury so I can't make an assessment.

    Everyone at their best?

Then '00 might beat both '07 and '11.

I mean I don't think '07 or '11 had a game like the 41-0 bashing of the Vikings, granted it was followed up by XXXV...

  7. The fact that Shannon Sharpe gets paid to talk is very humorous to me.

I'm a big fan of Siragusa on the sidelines.

I don't mind Daryl Johnson either. Baldinger is a pretty cool dude, just seems like a regular guy who loves football, and of course played it professionally, but he never comes off as pretentious, IMO.

    Merril Hoge is a wanker.
