  1. Agree 100% ... people often confuse timed speed and field speed. Jackson is excellent in the latter, just like our own Antonio Pierce, who only ran about a 4.8 coming out... Also, Kyle, in the future don't copy and paste material from websites (in this case, NFL Draft Countdown). Either use links, or credit the website. We can in trouble for that type of stuff...
  2. Eh, I guess if they included Feagles then Alexander deserves mention as well. He certainly doesn't strike me as a cap casualty. He strikes me as an "old and slow" casualty. Roye is an ok player, but he doesn't fit into our defense as well as Glover does (at the under tackle spot), nor does he have the ability that La'Roi has. There is a discernable difference between the two players. The financial aspect may come into play, although I don't imagine Glover will be too expensive because of his age (turns 32 this year).
  3. Ideally, we want someone with starting experience who can a.) step in and contribute should disaster strike, and b.) use his experience to help Eli's development. At the same time, we;d want our back-up QB to understand that he is the back-up and not in a competition.
  4. With regards to Peterson and Alexander, neither has a big enough cap impact to warrant mentioning. Whittle and Ronde each deserve mention on that list.
  5. I don't remember. But Glover would be an excellent fit as our under tackle in the 4-3 .... the spot Rod Coleman was supposed to play before ATL came in and signed him. Clancy is solid in that spot, but Glover would much, much better.
  6. Kevin Federline rode that same avenue to fame...
  7. I'd prefer Gaffney. Pretty similar skills to Keenan McCardell, who Coughlin coached from an obscure receiver into a Pro Bowler. Bradford has speed, but his yards per catch totals indicate he has not been much of a deep threat in recent years...and he's on the wrong side of 30. Another guy to consider is Josh Reed of Buffalo. I do have confidence in Jamaar Taylor to be a big-play WR, if only he could stay healthy.
  8. Also, if we can't get Ronde, I hope we bring back Will Allen. The CB market is not very promising ... especially after Minnesota slapped the Transition Tag on Brian Williams...
  9. I'd love to get Jackson and Whitner. That would really infuse our defense with talent. Not really sold on guys like Bradford (he isn't near the WR Toomer is). Plus, I think we will carry at least 9 DBs and that Kenderick Allen and/or Damane Duckett will be on the roster...
  10. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul...
  11. Any updates on contacting any of these individuals?
  12. I'd give Williams a look only at the vet minimum. Otherwise, pass. I hate the idea of stockpiling busts.
  13. Polley actually started for them at WLB. Scott replaced Lewis when he went on IR.
  14. La'Roi Glover would be a great fit here if Clancy walks.
  15. Not a big fan of that mock. I don't like Howard at 25, no way Joseph is around at 56, and I don't think much of Greg Blue as a FS (seems like Shaun Williams 2.0)...
  16. I honestly didn't notice an association the times he did not convert in short-yardage and running too high. Usually, his getting stugged had more to do with penetration by the defense (see: Eagles). I agree, that maintaining a lower pad level on a consistent basis would help him ... but you're reasoning is based on false infor and non-applicable examples. I think you are completely mis-analyzing that play. But keep going.
  17. Last year it was evident that such an operation can only work if people involved are micromanaged and forced to work within strong guidelines. Otherwise, it results in missed picks, complaints, people quitting, etc. That type of stuff is avoidable, but those of involved in orchestarting the mock draft have to take somewhat extreme measures to ensure that. Ideally, 32 responsible GMs will volunteer to participate, but that's not something I want to bank on.
  18. The fumble against Dallas happens regardless of his pad level. Any time Roy Williams puts a hat on the ball, there is a good chance it will come out. The refs had already ruled TD, then some Saints player slapped the ball out. Again, the whole "get lower" thing doesn't apply...
  19. He also finished with 3 consecutive losing season in Jax. If anything, that would be more prominent in a player's mind. I doubt either thought process entered any prospective UFAs line of thougt...
  20. gateb, what the fuck is an almost fumble? He fumbled 1 time. Losing the ball after the play is dead is not "an almost fumble" ... its losing the ball after the play is dead. The guy fumbled 1 time, and he was extremely sure-handed in college. End of discussion.
  21. So what? Guys don't get in the end zone by mistake.
  22. Hollywood Brandon Jacobs. I like the sound of that. How long until someone comes along and suggests Jacobs be called "Thunderlips"?
  23. What fumble against the Saints? The one where he lost the ball after he already scored? That's not a fumble my friend...
