  1. Being in a coach's doghouse suggests that player did something to defy the coach or there were behavioral issues. Adrian Awasome spent mos tof the year on the inactive list, was he in Coughlin's doghouse too? I expect the Giants to address CB first and foremost through free agency. You don't rely on a rookie CB and expect to win games. As for Marshall, like I said he is extremely raw. He was torched by Demetrius Williams this year. Sure, he and Webster can be the best CB duo in the league ... in 2010 ...
  2. Since when is Walker in Coughlin's doghouse? He has never violated any rules or had a run-in with the coach. His not playing is Lewis's decision, not Coughlin's. Cutting Walker means the team has to draft a CB. We'd prefer to eliminate needs and select the best available talent, rather than deplete depth. And why not give him a chance under Guinta? Obviously Milius was not doing a good job ... don't you think it's possible that may have impaired Frank's development?
  3. I prefer people to offer their own opinions. Otherwise discussions essentially become arguing with someone else's material... That being said, I do appreciate Pete's enthusiasm and dedication. He incites a lot of discussion, which is a good thing. I just with that he -- like so many others -- wre less inclined to regurgitate material from other website in order to inspire discussion.
  4. This is promising. All I ask is that participants are individuals that are trustworthy and consistent contributors here. I just don't want a situation similar to last year...
  5. He's been doing the same song and dance for years, and I'm just not impressed by it ... regardless of where he's from. It's one thing to read about a prospect you have never seen ... it's another to promote that prospect and identify him as a worthy draft pick. Kinda limits credibility...
  6. As many of you know, I am dislike many of the members here at Sportswrath.com in that I was not a major figure on Giants.com's Current Events board. When that board was deleted, I made a long thread criticizing the Moderator's decision. Within a few days, my thread was erased and my account was mysteriously disabled. Nonetheless, I visit this forum primarily for football discussion and very little else, which seprates me from the majority of the members here. As such, I want to develop this Giants-specific forum into an excellent place for posters who want to talk about the Giants and possibly even the rest of the NFL. I cannot do this alone, and I need the help of all posters here. The best way to successfully build a forum is to attract quality posters, and it should be our collective goal to identify and recruit knowledgeable posters that we find on alternate sites. The only exception to this is BBI, where the best members there tend to be very dedicated to that particular site ... message board monogamous, if you will. The bottom line is that if this particular forum is to grow, it has to add new members who can consistently contribute in a positive fashion. BBI just is not a worthwhile resource. In order to recruit people, I recommend using PM's on other message board. Administrators tend to frown upon people who promote their own site, so private contact is the way to go. Do your best to inform people that Sportswrath is a growing site with a lot to offer in terms of football and non-football content. This brings me to my final point, and it applies specifically to new members: please be patient. Right now, our Giants board looks empty and uninteresting. Understand that this website was established only a few days ago, and that we are doing whatever is necessary to make this board the best it can be as soon as possible. As a new member, you have an opportunity to be apart of the solution, and both the members here and myself would greatly appreciate it if you embrace this opportunity. Participate in discussions, present your ideas, say things for shock value, and invite some of you buddies from other sites. I promise, it will absolutely be worth it. Right now, Sportswrath is mainly a Current Events site, but I know that it can be a lot more. I know that it has the building blocks (great football minds, unique personalities, dedicated Mods) to be a tremendous Football site as well. I encourage all posters here, new and old, to do their best in helping this board realize its potential and achieve our shared goals. Thanks, - $
  7. Yes, I know him from there. He sometimes gets on my nerves by incessantly regurgitating player profiles on message boards. He must spend a ton of time reading info on obscure prospects, posting that info on a message board, and then suggesting the Giants draft those prospects -- none of which Pete has ever actually seen play. He basically let's the profiles do the talking for him. I'd like to hear him offer his own insight once in awhile....
  8. Go_Eli, does your website have a personal message feature? There are a couple of posters there who I haven't spoken to in awhile...
  9. Since the Giants recently replaced their secondary coach, I imagine that coaching may have been a problem in Frank's development. I'd prefer not to rely on rookie corners, especially one as raw as Marshall (who certainly has pretty good talent) who are likely TDs waiting to happen in '06. I imagine that the Giants will do whatever is necessary to solidify the CB position through free agency.
  10. Easy there, cowboy. The costs next to nothing to tender, and it's quite clear he can be a useful player if he can show some semblance of a head on his shoulders. At the very least, he should make it to training camp...
  11. I guarantee Deloatch will be on this team in 2006. People need to be patient with him, considering he is only 2 years removed from the football powerhouse know as North Carolina A & T. Considering the uncertainty of Peterson's health, I think its imperative that the Giants bring in a veteran CB, whether it be Allen, Ronde, or maybe Deshea Townshend. I'd like to see Walker get one more shot under the new secondary coach. The guy clearly has talent, he just has to demonstrate that he has a head on his shoulders...
  12. If I decide to organize another board-wide mock draft, I intend to privately contact the GMs who were the most dedicated/helpful last year, provide them with the opportunity to choose their team of preference, and then go public with the idea. Guys like barens, for example, deserve to choose instead of being subjected to a first-come first-serve set-up. I've already decided that there will be no trading in the mock. Creates too much controversy and minimizes efficiency.
  13. I would love to see that happen. In such a circumstance, I imagine the team would tender Walker (give him one last shot) and invest a mid-to-late round pick in another CB.
  14. I agree 100% on Tyree, Whitfield, and Morton. As you might have noticed, I've probably been Morton's biggest supporter on our fair site. The guy is sure-handed as could be, and he has big play ability (3 PR's over 50 yards last year). Plus, he should have more speed and flexibility next year since he'll be almost 2 year sremoved from ACL surgery. As for Clements, you're right that he won't help our overall roster. Like I mentioned in a previous post, signing Nate Clements is possible ... only you have to release/fail to re-sign some solid players....
  15. I made a thread about Ronde about a month ago ... I think there is a strong chance he gets cut. As a CB who can make plays on the ball, tackle, and play zone, he would be nice fit here...
  16. gateb, there are a lot of free agent safeties besides Chris Hope who would be useful replacement for Alexander. Let's also not assume that Hope, who has all of 4 career picks, will be the solution to out secondary's inability to make plays on the ball...
  17. I'd like to take credit for the Ben Leber idea, but the credit belongs to my boy Y27 on the BBI site. I should get a cookie for bringing it to sportswrath, tough!
  18. Youboty had 1 INT in '05. Some ballhawk... Sims is not a 1st-round caliber player. Size and characters concerns are enough to place him in Round 2. Agree on Howard, although if he is coachable he might be a good pick because he has a lot of raw ability to work with.
  19. I would like to see them bring Allen back as long as they don't overpay him. Again, you don't overpay for guys who aren't playmakers...
  20. As it stands, the Giants have the available money to re-sign Greisen. The reason he'll walk is that the Giants don't want to overpay for him. You don't overpay for guys who aren't playmakers, and that should apply to both Greisen and Allen.
  21. Not necessarily true. Teams that are creative with contracts can always create room to make a big signing, and the Giants certainly can do that. However, doing so compromises both short and possibly long-term financial stability. The Giants could go ahead and throw $35 million Nate Clements's way. But it would mean cutting Shaun Williams, Green, and Emmons, as well as letting Greisen and Allen walk. And after signing Clements, they may bot have the resources to replace lost assets with veterans.
  22. I'd say that's the Giants most likely course of action. They don't have the resources to make a big splash, so I would expect an offseason similar to 2004.
  23. I'm gonna laugh at all the Barrett Green "haters" when he's on our roster next season. Martin, tell me one available player who will be better than Luke in '06...
  24. I'd rather let someone else with deeper pockets overpay for him. Solid player, but age and price are discouraging factors.
