  1. Perry is reportedly a Tampa 2 guy, which has me worried a bit. That being said, I'm almost positive that during mini-camp he and Giunta were quoted as more less saying that we'll be a multiple front, attacking type of defense. I think I also read that were seen practicing a formation similar to the Four Aces one Spags had with Tuck, Osi, The Gap Toof and Kiwi all on the line on passing downs.

Really hope we improve. I love me some Eli, Jacobs, Doutble-S but seeing the defense fail like it did towards the end of the year really, REALLY pissed me off. Didn't Kiwi basically say that guys were "freelancing" towards the end of the year and that they had problems communicating and buying into Sheridan's scheme. Big Blue is about the defense, that's our identity. I'm praying it works out in the future. We got a lot of talent believe it or not, but talent on paper means dick in football (just ask the Cowboys).

BTW, anyone think Terrell Thomas is primed to have a solid year in 2010? Seems like a good guy. When I friended him on Twitter he immediately sent me a private message thanking me for my support. I think he wins the #2 spot over Ross in training camp.

  2. This team angers me greatly. Our offense has been absolutely pathetic lately wasting away solid start after solid start. Sure, our pitchers will get lit up on occasion, but god damn it seems like lately it's us losing 1-0, 2-0, 3-1 etc. We gotta get Reyes going, it's no coincidence that when we were hot in June, our offense started clicking when Jose started getting hot after that retard put him where he belongs in the lineup, leading off. Jerry is the worst, how the fuck do you hit Reyes 3rd?

I know I sound like a whiner, but man he annoys me. His lineups and where he places some of our hitters is dumb and doesn't imo give us the best chance to win. Of course it's not ALL Jerry's fault. It's just one big collective fail for the most part.

BTW, Angel Pagan has been awesome this season. Gotta have him in the lineup every day. Fuck Frenchy. He has an awesome arm in RF but he is a terrible, awful abomination of a hitter. We just might have pitchers who hit better. He's insanely over-aggressive, and I bet Hack'em Francoeur weighs more than his on-base percentage. That's probably an exaggeration but I know he's OPS'ing at below .700. Rumor is we're trying to move him, and that Kansas City is interested. Please make it happen.

  3. I could still see Cofield traded, perhaps for a MLB such as D'Qwell Jackon, Derrick Johnson or AJ Hawk. I think he is a better fit as a 3-4 DE.

Pete, has D'Qwell ever played MLB in a 4-3 (serious question because I don't know)?

Another possible MLB to throw into the trade rumor mix (not really referring to Coefield being involved)....Barrett Rudd. He's going to be an unrestricted free agent in 2011, and has basically said he doesn't envision being a Buc past this season : http://blogs.tampabay.com/bucs/2010/04/barrett-ruud-not-thinking-longterm-with-buccaneers.html

If the reportedly cash-strapped Glazers were smart (then again, we're talking about the Glazers), they would try to get something for Ruud now, before he inevitably leaves in 2011 via free agency...Ruud knows the Tampa 2 and would be a great fit, IMO.

  4. i want him on the team just so that will happen in the locker room.

no bullshit id be ready to go if he was doin that shit actin all crazy.

and its gotta be pretty awkard and a little scary being Joe.

Word, I feel like fucking someone up every time I watch one of his pre-game vids, lol. And I agree, I would not want to be Joe hahaha.

Seriously though, fuck Rocky Bernard....he sucks and is worthless, and should be cut. Bring in the proven vet who TC drafted, Jerry. I would love to have Henderson in our DL rotation...he's not an every down player anymore, but he doesn't have to be IMO.

  5. I would take Henderson and throw him in the rotation. He's not what he was, but he's still got something, and he's better than Bernard. If the price is right I wouldn't mind him.

Also, he just might be certifiably insane.

  6. Is it this?

Even though Osi Umenyiora said he has no problem with the Giants selecting another defensive end in the first round of the NFL Draft, Umenyiora's agent isn't sure there's enough playing time for everyone.

As soon as the rumblings started that the Giants were set to take Jason Pierre-Paul with their first-round pick in the draft on Friday night, Tony Agnone spoke to his client and told him what he thought it meant.

"If they get this guy," Agnone yesterday told The Post, "you'll probably be in another uniform."

    2010 SCHEDULE

Despite the insistence of general manager Jerry Reese that the Giants are not going to trade Umenyiora, Agnone isn't so sure. What he does know for sure is Umenyiora wants to start at defensive end and doesn't know if there's enough playing time to go around now that Pierre-Paul has been added to a position where the Giants already have Umenyiora, Justin Tuck and Mathias Kiwanuka.

"He was surprised," Agnone said of Umenyiora's reaction. "He's kind of wondering what's going on. He said 'We've got a lot of crowd there, don't we?' How can you not laugh?"

It's doubtful Umenyiora finds any of this funny. He already has mouthed off about his situation, stating during Super Bowl week that if he's not returned to the starting lineup -- he was yanked down the stretch of last season -- he would retire. He subsequently said he would prefer to be traded if he's not a starter.

"Guess what? We don't get a say in this, they get the say," Agnone said. "Of course he wants to play. That's the whole purpose. But [Reese] is the GM. It's his popsicle stand."

Umenyiora told the Associated Press that he thought the selection of Pierre-Paul was "a good move" and added, "I'm not unhappy at all. The team has come out and said I won't be traded so now it's time to just go out and play. I truly believe I'm among the best ends in the league and now its time to stop talking and go out and prove it. That goes for everyone also."

As for his feelings for the team, Umenyiora said "The perception of negativity surrounding me and my relationship with the team is ludicrous."

Pierre-Paul said in a conference call that he was looking forward to working with the veterans.

"I know they have a lot of defensive ends," Pierre-Paul said. "I'm ready to learn from them, you know. I'm ready for them to teach me [how] the whole process goes because they have been there and they know the defense. I'm ready to learn and help."

Pierre-Paul, who didn't play his first full season of football until his senior year in high school, downplayed the tag that he is a raw talent, saying when he is on the football field, he knows what he is doing.

"I'm a very good pass rusher," Pierre-Paul said. "Actually, I'm a great pass rusher. Pass rushing is just one of the things I can do though. I feel I can become better and better at that, and I want to come up to New York and hopefully become a better football player."

Agnone figures as the 15th overall pick Pierre-Paul will command $10 million-$11 million in guaranteed money and with that sort of financial investment the Giants "will want to get the guy on the field."

Players have been able to force trades with their comments or actions -- disgruntled Jeremy Shockey did just that two years ago -- but Agnone said Umenyiora shouldn't be lumped in with Shockey.

"I think they're different kind of people when it comes to that kind of stuff," he said.

Umenyiora has been a fairly steady participant in the offseason workout program but Agnone made no assurances that will continue.

"There is no such thing as a 'good soldier,'" Agnone said. "You are your own corporation. That doesn't mean he's not going to do what he's supposed to do, contractually, period."

Contractually, no player is required to attend the offseason program.

"Osi will do what's best for him," Agnone said, "to be in the best possible shape for the season."

  7. I know there is more to a lineman than strength, but 45 reps is ridiculous. We have one of the best offensive line coaches in football to help him with his technique...hopefully this works out for Big Blue.

Also, I REALLY like the Chad Jones pick. I was hoping we'd take a look at him.

  8. Absolutely not. Rolle's coverage skills are unquestionable. He's very good. With all due respect to Adrian Wilson, at this point in there careers (which is a big caveat) it would be more likely that Adrian Wilson would be benefitting by playing next to Rolle.

Adrian Wilson is still one of the best safeties in football despite his age...he's easily better than Rolle IMO. Rolle loves to gamble...he lives and dies by it.

I don't like giving him this much dough at all, but it without a doubt makes our defense better...hopefully he earns it.

  9. Let me say it again, there are no good free agent 1B this offseason. Tell me who out of this group you'd rather have than Murphy:

    Rich Aurilia

    Hank Blalock

    Russell Branyan

    Miguel Cairo

    Frank Catalanotto

    Tony Clark

    Carlos Delgado

    Nomar Garciaparra

    Ross Gload

    Eric Hinske

    Nick Johnson

    Adam LaRoche

    Doug Mientkiewicz

    Kevin Millar

    Chad Tracy

    Daryle Ward

    Dmitri Young

That is about as underwhelming as it gets. The only guy there I would want is Laroche. Murphy is a much better hitter than most of those guys, and he only had two really bad months hitting. The kid is 24 years old, just finished his first major league season, and he finished the year hitting .285 in August and September. He definitely struggled at times, but giving up on him now would be too soon. He did hit 37 doubles in under 500 ABs with 11 homeruns. Next year as the everyday 1B I would expect to see those numbers grow into something like 45-50 doubles, which would put him among the league leaders, and about 15 homeruns. If we get a big bopper for left, Beltran has a rebound year at the plate, with Francouer and Wright, that is plenty of power,

If you look at it, other than batting average, Murphy had a very similar year hitting to David Wright. And Murph had 42 fewer ABs. If Ike Davis is our future at 1B (and I agree with that notion), then I have no problem with Murphy being the stop gap until he's ready, which is probably at least one more full season.

I don't recall saying I wanted to address our first base situation via free agency, though I wouldn't mind Laroche or even Delgado back if we could get him at a reasonable price. And while Murph did compare with Wright in some categories that's not necessarily that great of a thing considering that this was easily David's worst year as a full-time player. And Daniel's OBP was well below average and his SLG % was very average. I never said I was giving up on him altogether, I would just rather have a true power hitter at first. I would love to get Pena from the Rays, I wanted us to trade for him before the deadline.

  10. Murphy doesn't produce like a 1st baseman should offensively and his defense is meh. And our farm isn't as bad as it's made out to be in the media. Josh Thole should be splitting time with Omir Santos next year (Schneider is gone) but probably won't be because our F.O. is retarded (surprise). Jenrry Mejia has top of the rotation stuff IMO and Ike Davis is our future 1st basemen.
