Plax 4 Prez
Soler makes "Subway Series" debut in rubber game NY Mets (48-32) at NY Yankees (45-33) 8:05 pm EDT vs BRONX, New York (Ticker) -- It is time for Alay Soler to get his first taste of the "Subway Series." The rookie righthander takes the mound for the New York Mets on Sunday in the rubber game of a three-game set with the New York Yankees. Soler (2-2, 4.68 ERA) will be making just his eighth career start. He hopes it will go better than his last one Tuesday at Boston, where he was reached for career highs of eight runs and 10 hits in 4 1/3 innings of a 9-4 defeat. The Yankees will give the ball to Jaret Wright (4-5, 4.18), who has allowed only one run in 11 innings over his last two starts. The veteran righthander tossed six innings, yielding one one in Tuesday's 5-2 setback against Atlanta. The Mets lost the series opener, 2-0, but snapped their season-high four-game losing streak Saturday with an 8-3 triumph. Paul Lo Duca, David Wright and Ramon Castro each drove in two runs for the Mets. Alex Rodriguez had a solo homer and an RBI single for the Yankees, who had won seven of nine.
