Giants grit their teeth

The New York Giants were methodical and efficient Sunday against the Buccaneers, which is exactly what the circumstances and conditions called for.

Playing without five injured defensive players and fighting blustery winds at Giants Stadium, the Giants limited Tampa Bay to a second-quarter field goal and muscled their way to their fourth consecutive victory.

Plaxico Burress' 7-yard scoring reception from Eli Manning set the tone early for the Giants, who have seized the lead in the NFC East's division.

POSTGAME NOTES

It was so windy that every time referee Jeff Triplette turned on his microphone it sounded as if he was standing next to a jet engine.

Giants RB Derrick Ward was active for the first time and made the tackle on the opening kickoff.

Giants DE Michael Strahan remained tied with Lawrence Taylor for the Giants' career record with 132 sacks.

The Giants honored their 1956 championship team at halftime.

Linebacker Shelton Quarles led the Bucs with 13 tackles.

132 1/2 isn't it? It was a good win. Bring on Houston.

How many penalties did the Giants have yesterday? 3 or 4? They've done a good job cutting out those bullshit mental penalties.

Go ask that to Brandon Jacobs and his JAW. I know he is young and excited to be rolling guys up but he has to show a little more restraint with his mouth and also show the refs a little more respect hand them the ball dont throw it at thier feet.

Or shove it in the chest of the other team.
