  1. Seriously, lighten up....it's just baseball. Maybe you should visit a petting zoo....some quality time with an alpaca might loosen whatever is currently jamming your sphincter.

Petting zoo...alpaca...that's cutting edge material, Joe. How long did you work on that for?

Okay, you keep replying nonsensically to those month-old threads from out of nowhere like a guy who can't let it go, and I'll make sure to lighten up. I'm gonna guess you could give me a lot more advice about loosening up sphincters, too.

  2. Yeah, I feel like an idiot making fun of you guys for not making the playoffs when, if fact, you...didn't make the playoffs.

Wow, I must've really gotten under your skin at some point here, huh Joe? You can do better than this, though. Take a look at any argument between Mr. Plaid Shorts with Tube Socks and me and study hard. Maybe I'll even let you be my little helper. :TU:

  3. I don't want to jump to conclusions... but do you guys notice a trend here? We lose Tiki.. and the sky was supposed to fall... and we play even better.. shit we win the SB... We lose Strahan and Osi... and the sky was supposed to falling... then we play even better... we also lost Shockey... and we don't miss a beat.. then we lose Plax for a week.. and Hixon/Eli play lights out...

I'm not drawing any conclusions here.. but something tells me Eli plays his best with less egos around him. Now, I ask you guys to comment on this...

I wouldn't drag Osi and Strahan into this.

  4. Yawn.

The whole point of shitty teams getting high draft picks is for this to happen. No shame. This was a team built with talent. Now losing to the Marlins is a completely different story.

Lorf, understand- this is a fan of a team who spent more than the Sox and didn't even make the playoffs (although I'd question how much of a fan he is, considering most of his Yankee posts suggest a very limited knowledge of the team and the game). He realizes he's a nitwit, but he's got nothing else to throw out there.

  5. I was thinking more loaded in the spoiled with cash sort of way but I guess it has multiple meanings. Y'know what, man, let's just insult everyone! I'm bitter that both of our avatars lost in the tourney because we're Boston fans anyway.

Yeah, fuck it. He's also a fat ass gimp who wears my grandfather's plaid shorts- with white tube socks, no less. What a mess. Talking about Hank Steinbrenner, of course. ;)

  6. Hahaha. Good point.

I wonder what sort of loaded, spoiled, dimwitted fiend would ever blame his team's performance on injuries.

lol I think somebody thought you were referring to them with this description, Lorf. Not that I don't see the connection (at least in the loaded and dimwitted part).

  7. Just read that they are taking a hard look at Texeira. That would seem puzzling considering the fact that they have Youk and Lowell. Could they possibly be thinking about moving Youk to LF and trading Bay, maybe for a catcher? Trading Lowell and moving Youk to third? I don't see what they could get for him without eating most of his contract. Youk, Drew and Bay in the OF, trade Coco, Ellsbury off the bench? Not sure if Bay or Drew can play CF every day. Lots of possibilities. Wish we weren't pondering them all yet. :brooding:

  8. He's not voicing frustration with the team and he's keeping things in house.

How is throwing a fit on the field and yelling "Fuck you!" to your head coach on national tv "keeping it in house"? Not saying the guy needs to go, but let's not sugar coat it, either.

  9. Don't know, or pretend to know, what goes on in the Giant locker room, but I know I didn't like what I saw yesterday. No player, especially one coming off a suspension for insubordination, should be yelling "Fuck you!" at the head coach in his first game back, after taking a stupid penalty no less (granted, the original call was horrible, but there's no need to compound the problem). Not to mention it looked like Plax took more than a few plays off (something he's been known to do, even when things are going well).

This has clearly reached a breaking point. I'm not so sure if things can be rectified between Plax and the organization. I know everybody wants to focus on all of the good things Plax has done since coming here, including possibly being the single biggest factor in us winning it all last year, but it may be time to start exploring our options. I think Fitzgerald for Plax and a second rounder is laughable (why exactly would AZ make that trade?), but there has to be some kind of market out there for him. This guy is so hard-headed, though, that I don't think he can ever put that suspension behind him.

  10. This season I pretty much knew that the Rays were going to the World Series, so I figured I'd spend my time getting ready for some football.

Yeah, I guess when your organization is in disarray, you're reduced to rooting for other teams. Luckily for the Sox, we always have hope that our team can win it.

Who knew you were clairvoyant, Joe?

  11. C- 'Tek has to go. We need more production, and the defense ain't all that great anymore, either. Keep Cash as a backup.

    1B- Youk

    2B- Pedroia

3B- Lowell is signed for another 2 years, so we have no other choice.

SS- Lugo is signed for another 2 years as well, and nobody wants him. Looks like we'll have to continue to go with him tutoring Lowrie.

I like our infield bench, but like you said, most of those guys are gonna want to start elsewhere.

LF- Bay was nice considering they could've gotten absolutely nothing for Manny, but this is the one position where they have an opportunity to go for a little more thump via a trade.

CF- I guess we'll have to keep going with the Ellsbury/Coco platoon. Both are great defensively, and very suspect offensively. This position, more than any other, is a drag on our offense.

    RF- Drew

SP- Dice, Beckett (who needs to come into camp in shape next spring), Les are definites. I would make a serious run at Burnett. I know he's injury prone, and has a history of pitching well only in contract years, but we can afford to take that chance where other teams can't. And he kills the Yanks. I'd show Wake the door. Let Buchholz continue to develop in the 5th slot. Can't see them going after Lowe as he was a partier while he was here, and I've heard that hasn't changed. Always liked D-Lowe, though, and I wouldn't mind him being the 4th starter.

Pen- Pap, Delcarmen, Oki, Lopez, Masterson (who could even fill that 5th slot in the rotation, but that leaves a big hole in the 'pen), then fill the rest of the slots with acquisitions.

  12. The basic logic of your argument is flawed. Nobody saw the Sox as David to the Yanks Goliath. People were intrigued because a.) The Sox hadn't won in 86 years and b.) No team had ever choked up a 3-0 lead before. As for this year, the Sox are drifting further away from the Yankees in terms of payroll, not closer.

Honestly, by looking at the title of your post, I thought you meant that they're choking in the postseason (though I don't see it that way either- Tampa's just the better team thus far), and that's what makes them the new Yankees.

  13. Could see this one going seven. The thing that worries me is that there were several games this year where we could've brought the Rays back down to Earth with a victory, and they won the game every time. They definitely have an '04 Sox feel to them- loose and hungry. I think Becket will be the key. If he can shake off the start against Anaheim and revert back to postseason form, I think we stand a good chance. If not, it will be tough.

  14. Mick? Why do you hate the Mets...is it because of '86?

No, I hated them before that because all of my friends growing up were Met fans and we always used to argue about which team was better. '86 didn't help, obviously, but I still root against them hoping that those guys are out there, somewhere, suffering.

  15. Does terry francona always eat thru the entire game? every time the camera was on him he was opening a wrapper of food or eating something.

He mixes bubble gum and chewing tobacco together and chews it. They usually show him during a tense part of the game, and that's when he starts chomping on that stuff. I never heard of mixing the two together before him, and it would seem like it would be pretty nasty.
