  1. It isn't like we need to limit his carries to keep his career going. And it doesn't even have to be Tiki, Jacobs should be getting more carries too.

When the Steelers went to the SB last year, was it Big Bens arm of the combined running game? Well and a stingy defense that had a LOT of calls go their way. We should be rushing 35 carries a game, 25 Tiki 10 Jacobs.

Sadly I doubt I can respond to his comments and expect a response, because I am really curious why they don't run the ball more often.

  2. I just don't know how you can say that. That's the same theory everyone applied to the National league this year, yet there the Tigers were, getting worked. The Giants haven't beaten the reigning title holders, nor hae they beaten the Bears. They haven't [;ayed big in a big spot yet, anduntil they do, they are on a short leash.

Yeah that road game down in Philly was not a big spot.

Honestly, I feel they have a good shot. Right now we are seeing a defense missing numerous starters. Osi and Strahan between the two of them being out really hurts our defense. We all knew going into the season that our secondary was weak, and that the only thing that could keep it from being torched was a consistent pass rush. Without those two, we are left with a rookie and a practice squad player. If Tuck was in we could at least have him and Kiwi, and Awasom rotating in to keep them fresh. So it should be no surprise that our defense has issues.

My biggest concern is on offense. And it isn't Eli. It is the playcalling. I keep saying this over and over again, but there is no reason why Tiki shouldn't be getting 25 touches a game and Jacobs 10. What made this team such an offensive powerhouse last season? It wasn't Eli's arm, it was Tikis legs. When we force defenses to respect Tiki, it opens up the passing game. When they start stacking the box, put Jacobs in. Have him pound the line a couple times, throw in some play action passes, and you can loosen up the defense out of stacking the box.

I understand that you have to take deep shots here and there, but Huff sends way too many deep. We have enough trouble keeping Eli on his feet as is, why are we putting him back deep in a non-existent pocket?

  3. braco is absolutley a moron...

so if your a pats fan you think brady sucks because he had two atrocious games in a row, and his coaches let go of so many players and so they suck as well...

braco is carbo. If you spend any time over at the GMB you know his game is just to incite.

And as far as the Pats go....hey did you hear they signed Vinny Testaverde? Brady is totally being benched. Why havn't the Giants signed Jim Kelly?!?!

  4. With the _____ selection in the first round of the 2007 NFL draft the NY Giants select...... Reggie Nelson, S, University of Florida

With the _____ selection in the second round of the 2007 NFL draft the NY Giants select...... Earl Everett, OLB, University of Florida

Sign a CB and LT in FA. There is no time to develop CB's on OT's. We need impact players at that position.

I don't know about LTs in FA, but Nate Clements is my #1 FA pickup.

It is going to be a tough FA period though, lots of teams with lots of money to burn.

  5. the problem is Tiki cannot run a stacked defense........Jacobs can.......Coughlins awnswer is to try to pass his way out of the box........no good.....the 9 man line gets to Eli to quickly

When I see Tiki in there against the 9 man front I blow a fuse............the only way to stop this is put both in the same backfield.........have one rotate to the slot when you see whether they are going to stack

Sadly that will never happen. That is about as creative as splitting Shockey out to the slot, or *SHOCK* wide!

There is a total lack of creativity in our offensive playcalling.

  6. I have no doubts that one day soon Eli will be among the elite NFL QB's. But right now he is better in 2 scenerios. When he is not asked to shoulder the load for 4 quarters and chuck the ball 40 times, or when he has all the pressure on him in the 4th quarter to come back for a win.

You have got to blame the coaches, we are unbeatable when we run 35 times per game. Why do we run 21 times vs the bears in the rain and wind? Also, why are they not running more 2 minute offense? It's obvious Eli is a different QB when the O is fast paced and he is running the show. I really think we'd be better off if TC handed the reigns over simliralry to how Dungy hands them over to Peyton. Give him a handfull of plays for him to selesct from each series and let him run the O more.

Completely agree. I am not saying beat the crap out of Tiki, but it isn't like the coaching staff needs to limit his carries to keep his career going for a couple more seasons. Last season when we didn't know how long he would be playing he was getting, like you said, 35 carries a game. Give him 25 and Jacobs 10 and you have a productive ground game.

Because the Giants are not running the ball as often as they should, opposing defenses are sending a pass rush more often than they should be. They are not respecting our run game. Combine that with an offensive line that can't keep a pocket open and there is more to Eli's regression than just him.

Eli may not be Peyton when it comes to playing style, but he has always had success with a no-huddle fast-paced offense that lets him make the calls. Maybe it is something as simple as Eli not feeling comfortable running a play he doesn't think will work? Let him make the call at the line.

  7. You spend more time criticizing people Braco than talking about football.....

The whole Shockey situation is dissapointing. He had great years with Fassel, was used more creativly, and was more of a dominating player on the field. In a way, he was used a lot like Cooley was used last year.

I can't understand why they are so stuck on the idea that he should be a down TE on every play. When was the last time you saw Shockey split out wide?

  8. The lack of football knowledge in this thread, particularly about coaching, is staggering. A few of you "geniuses" are actually challenging JackStroud for the title.

Good job ace on schooling us. I can't believe you are such a football guru. Way to prove we don't know what we are talking about.

Oh wait....you just insulted us and didn't substantiate your criticism.

  9. If they just rolled the pocket some, and passed off play action more, at least you get the defense to balk. At least it slows them down some.

That is a reoccuring theme with Huff. He seems afraid of running the ball. Texans game Tiki has only 10 rushes at one point in the 3rd quarter.....Tiki who accounts for 40% if not more of our offensive production has touched the ball TEN times?! You don't need to be a brain surgeon to realize there is something seriously wrong with our offensive playcalling.

I bet if Eli didn't check to a run play at the line a couple times during a game Tiki would be averaging 15 touches a game. I miss the days when Tiki would get the ball 30 times.

Listen closely Huff: THIS IS HIS LAST SEASON! It is not like you are trying to keep your 31 year old HB fresh for a couple more seasons. This is his last shot at a SB and you are squandering away his talent.

Because of how disinterested Huff seems towards the running game opposing defenses are constantly sending a heavy pass rush at our line, swarming what is not a great pass protecting line and giving Eli little time to make a play. It is so frustrating watching our opponents QB have plenty of time week in and week out and then having to watch Eli try and scramble just to give himself extra time. We all know Eli is a pocket passer, yet he seems to never have a pocket worth working from.
  10. How did Toomer injure his knee? He put unnatural stress on his knee and when he didn't have the muscle mass built (because I am sure he does the standard weight training program) his ligament was forced to do something it isn't designed to do.

I'm not saying it wouldn't have happened in Carini was the conditioning coach, I'm saying there would be a much lower chance.
