jacksonville is driving again, no coincidence they are running way more than passing
Defense did a good job stopping them though. This defense right now is a bend and TRY not to break. If our offense can step it up and start driving down the field we can win this. Not that we will lose but this drive right here is key.
-
not running jacobs in that situation is like folding AA preflop. it's not going to win every hand but it's got the best percentage to win. actually jacobs making first down is a much higher percentage than AA winning any given hand
I understand that, but when a player is having so much success doing it, other teams are going to key in on it, especially as the season continues. They need to start working in some play action.
But that is what is wrong with this team. They have success early in the season with something and they stick with it. And as the season goes on what they do is picked up, and Huff doesn't adjust in game.

Topic says it all. He looks downright stupid.

nice first drive. you telling me a short yardage back who averages 5 ypg and is automatic in these situations can't pick up 3 yards? at least eli is starting to audible on some of these stupid calls and just hand off to tiki. coughlin could learn a lot from him
You can only use Jacobs so much as a short yardage before you need to start switching it up. Case in point this last run.

Yeah I agree...if it is the difference between one or too deep balls exposing our weak DB's if we blitz; or sitting back and letting them nickel and dime us to death...I will take the blitz and one or two deep balls. Just ask the Mets...wouldn't everyone rather have seen a half-assed swing rather than being called out on strikes on a curveball with the bases loaded? Always play to your strength and even now with a depleted D-line the Giants strength is rushing the passer.
Well I don't know if I would call it a strength as much as it is the better of 2 evils.
But I agree, I'd rather give up 2 deep balls than constantly give up 5-10 yards that leaves our defense on the field for a long time, wearing them out. Get after Garrard and hopefully he will give us some ints like he gave the Texans.

If they are just able to stop the run, I will be happy.
Agreed. If they can stop the run, great. If TL doesn't back off of the blitzing in the second half, all they really need to do is take a blocker out of action and open a blitzing lane. The loss of Mike, Tuck, and Osi is a MAJOR loss don't get me wrong, and of course the "fix" to it does open up weaknesses elsewhere, but we can still get a good pass rush so long as TL is willing to do it.

I would worry about our defensive line and Bob whitfield....
not Manning...If I where you...
My #1 concern is the offensive line. The defense seems able to hold its own IF the offense could get something going. I don't care how "bad" Eli has been playing lately. Some of that blame certainly falls on his shoulders, but when he has plays called that put him 7 steps back with an Oline that isn't holding up I can't blame him for not stepping up in his throws. What is he supposed to step up into, his guard/centers backside?

I really liked the thread that was talking about trading draft picks to get Brady Quinn. I got my full daily allowance of irony in that one.
And that is a good point, the FAG4 could very well have been the person/s attacking the board. They obviously live such a pathetic life to begin with, you really aren't decending to a new low crashing a board.

Between the fair-weather fandom, the asinine comments, and the total lack of control combined with the crappy new format, GMB is dead to me.

I hear you...I have been saying the same thing since Coach Cheerleader and crew got here. They try to fit the personnel to their schemes as opposed to fitting the schemes to the personnel. An example is forcing Shockey to block like he is the second coming of Howard Cross.
The old adage "Trying to shove square blocks into round holes" comes to mind often when watching the Gmen play.

A pair of girls I saw at a club few years back. Better resolution and you would really need to loosen your pants.

I thought the fractured back was Chase...
That was his neck, hence the additional 1 inch of muscle that makes him a better player than Pierce, if you listen to a certain someone.
-
The sad thing is the beginning of the season no problems, lots of other teams had injury issues and I was always greatful thinking "Wow glad that isn't us." Amazing what a couple weeks can do.
-
No, but the Cowpokes will after they get trounced by the Colts.
What Eli started Peyton will continue, followed by Eli finishing the deal.

You Petitgout being out is going to stop Hufnagel...you thought wrong! I expect a 12 step drop and throwing deep to Plax and Carter on every down!
Exactly. It is an exaggeration but it hits close to the truth.

From everything I've seen, the panic is among the fans, not the team. Certainly there haven't been any reports of dissention that I've seen.
Don't worry, when Carbo says something the exact opposite is true 99% of the time.

Nothing, as far as I know.
Do you mean where I put Seubert/Ruegamer? I was just pointing out Ruegamer is still there, and we might not need to move Seubert from his TE play if we moved Diehl.
Don't mind me, I seem to be keeping half my thoughts out of my posts lately.
Yeah that Ruegamer comment threw me off, I thought ANOTHER key Gman was down on IR for a moment.

Yeah what I meant was a good slant. Keep that up and the CB will eventually come close to the LOS. When he does send speedy Carter or (hopefully speedy) Moss burning past them. Make the defense respect the short game to exploit the long game.
I remember one game this season where the GIants came out and threw almost entirely a short passing game to start off, and the offense pretty much dominated all game. I don't know why but Huffie is obsessed with taking deep shots early and often, even if there is a 20mph wind that is gusting to 50mph.
As far as changing the gameplan with Pettigout out, we didn't in the Bears game. That is a combination of two things as far as I am concerned. Huff can't make in-game adjustments, and he can't be creative with his playcalling and call the plays that work best for the personnel available.

What happened to Snee?

WR screen is one of the worst plays in football. It runs the risk of giving up an INT that is guaranteed to go the other way for 6.
It is good that he is going to get a chance to play, but I cannot imagine him making or breaking the game. How is he at returning punts? He has to be better then Mort
Woh I didn't even realize I said screen. I meant short passes, not screens.

I'm Jewish
Me too. Money is great.

I don't think we're going to have too much choice in the matter right now.
I'm not understanding, do you mean we as posters don't have a choice, or Huffie has to call them because of the injuries?
-
He actually has two catches. One was one of those quick WR screen things and he got 4 yards but there was an offsides on the play.
We need more quick screens. Enough of this 7-step drop stuff when our Oline can't even hold the pocket most of the time.
didn't take long to see some shitty playcalling
