  1. So if I read this correctly we should take a chance on a guy who's knee is so bad that he is unlikely to play this season and might possibly be able to play next year..... why? What is so great about Culpepper? Last I checked he acomplished nothing after Moss started to quit on his QB and coaches in Minnesota, so why again would this be a great pickup? Oh, as "viable" Eli insurance? Get off of this guy, he's done. Not only that but how great did he look against the Giants when he had Cris Carter and Randy Moss? Last I checked he didn't even put a point on the board.

  2. From CNNSI.

I think the best place for Culpepper right now, and the place I'd do anything to get to if I were him, is with the New York Giants. I don't think it's going to happen; Coughlin doesn't want the Culpepper soap opera mucking up his make-or-break season. And the Giants are only $4.5 million under the cap, and they've got to sign their rookie class with most of that money. But I say Culpepper would be well-suited for this team because it'd be a great insurance move for 2008.

The Giants have to know that it's no better than a 50-50 shot that Eli Manning will do enough in this season to enter 2008 as their no-doubt starter, particularly with the prospect of a new coach coming on board to replace Tom Coughlin. And they have to know current backups Anthony Wright and Tim Hasselbeck are just stopgap guys. Why not structure a deal with a small signing bonus that would give the club a chance to pay Culpepper a decent roster bonus in March 2008 if Culpepper is the quarterback of the near future? That way, the G-men could simply release Culpepper if Manning plays well enough to commandeer the job for the future.

  3. Shockey even bigger?

    Bulkier Shockey defends absence

Jeremy Shockey was back on the field yesterday, bouncing around, playfully chiding teammates and injecting a bit of energy into the Giants' organized team activity workouts.

Plus, he arrived in East Rutherford weighing a career-high 265 pounds of visibly solid muscle. And he said he's faster than he was at this point last year.

Energetic. Solidly built. And speedy. Three reasons why the veteran tight end feels he shouldn't have to respond to concerns for the third straight year about his training in Miami for much of the off-season.

"It's a slap in my face when people think that I'm trying to do something that betters myself and no one else," Shockey said during a nine-minute session with reporters. "I have to take care of myself in order to better this team.

"Just the fact that people question how hard I work and my character as a person hurts me because I play hurt, I play with broken bones in my body and I'm going to continue to play like that. No matter what I do, it's not good enough for the people up in this area."

Though wide receiver Plaxico Burress was once again absent from the workouts, Shockey was back working with quarterback Eli Manning on Thursday for the first time since he participated in about a week of passing drills last month.

Still, many believe that isn't enough to help a young quarterback who has yet to play consistently for an entire season. Those observers are looking for more leadership from Shockey.

"I think leaders are made in the season, not in the off-season. That's just how I feel," Shockey said. "If we played a game next week, yeah, I'd be here. I'd be the first person in here in the morning and the last to leave if it benefited me that much."

Coach Tom Coughlin apparently still believes having Shockey in town for a longer stretch of time would benefit everyone.

"I'd like to have everybody here," Coughlin said. "Having everybody here helps us because now we move along as a team with no parts missing.

"That's what this is all about -- being able to work yourself through some of the individual stuff and some of the just knowing each other stuff."

Shockey doesn't feel he needs more than a few weeks of such work. And he doesn't expect to change his opinion on the matter anytime in the near future

"I hope people just get used to it because next year it's going to be an issue again and (the following) year it's going to be an issue again," he said.

Notes: FB Jim Finn was absent from practice once again and Coughlin said it's because Finn suffered a shoulder injury recently and is getting it checked out. According to someone who has spoken to Finn recently, the seven-year veteran heard a "pop" while delivering a block in one of the team's first OTA workouts.

The person, who requested anonymity because all injury information is supposed to come from Coughlin, said Finn will likely undergo surgery in the near future. But the person said there's a chance it will be a minor procedure and Finn will be back on the field well before the start of the regular season.

DE Michael Strahan, LB Kawika Mitchell, K Lawrence Tynes and S Jason Bell were absent from yesterday's optional workouts. Strahan is recovering from a foot injury but, according to Coughlin, he might participate in a portion of next week's mandatory minicamp. Coughlin also said WR Amani Toomer (knee) will attempt to participate in a few individual drills while DE Justin Tuck (foot) is expected to remain sidelined.

  4. Ike does not = bust. Probably not as productive as we would have hoped coming out of college but four things contributed to that:

    1. Fassholes play calling.

    2. Broken neck in game 2 of his career.

    3. Playing in a pass-happy system in Florida made him look like the second coming of Jerry Rice.

    4. Sub-par Qb's.

  5. So is there a way I can get my little nephew to meet David Diehl (his favorite player... don't ask) sometime in June? Are fans allowed in these voluntary practices?

The voluntary practices are held at the practice field at Giants Stadium, it's a slatted chain link fence so unless you enjoy trying to watch the action through a 1/2 inch square hole I'd wait until training camp in Albany.

  6. I'm trying to take my little nephew to see the Giants practice. I'm not sure fans are allowed in the Stadium during this voluntary training either. I tried looking in Giants.com... anyone?

Usually it starts a week or two before the first pre-season game figure July 30 & ends the week before the final pre-season game.

  7. It is always good to hear from the king of the homers. At the outset, if you pay attention to what I write, I rarely pump the Cowboys. I mostly discuss the Giants. That being said, it's difficult not to be optmitstic about the Cowboys this season. I have six short, concise, responses to your blabbering beginning with the most important:

    1) I cannot take anyone serious who posts a picture of Val Kilmer as "Iceman" even in an attempt to be funny.

    2) I cannot take anyone serious who posts a picture of Val Kilmer as "Iceman" even in an attempt to be funny.

    3) Rather than going game by game with the QB analysis, let's just cut to the chase. Romo had the 5th highest rating at the end of the season, while Eli was a disappointing 18. Yes, Eli was behind the QB from that awful Detroit team that beat the Cowboys (not to mention Philip Rivers  ). More importantly, Romo took a team that was left for dead to the 1st round of the playoffs, while Eli took an alleged Superbowl contender to his second consecutive first round exit.

    4) I agree, the Giants offensive line, as pathetic as it was, played better than Dallas' offensive line last season. Makes Romo look even more impressive. Imagine what he will do when he has a full year of preparation with time to throw, and doesn't have to manufacture time to throw. We will see this season.

    5) You are a blind homer if you cannot accept the deficiencies of the Giants offensive line. It did not protect Eli well. Tiki, like great running backs will do, made something out of nothing many times. Nothing has changed with this offensive line except they do not have Tiki to bail them out.

    6) I cannot take anyone seriously who posts a picture of Val Kilmer as "Iceman" even in an attempt to be funny. :LMAO:

To retort to your 6, 3 points (you can probably count to six but you'd need your wife/sisters help to do so):

    A. Don't cut to the chase, if you can't be bothered at looking to the details behind the picture then you really are a simpleton. Look at the facts moron, the Giants were tied for the toughest schedule in the league last year, the Cowgirls.... 18'th toughest..... if you can't see that helps translate into an easier opponent and therefore inflated QB rating (amongst other things) you either don't understand the sport (i.e. you are a simpleton, go get back on the short bus) or you are....... that's right, a HOMER!

    B. Speaking of the schedule I'll translate this simply so that a idiotic douchebag like yourself might understand it. Eli had the toughest schedule in the league to face last year, of his 8 losses 6 were against teams that made the playoffs including both Super Bowl teams. Homo's losses came against the Giants, Philly, New Orleans, Washington and Detroit..... 2 of these 5 teams were non-playoff teams, and of his 6 wins only 2 came against playoff-caliber teams. His statistics are overblown, throw passer rating aside as a measuring stick because it came against teams that were terrible.... not against a quality opponent. The Giants proved Homo is about as useless as a wet turd, just look at his efficiency against the Giants, he is a 57.4 % passer against the Giants with 2 TD's to 5 picks.

    C. Offensive line? C'mon don't even make this argument, it's called addition by subtraction. Pettigout (the human false start) gone, and even he is much better than that turnstile Flozell Adams. Last I checked Eli must have had plenty of time to throw against the Girls because he only threw for 4 TD's and 1 pick in the 2 games against them..... 450 + yards passing, look I can go on and on with the stats. The Giants O-line is not the same line that the Colts have but it is by far better than anything the Girls have to talk about.

    D. Speaking of Wade Phillips, I guess you as a Girls fan must be excited..... that's good Wade is all about excitement..... and losing in some of the most incredible ways possible. Music City Miracle anyone? Wasn't that Wade on the sidelines flapping his arms and screaming as Kevin Dyson ran into history? Pathetic, I wonder if Jerry Jones saw that on his resume..... or was he just looking for a native Texan to coach his team? Someone dumb enough to say, "Yes Boss, right away.... anything you say Boss!" What a tool.

    E. Finally I will say this, I admire your spirited defense of clearly the most overblown QB since Jake Plummer but how on God's green earth can you defend a guy who was supposed to do one thing this year..... hold the ball for a kick, he couldn't even do that right! So in conclusion I leave you with these:

    snap.jpg

OMFG!!!! They covered the ball in my KY!!!! I was supposed to use that on TO!!!

    tonyromosucks.jpg

    Laces out HOMO!!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. It's already a parking nightmare. With Xanadu alone it's going to be hell. When the New Stadium you're going to have to leave on Thursday and exepct to get home on Tuesday.

The fucked up thing about Xanadu is that it might be the only retail mall in Bergen County that will be open on Sundays, if it is everyone will be up in arms about it because of the Blue Laws that prohibit retail shops from opening. Not to mention that if that place opens Sundays there will be hell to pay with parking, the most logical thing to do is to keep everyone happy and close on Sunday but as we all know peoples judgement can certianly be clouded when there is a dollar to be made.

  9. The fact that year after year we continue to hear how great the Cowgirls are gonna be and year after year we continue to see................. what? Either no postseason to speak of or...... no postseason wins in 10 years!

Let's talk about things more recent though shal we?

    Mediocre QB?

Let's see what happens after Homo plays a whole season....... god knows he may just be as awful as I think. Take a look at how he got exposed as a fraud toward the end of the season, I challenge anyone to show how a guy so wildly inconsistant could be as if not more overhyped than Homo. If you want to see what I mean by inconsistant just look at his stats:

Opp Comp Att QB. RAT Analysis

Carolina 24 36 86.6 Good game against a terrible opponent.

    Washington 24 36 109.0 2 TD's, no picks but a saftey (Jones) & 2 sacks.

    Arizona 20 29 126.8 2 TD's, no picks almost looks like a QB.

Indy 19 23 89.5 No TD's, a pick and a lost fumble... not so hot.

    Tampa 22 29 148.9 Best game yet, 5 TD's & no picks.

    Giants 20 34 58.1 London Bridge is falling down!!! 0 TD & 2 INT

    N.O. 16 33 58.8 Disgusting, just disgusting.

    ATL 22 29 113.9 Better but even Eli picked apart Atlanta's D.

Phi. 14 29 45.5 Could have had their 1'st division title in 8 yrs.

Det. 23 32 111.6 This one cracks me up, a second chance at it

and Homo gets sacked 4 times & fumbles 4

times. All you had to do was beat the 2'nd

worst team in the NFL.... pathetic.

    Mediocre offensive line huh?

Well Captian Observant, your membership card for the "Real Men of Genius" has been revoked! Last I checked the Cowgirls O-line was so awful it made a Hall of Fame QB (by statistics only.... he always was a choker when it came down to it) so gun-shy he retired and got his replacement sacked 23 times in 12 games and for comparison Eli was sacked 25 times but played in 5 more games. Also if I'm not mistaken while the subject of your "no holes to run through" comment is still up for discussion the Giants O-line opened enough holes for Brandon Jacobs to run for a 4.4 ypc average (never mind Tiki ran for 5.1 ypc, team ranking #8) while the Cowgirl panty-line could only help the team collectively get a 4.1 ypc average (ranked #13). Although Tiki was a large percent of the Giant offense last year in the two contests against the Cowgirl defense even with our "sieve-like" O-line that gave our running game "non-existant holes" Brandon Jacobs managed to rush for a 4.6 ypc average against the Girls.

So do us all a favor Cowboysgirls fans, speak intelligently or don't speak at all (look up some facts before speaking)...... your ignorance is about as welcome and well recieved as a fart in church. You are nothing more than a passing cloud in our sunny sky.... begone with the breeze.... begone.

  10. Did anyone else hear anything about the parking situation this year?

Supposedly the building of the totally unnesasary new stadium will eliminate 5000 parking spots this year. The Giants plan to make people pre pay for parking and are going to limit the number of passes that can be purchased by each season ticket holder. No pass? You will have to park off site and take a bus over. this really sucks big time.

Not 100% certian on this but with the rediculous "THING" known as Xanadu + the building of the new stadium on the current parking lot I can certianly see 5,000+ parking spaces being unavailable. My tickets made no mention of this so I will be making inquiries.

  11. thats is alot, I thouht it was only this years first round pick, in which I would have done...and I could have sworn I saw him run a punt back for a TD against the chiefs last year...guess Im buggin. The fact that he's never been a starter is one of the reasons I like him...that means he's more like a 22 year old back. I think he'd be one of the best RB's in the league if the best running back in football history(arguably) wasnt on his team and in his prime.

Could that have been Darren Sproles? He's one of their return guys and is a RB as well.

  12. Good read Drama/Money...... whatever you call yourself now  . I especially enjoyed your parody of Ernie Accorsi talking to Mike Fatcessa about Kevin Boss, "Unitas would have loved this kid." <=== Hilarious because I've heard him say it at least 6 or 7 times including a guy so awful (Derek Brown) he should have been dragged out of the stadium like some drunken Cowgirls fan.

  13. Give him at least 4 weeks.

Give this season to the garbage disposal.

Don't matter if Hughes comes back, Clemens go's 15 out of 17, this staff is old and weak.

I almost dont want to make the post season, becuase it'll be another let down.

The cards are in Cash's hands now, and if he was smart he'd sell the everything but the kitchen sink. Abreu, Mussina, Damon, Giambi, Melky, DeSalvo, Meintkewrwkwelrkjwelkjwlkrj, get rid of em all. Time to retool.

What the hell did Melky do to incur your wrath Emperor? He's just a kid that plays part time, he played pretty damn well last season in a full time role after our entire outfield went on the fritz. Perhaps if they sat Damon until he was good and healthy Melky's bat would come around after some full time plate appearances? That and we know Melky can reach home plate from center field...... unlike Damon who has a clear cut case of the McNabb Worm-burner Syndrome.

  14. Hmmmm, lets see ....... AROD throws or doesn't throw an elbow trying to break up a double play into a scrub 2'nd baseman. Who fucking cares? Pedroia (sp?) should be more worried about trying to figure out a major league strike zone then a guy who caused some physical contact....... last I checked baseball wasn't tennis. Maybe things between the Sox and the Yankees have gotten too chummy (evidenced by the patting of Posada from Man-Ram).... perhaps AROD would rather have this be like the old rivalry that it is; nasty and full of hatred. Want to slide hard into home go ahead....... throw at our best guy and we'll throw at yours. Last I checked that was the way that the players kept things in line and didn't rely on the umps or their coaches to broker peace on the field.

BTW for the sake of the argument Jeter has taken a beanball in 7 of the last 16 Yankees-Red Sox series. And quite frankly since he is the Yankees best player, if I were Joe Torre I would be perfectly fine with throwing at Ortiz.

  15. Not to defend Plax here but I know this place, I can see how easily he could get blown off in there..... it's a fucking guido/juicehead bar. This is what their clientel consist of; underage girls dressed like tramps (OK, nothing wrong there  ) and a bunch of juicehead (read as miracles of modern science), maniac, cokehead, guidos using all of their parents money. Here are pics of their clientel:

    Bliss clientel.

    Not Plax's type of crowd.

  16. If I'm correct we only got Steve Christie because Buffalo released him.

I thought that he was a FA before preseason but that was 3 years ago, I've forgotten alot since then..... :brooding:

I liked him, too, although I might be a bit biased since he's a Michigan guy.

Probably a republican sex haver too....

    :LMAO:

  17. Yeah and we will need rphguy to supply us with Prozac all season long. :brooding:

Fortunatley as slow as that stuff works by week 4 we should feel nothing at all.

I don't think they made a mistake letting Feely go. I think they made a mistake not getting a replacement for him either through the draft or free agency. Feely isn't worth the money, the org confidence in him had waned and frankly he was a so - so kicker. It would be too easy to point to the Seattle game, but after we tied the game against the Eagles last season, he booted an absolutely horrible kickoff. That more than anything else he's done drove me nuts and to me that's when you need to come up big.

I tend to agree with you on Huston, and if the Giants don't bring in a kicker to compete with him, that's not good.

When was the last time that we had a unheralded kicker in camp with no competition? Todd France? That was looking not so good and then we got Steve Christie. I'm no expert on kickers but I don't think that Huston will get to training camp without some non-rookie competition.

I am cool with that...fuck it, 1-15 works for me in that case....lets face it, this team is not winning the superbowl this year

:furious: Sure as hell I don't want the Giants with the #1 overall pick, first that means that not only will Coughlin be gone but likely we would select a QB..... think of it, even if this team were to get 5 wins there would probably be serious consideration for selecting a QB with a high pick.

Just my opinion but if we have worse record than 9-7 Eli will face veteran competition next year and Coughlin will be gone if the Giants don't qualify for the playoffs.

  18. The "rankings"..... read as crap to fill web pages.

    1. Peyton Manning

    2. Tom Brady

    3. Carson Palmer

    4. Drew Brees

    5. Philip Rivers

    6. Donovan McNabb

    7. Ben Roethlisberger

    8. Marc Bulger

    9. Matt Hasselbeck

    10. Michael Vick

    11. Tony Romo

    12. Matt Leinart

    13. Jay Cutler

    14. Vince Young

    15. Brett Favre

    16. Steve McNair

    17. Alex Smith

    18. Jeff Garcia

    19. Jake Delhomme

    20. Chad Pennington

    21. Jon Kitna

    22. Eli Manning

    23. Damon Huard

    24. Trent Green (assuming he's a Dolphin)

    25. Jason Campbell

    26. Rex Grossman

    27. Byron Leftwich

    28. J.P. Losman

    29. Matt Schaub

    30. Josh McCown

    31. Tarvaris Jackson

    32. Charlie Frye

Eli gets ranked behind an utter disaster from last year (Roethlisberger 7'th) and a guy who probably won't start (Garcia 18'th) and a guy likely to be suspended after his arrest (Vick 10'th), never mind the unproven commodities ranked higher (Leinart 12'th and Cutler 13'th) prove this list is utter bullshit.

  19. Neither one of those package deals are worth it. You could put that trip together yourself for much cheaper, ( I have an aunt in London so that's free accomodations!!) and if you want to meet stars, well you could probably hit London's nudie clubs and find Sean Landeta there.

The trips that are put together by Big Blue Ripoff Travel are expensive as hell, when my buddies and I go to the away games we usually undercut their cost by several hundred dollars. Major difference is we don't typically stay in a downtown hotel and our tickets are almost always in the upper deck.
