  1. In todays NFL I look at it differently, I use to use that, but it changes so much. I look at the strength of our roster 1-53 in terms of ability, experience and versatility, Obviously the stars and "money guys" are who make the team plays, but games in the NFL nowadays are won by having a good solid support system to your star players.

    I just look back on the KC game as proof as to what it means to have the ability to have guys step in and play a position and help your team win.

    I think I mentioned before that the 05' Giants remind me a bit of the 85 Giants, a team that was set in terms of star players and needed just a little bit to get over the top the next year. I am certainly not saying we are the 86 Giants, but I do think we are set in terms of who our playmakers are.

    I think with the proper little signings as we both mentioned earler, the support cast theory you just explained is true. Steelers aside from Polamalu don't have a spectacular secondary at all. They have a decent line with an excellent NT. And they have four very good LBs. What we're doing if we stay healthy will eventually take us in the direction of the promised land, and I'm exicted for it.

  2. I have similar expectations record wise, somewhere along the lines of 11-5 or 12-4 and that would be incredible looking at the opponents on our schedule. Besides playing the top three picks in the draft, it's going to get hard.

    Through FA, I want to get a CB. I don't want to go high with a corner depending on who is available. We are built to win now and as we know, CBs take long to develop. I'd go for an OLB possibly or even a WR with our first rounder. We can get a solid CB, bring back Will and before we know it, have four guys with potential in our secondary. If that is the case, then I'd like to draft a safety.

    I want to do the little things this off-season that take a team to the super bowl. Last year we did the big things.

  3. I remember he did decent against TO in 2004 at home against the Eagles. I think he should've been put up against Moss instead of Webster against the Raiders for those reasons you listed.

    The thing is, we may re-sign Allen, Petereson might come back, and we most likely are signing a solid FA or drafting a CB high. Just like that, Deloatch goes to the dime back again. That's the crazy part about this situation so far.

  4. I'm fine with Deloatch on the roster too seeing that he does work hard but all I'm implying is Walker has proven more. That's all.

    If Walker were to step in for a game or two we'd be fine. Long term would be a problem but not many teams have a fifth CB who can step in perfectly long term anyway.

    I don't want Deloatch starting though. We are built to win now and I'd like to see Deloatch at nickel where his covering won't be too critical for the game but he still can learn and possibly become a decent CB. I guess there is a reason why we are sticking by him.

    We'll see how things turn out in the off-season. No one in their right mind can properly predict our CB lineup for next season.

  5. If you don't think we have starting pitching depth then your crazy. We have atleast 4 guys that will be very solid -Johnson, Moose, Chacon and Wang. The problem is we don't have a dominant starter. Depth means that we'll be able to handle 2/3's of the league and pile up wins. My concern is when the Yanks have to go against a good teams number 1, Schill, Santana, etc, there may be a problem.

    My opinion of Damon is bias...I hate him and always will. If he produces, then so be it. If he doesn't, i'll hire a hit man.

    I stand by the rest of my post.

    Nice to see fans like you who understand this Damon situation. Too bad Steinbrenner didn't have the same train of thought as you when he signed him <_<

    You guys certainly have starting depth but it was like a domino effect for them throughout the season. One good start by a guy like Randy and the next three or four had decent starts too. Same goes for others. And one guy gets hurt, then the other. They seem to fall more then one at a time.

    You guys will have a fun season and if the Sox rotation stays healthy, then there are going to be some excellent hitting vs. pitching matchups that I'm looking forward to watching!

  6. Walker has more experience and was actually drafted. He's also made some plays that have jumpstarted or wrapped up games (Vikings game a few years ago, Steelers INT last year). Not saying much but he does have more on his resomae (I know I'm not even close there on spelling, just figure out yourself what it is) then Deloatch. The only thing Deloatch has is height.

    I want both of these guys to stay but to say that Deloatch would be better then Walker I believe is false.

  7. Any corner we draft high would have as much, and more, talent than Walker.

    Everyone talks about depth and Walker being the 4th corner. Would you really want Walker out there every game if Peterson went down again? If your depth is Frank "Penalty" Walker, you aren't in a good situation.

    Him or Deloatch. Take your pick. Peterson went down this year we still didn't need to use Walker much if at all. Especially if we sign and/or draft a CB (which should be our #1 priority) then he'd be even moved down further down the depth chart.

    He got bullshitted on one of those penalties against Dallas.

  8. We aren't hoping that, we are wishing. I think maybe just maybe he can do better then your predictions that were pretty accurate btw. His RBI count should go up considering there should be more guys on base for him.

  9. I never really understood that line of thought. Emmons, albeit playing hurt, has been on the field a lot more than Green has. I'll grant you Torbor isn't a huge dropoff at this stage compared to Emmons, but he's not a huge upgrade either. Emmon's salary isn't all that bad, either.

    Green showed ability when he actually made it onto the field, but he just isn't on the field enough. I wouldn't cut him now, but if he gets dinged in pre-season, I wouldn't stick it out with him. Especially at the price of a promising draftee.

    Maybe, just maybe to get our full ability out of our players, we can do a rotation. Green, Pierce, Emmons, and Torbor all have potential. Obviously, Pierce is an every down starter but those three can do very good things each and to save them for the long haul, early in the season we can rotate them in, possibly for the first half.

    Just another crazy idea B)

  10. I don't want to bet my reputation on something like that again. I had Carlos at 36 homers 137 RBIs and a. 294 BA last year. Obviously, I wasn't fully serious but I expected better.

  11. People after the Washingston Redskins game in 2004;

    "Barrett Green is a God"

    People after his injury;

    "Another Boneheaded move by EA"

    People who called that a bonehead move even after missing two straight years are retards. He has promising talent, great speed. It's just a shame that he hasn't gotten everything together.
