  1. Difference is that when you're in the red zone Jacobs doesn't have the time to get his motor going like he did against Tampa. When he comes in, they know he's running and aren't scared. That may be on the coaching but at least when a play breaks down, Tiki has a better shot of getting in. Jacobs doesn't have that ability.

did you watch the Giants in the first half of the season?

  2. If you think how a defense is defined is by the way they play in the first quarter and their overall 3rd down conversions I suggest you take a history lesson in what constitutes a good defensive performance. The teams offense gave the team a chance, you cannot under ANY circumstances let the ball be pounded down your throat with 5 minutes to go in a tie game. Just as they did at 22-21 at home 3 weeks ago, they let Westbrook get 12 yards on first down. Good defense just do not do that.

dude i gave up on calling this a "good defense" a while ago. Once strahan went down, we were in trouble. We've lost too much. Lavar could have been a key guy to have too. Emmons is an old piece of crap. It was nice to see Blackburn finally get in there. But they played good enough to win this game. Will Demps just likes ot hit people, he's not a smart player. We're not a "good defense."

Our offense is supposed to be elite. We cant get the ball at the 50 three times and not score once.

  3. But he gets defenses more worried then Jacobs. They have to respect his ability out of the backfield more then Jacobs. And Barber is better at picking up blitzes.

what gets defenses worried is trying to tackle a guy whose 6-5, 260 pounds and still can run pretty quick. You see it in their faces. Remember when Ronde Barber was one on one with jacobs? He did nothign but laugh and watch his life flash before his eyes.

  4. you guys can keep talking smack about the defense, but I thought they played fine today. Yeah they couldn't stop the run at the end, but the Eagles were 4/13 on 3rd down conversions. They were making the big stops when needed. I dont think they gave up a first down in the 1st quarter. The offense got the ball back at midfield 3 times during the beginning of the game and got nothing out of it. They played better than I expected. They kept us in that game. They could have folded when it was 17-10 and didn't.

What really killed me was the offensive play calling (escpecially in the red zone) and also the special teams play. I know we dont have anybody else, but Moss running back kicks is just awful. You could see it a few weeks ago. I dont see why jacobs couldn't do it. THEN I REMEMBERED HOW WE HAD WILLIE PONDER BUT COUGHLIN BENCHED HIM BECAUSE HE FUMBLED THE BALL ONCE. WHO CARES THAT HE WAS LEADING THE LEAGUE IN RETURN AVERAGE? WHICH IS ANOTHER REASON WHY I HATE COUGHLIN. SINCE THEN WE HAVENT HAD A GOOD KICK RETURNER.

COUGHLIN DOESN'T HAVE A FEEL FOR THE GAME OR HIS PLAYERS. HE'S CLUELESS.

GOODBYE TOM, YOU'RE AN ASS HOLE. A BIG FUCKING ASS HOLE.

  5. Jacobs has had minimal success against the Eagles on the goal line. Last year he got shut down at home, this year he barely made it in at home. The EAgles are built to stop guys like him, and they are the best team in football on stopping the short yardage in the red zone.

you're right, thats why they made tiki look useless down there. If you even have a chance you have to put in Jacobs. Tiki hasn't been able to handle goal line situations his whole career.

  6. what happened to screens to tiki or jacobs?

what happened to jacobs in goal line situations?

what happened to going no huddle?

what happened to the jump ball for plax in the end zone?

what happened to passing on first down to give eli a chance?

Oh wait i forgot, we have to run tiki off tackle every first down.

Everything that worked for us we forgot to use these past few weeks.

    We became way too predictable.

    Outcoached, once again.

  7. after plax scored that td i thought that the d might be able to hold up and give the offense the ball back but the first run just proved why we were 8-8

you were teased, just like all of us. It's what i call being a Giants fan.

  8. We were on the 3 and the 5 I think. I'd rather Barber in at that point then Jacobs. Better picking up the blitz, better out of the backfield, and more elusive then Jacobs.

During crunch time, you put the ball in your best players hands.

your best player in that situation is brandon jacobs.

Through the first 11 games, jacobs had 8 touchdowns, tiki had 1. What changed that we need to start giving it to tiki? And even though tiki finished with 5 touchdowns, those touchdowns didn't come on goal line situtations. They were results of 20+ yard runs he broke.

A goal line back needs to be big and can push people around. Tiki for his whole career has never been good in goal line situations. There are no lanes for him to run in.

  9. cofield pushing runyan was what did it for me. It really put an official not just wanting coughlin gone, but a hatred for coughlin. If it's not one guy, it's the next. It's one thing when it's one guy whose struggling. But when it's some one random guy each week who does something with no discipline and has a bonehead play, then it's time for the coach to go.

This team with no discipline, running on just pure talent almost beat a disciplined team on the road. Now imagine if we had a head coach who thought about things, tried to seriously win, put his personal vandettas aside, and actually outcoached some one. We would win the super bowl.

If belichick or parcells gets out on the market. I dont care what it costs, get them here now.

  10. I don't think Jacobs would've gotten the 1st down that Tiki got. I think TC knew that the Eagles are built to stop a guy like Jacobs, and a slippery guy like Tiki had a better shot. For once, he was right.

But the Lorenzen thing is bullshit. What a waste of a timeout.

you're missing the point. If we could have scored on those goal line situations instead of kicking 19 yard field goals, we're singing a different tune right now.

  11. He announced his retirement during the season because he wanted the networks to know he'd be avaliable next year. Don't let anybody tell you different. Tiki was a great player for the Giants, but I've really lost a lot of respect for him this year, as well. His smile at the end of the game was the icing on the cake.

exactly. This year was a selfish year for him.

  12. Did something happen to Jacobs? Coughlin keeps saying he's not hurt. So why hasn't he been in there when they get close to goal line sutations? From what I remember it was him scoring all the touchdowns down there all year. The past few weeks, Feely has become the King of the 20 yard field goals.

THEEENNN 3rd and 1, tiki runs the ball. What the fuck? The only carries Jacobs gets is when Barber gets hurt.

My theory is Coughlin knew tiki was going to retire, and he knew he was getting fired. He didn't want to have Jacobs improve at all for the new coach that comes in. He wants the new coach to have to deal with him. Thanks coughlin, you're a big ass hole. I wont miss you one bit.

  13. question, what was so funny at the end of the game that he was laughing at? I lost a lot of respect for him this year. Why did he need to retire in the middle of the season? Was it to get more money for his TV deal? Why doesn't he care about one more year to make himself worthy of the hall of fame?

For some reason one of my memories of him is going to be Akers about to end the Giants season and Tiki is on the sidelines laughing at something. Have fun with TV.

  14. you know while we're on the topic. I dont think this trade is that bad for Arizona. And I dont want to hear anyone go, "i wouldn't offer a hamburger for Johnson." Well thats cool but the Giants, Angels, Mariners, Padres, and D-Backs were interested. The D-Backs are already taking a hit b/c the Giants got Zito. Then to boot the Padres already signed Maddux and are offering Linebrink and a prospect for Johnson.

Well now the D-Backs have to offer a major league reliever and more prospects. They gave Vizcaino, who may hurt a tad but it's not a big deal to lose him, and a few decent prospects . They got Doug Davis. Now they'll have Randy Johnson.

They were 24th last year in ticket sales. Yes, some teams dont have money and cant sell tickets. They're probably going to sign Johnson to another year for 10 mil. So basically they're giving him 2 years 24 mil. Now step back and look at the money Suppan, Marquis, Meche, Lilly, Eaton etc are getting. If the D-backs got one of them then they would be stupid.

Johnson still posted a 1.24 whip last year holding opponents to a .250 BA in the AL East. His ERA was bad, but I doubt it gets worse in the NL West. No offense, but the NL West doesn't compare to the AL East (and it's not just because there's no DH). Johnson still struck out 172 guys last year. He cant dominate good teams (7.17 ERA against the Red Sox, 14.04 against Toronto, 11.46 against the Mets), but he can pitch well against bad teams. I think if healthy he will have success in the NL. I dont see why he cant have an ERA inbetween 3.30-3.99 next year with a low whip and 185+ strikeouts. Lets not forget his back was a problem last year, which hurt his abilities. But if he can recover I dont see why this is a bad trade for the D-Backs.

  15. There are exceptions but even if the Ravens did it, it doesnt' mean it was the right move. The Ravens win thanks their defense. Their offense has been less than average.

The most important position in football is the QB position. Hands down.

with an average left tackle you leave your QB too vulnerable. Joe Montana was being called out to be benched. Bill Walsh figured out he needed somebody special at left tackle. He made a move and changed up his line. Once that happened Montana became more comfortable and started to look like Joe Montana. Nobody knows about it because everyone concentrates on where the ball goes, not what the offensive lineman do.

I suggest you pick up the book Nas. You will be intrigued. I guarantee it.

  16. It's a crime to take an OL with the first overall pick. And Taylor is average at best now anyway. Eli is way above average. He's been progressing every year. And now that we know we have quite a few underachievers on this team (Plax, Carter, Shockey..) and Amani is out.. we know what we need to do in the offseason to make Eli reach his potential.

Nas, Left tackle is the most important positon on offense. Jonathan Ogden was drafted by the Ravens with the 4th pick in the NFL draft in 1996. He made 8 times more money than Trent Dilfer did when they beat us in the super bowl. Dilfer was no special QB and people credit his little success to the protection given to him by Ogden. Orlando Pace was taken as the first overall pick in 1997, the year after Ogden. 2 years later the Rams won the super bowl with Kurt 'Statue' Warner. Warner was comfortable in the pocket because his blind side was protected. The Rams made it back to the Super Bowl a few years later and lost to the Pats.

There is no coincidence that when Luke Petitgout went down so did the Giants. You guys can say all you want about Eli, but he's not comofortable because he's getting no time. At least the Giants finally figured out Whitfield cant handle it over there and are trying out Diehl. Mckenzie should be over there. Your LT cant be a run of the mill lineman. He needs to have a rare combination of size, athleticism, and speed.

If none of you understand what I am talking about read Michael Lewis' book The Blind Side. It's about a kid named Michael Oher who will be in the NFL in 2 years. It also goes in depth about how Lawrence Taylor changed the game by making the Left Tackle a special position that took a special player to play.
