  1. How exactly is Brandon Jacobs a project? The guy was an impact player on the college level, played great when given a chance in preseason, and performed his role well during the regular season.

Why do people keep excluding Derrick Ward? He's a good player. No rookie not named Reggie Bush is going to come in outplay Ward or Jacobs.

BTW, Accorsi said in a recent interview that the Giants see Jacobs both as Tiki's replacement and as a special player....

The guy from Minnesota who the Colts figure to take as James replacement is a certain 1st year starter and impact player.

  2. I don't like this draft.

Watson might not be bad, though I don't like players who have questionable motivation.

We do not want a Gerald Warren or Courtney Brown.

I think CB is a bigger prority and we should not wait until the 4th round.

I like the idea of a running back in the event of Tiki having a problem, particulalry if White slips to us in the first round.

However, I do not think choosing a running back who likely is a backup to replace Morton should be done before addressing our CB need for a starter.

  3. The Texans 2nd-33rd overall, 4th-98th overall, and 6th-170 overall arent enough for that 25th pick. Im also assuming he meant Sinorice Moss not Santana.

Going by a draft pick value chart our 25th overall pick is worth 720 points. The 33rd= 580, the 98th= 108, and the 170th= 24. The Texans draft picks they are willing to send are valued at 712 total points. They wouldnt even meet our picks worth. Is 8 points something to squabble about? Yea. In order for us to trade back they need to go out and beyond our picks worth, so its worth it for us to trade back. They want the trade they are going to have to come get it, we wouldnt do that deal because we could do much better. The Texans have two 3rd round picks they will have to seperate from one of those.

In 2004 the Cowboys traded out of the first from the 22nd pick. The Bills gave a 2nd, a 5th, and their 2005 first round pick.

Which is why their GM was fired.

  4. Are YOU kidding?

Derrik Ward is NOT a starting caliber running back, and Brandon Jacobs was unimpressive in his rookie season.

How much NFL sucess between the two of them have they had?

You are forgetting, Tiki is a great runner, catcher, and blocker.

Not only that, but we have nobody who has hsown they can run 20 times a game.

In fact, we overuse Tiki because our backups simply are a major drop off from Tiki, it would almost be like the Yankees losing Mo, there is nobody who is experienced in the position.

Again, one bad play for Tiki and we are staring at the 1999, 2003, and 2005 Jets with respect to Testaverde, Pennington, and Martin, I really feel better about getting some depth, somebody who could be a starter in case...

  5. I am worried that with all the signings and great players, we are going to be expected and favored to have a superb season, only to have the injury bug hold us back.

Specifically, I am concerned about RB.

    Remember the Jets in 1999?

    Remember the Jets last year?

In both instances, the Jets were coming off playoff seasons, and were expected to be serious contenders.

The problem was, both times they had serious injuries to skill players and bombed.

    In 1999 it was Testaverde.

Last season it was Martin and Pennington.

The Jets had no suitable backup for their Qb and Rb.

Similarly in 2003 the Giants were coming off a playoff season and expected to compete, only to have injuries send them as well to last place.

I am worried in 2006 we are one Tiki injury away from being 5-11.

He is so important to our team, to both the running and passing game, sometimes special teams, he would be irreplacable, and further, we have nobody who has any record of being able to handle a full workload.

We use Tiki without much of a rotation, we barely use our backups to spell Tiki, I am worried ineffectivness, injury, or age to him could ruin our year.

  6. They have poor depth at WR, and do not have or much youth there.

If you combine Moss and his speed, with Shockey over the middle, you have a mis match nightmare.

We have Shockey, so we don't need somebody who goes there, and with Shockey, we have versility.

If a team has good lbs, we can gameplan to use 3 WRs more, if a team has poor lbs or good CBs, we cna use Shockey instead, and the best thing is, with Burres and Toomer, we can have Moss work the slot and be gradually fitted.

I would like us to consider Ngata, Bunkley, Cromartie, along with Moss.

We could offer Moss the best role, and it would further add intrigue playing Washington as well.

  7. I live in Boston, so I have the misfortune of, if I want to follow baseball, listening to that annoying asshole Jerry Rehmy.

First o fall, he is proof that the American Public School System is inadequately funded.

Anybody that can graduate from HS with such poor speech as Jerry Rehmy is a complete mockery.

Then again, maybe it is a blessing he has such poor speech.

I wouldn't want to be able to deceipher anymore of what is trying to say.

The man is one of the all time suckiest announcers in sports.

Not only is he a terrible bandwagoner, who always kisses the Red Sox fannies, but his commentary is horrendous.

I can't stand hearing him 1) try and pronoucne Papelbon 2) go on and on about how great he is, how he is the next HOF, I mean, first in 50 years from the great Red Sox farm system.

Between him and Gammons, I see why there has been a high exodus from New England.

  8. Just so any of you Gay Sux fans know, just because he is 4/4 in save oppurtunties does not make him a future HOF.

Papelbon, Declaremen, and Hansen are not the next 3.

No, they are decent prospects, the first in a long while for the Red Sox.

No need to blow it out any further out of proportion.

I am so sick of you Peter Gammons knuckleheads going on about how awesome your prospects are.

Yes, compared to your 2004 "Purchased" championship team, you do have a lot of young talent, but that is compartively speaking.

After years of having the worst farm system, you finally have someone besides a mop up pitcher.

    Congrats.

We are stacked in AA, so shut up

  9.

Additionlly, NOSEBLEED was created on Giants.com, until the MODS became jealous of the Fab...

I was there in 2003 long before you were around.

Please, don't make this any harder than it already is going to be.

Surronder the name, and nobody gets hurt.

The mods got jealous because they already were upset at how much more I, nosebleedjints, knew about football and everything than they did.

They were afraid an understudy might further point out their, i.e.GiantGolfer's, ignorance.

  10. Perhaps I am missing something, because I simply don't understand why people seem love these so much.

It's like the cherry blossums or some other much ado about nothing festival we all gawk at.

As I understand, a mock draft is where a couple of guys "guess" who is going to drafted by whom and when.

    So what?

I don't understand 1) the big deal 2) how this is fun or how it can be done, how can you predict who is going to be drafted, and if so, why do you need more than one to do it?

  11. Like many who have already stated this, I too miss the OLD Giants board where people came to talk football. Nobody's agenda was to simply rip on another poster although well played sarcasm was appreciated. I'd love nothing more than to see this site resemble that old board where solid football banter was the rule not the exception.

Unfortunately there is no way to effectively control spammers, trolls and general malcontents. Whether previous idiots from Giants.com make their way here or new one's come along, negative influences will unfortunately be a reality. I'd like to challenge our insightful posters to remember that the best response to these mental midgets is not to give one. I know that if my motivation was to rile people up by making grossly irrational statements I wouldn't find much entertainment if nobody took the bait. Place these clowns on your ignore list or make a concerted effort not to respond. It doesn't matter if they're starting a thread or responding to yours. If you don't give them anything to to work with they'll eventually move on.

    Go Giants!

How would you know the mentality of a clown unless you were one yourself?

    Typical Icelander fan :LMAO:

  12. As many of you, I am dislike many of the members here at Sportswrath.com in that I was not a major figure on Giants.com's Current Events board. When that board was deleted, I made a long thread criticizing the Moderator's decision. Within a few days, my thread was erased and my account was mysteriously disabled. Nonetheless, I visit this forum primarily for football discussion and very little else, which seprates me from the majority of the members here. As such, I want to develop this Giants-specific forum into an excellent place for posters who want to talk about the Giants and possibly even the rest of the NFL.

I cannot do this alone, and I need the help of all posters here. The best way to successfully build a forum is to attract quality posters, and it should be our collective goal to identify and recruit knowledgeable posters that we find on alternate sites. The only exception to this is BBI, where the best members there tend to be very dedicated to that particular site ... message board monogamous, if you will. The bottom line is that if this particular forum is to grow, it has to add new members who can consistently contribute in a positive fashion. BBI just is not a worthwhile resource.

In order to recruit people, I recommend using PM's on other message board. Administrators tend to frown upon people who promote their own site, so private contact is the way to go. Do your best to inform people that Sportswrath is a growing site with a lot to offer in terms of football and non-football content.

This brings me to my final point, and it applies specifically to new members: please be patient. Right now, our Giants board looks empty and uninteresting. Understand that this website was established only a few days ago, and that we are doing whatever is necessary to make this board the best it can be as soon as possible. As a new member, you have an opportunity to be apart of the solution, and both the members here and myself would greatly appreciate it if you embrace this opportunity. Participate in discussions, present your ideas, say things for shock value, and invite some of you buddies from other sites. I promise, it will absolutely be worth it.

Right now, Sportswrath is mainly a Current Events site, but I know that it can be a lot more. I know that it has the building blocks (great football minds, unique personalities, dedicated Mods) to be a tremendous Football site as well. I encourage all posters here, new and old, to do their best in helping this board realize its potential and achieve our shared goals.

There are certain members here who get a kick out of trolling the board and provoking other posters. Unfortunately, there is little the Administrators here can do to effectively get rid of them, because there are ways around suspensions and IP bans.

So here is the best way to deal with such trolls: ignore them. They make ridiculous posts in order to get under your skin ... they want you to respond. So don't play their game and don't give them the satisfaction of knowing that you are their puppet. Ignore them, and the board experience will be much, much better.

Finally, any inflammatory material authored by trolls or directed at trolls that are made with the intent to antagonize will be deleted on the spot. No exceptions.

    Thanks,
