  1. That was one of the worst articles I have ever read. First, he acts as if we were a team that constitently had a top 10 pick. Matter of fact, we were just at a SB 4 years prior to Eli's arrival. It's not like we didn't have Warner, who later took the cards to the SB and Rivers turned out to be an excellent Qb. And I have full confidence we would've drafted players with those lost picks who could have also helped contribute to a SB. And as much as he contradicts himself and tries to cover all his basis in that article he still discredits our defense for what they did against Brady, especially the first time around, and our Coaches.. Especially Coughlin.

We just have a well built classy organization that's always been competitive and well respected. It was that way before Eli, with Eli, and it will be that way without Eli.

  2. The safety issue isn't a year away, it started today when we found out our other starting safety is looking at a one year suspension. This would put the entire three safety defensive scheme in trouble. Contrary to popular belief, rookies do indeed start on this team. The offensive line looks better now than it did at this time a year ago. I realize many people think the Giants are going to pickup that left tackle that anchors the offensive line for the next decade in the first round, there is a very good shot that won't happen.

I agree. We've added 4 starting caliber OL to that unit and Snee is returning. The OL is already much improved. I see the concern with Beatty but with his contract and his success in the seasons prior to last, he does deserve a shot to redeem himself. If he isn't ready Brown, Schwartz, Jerry all have experience playing LT in the pros and Pugh is always a candidate to slide over. I'd still like to draft a OT early I just don't think it needs to be in the first especially considering how talented the top end of this tackle class is. I'm more worried at center than any position on the line. We really don't know what we're getting from Walton, I'd like to add a center at some point. Luckily, due to the nature of the position we can get a quality player in the middle rounds.

  3. Correct but the safety issue is at least a year away and a rookie isn't exactly going to come in and start... the glaring need at OL is the one we need to address now moreso than safety. We have a kid out there in his 2nd year now... if he can't step in, what rookie can?

I see what you're saying but we can probably make the argument that safety is just as a glaring need as the OL currently is.

Rolle, the only proven starter, has only one year left under contract.

Stevie Brown after being a journeyman had one good season then tore his ACL, which he still hasn't been cleared to participate.

Quintin Demps is a journeyman who is mainly a special teams player.

Cooper Taylor is a biscuit away from playing LB and as a 5th round pick from Richmond hasn't shown anything.

Will Hill is more than likely done here.

The way I see it, we have 1 starter currently with that unit. I think a 1st or 2nd round rookie has a great chance at seeing the field in our defense and contributing early.

  4. The 3 safety look was a necessity out of our lack of LBers...I think we see less of the 3 safety look going forward. I'd think it'd go away entirely if it hadn't had some success over the past few LB-lacking years.

That could be true but I think the popularity of the 3 safety's and the 4-2-5 defense around the league has more to do with it. With the league becoming more and more of a passing league each year and the evolvement of the Tight End, I'd bet against this defense being fazed out.

  5. Safety definitely is near the top of the wish list for me and I already thought we would draft a safety high. Our 3 safety defense is basically our base D. The Demps signing definitely makes more sense now but Brown is still recovering and Cooper is such an unkown, you can't count on that. With Rolle in his final year we can't be so short sighted.

I'm all for taking Ha-Ha in the 1st or Deone Bucannon in the 2nd.

  6. We had a stretch where we didn't really face a legit starting qb so I'm not that impressed. And I'm glad Reese and the gang wasn't either. I loved the overhaul of the secondary.

I'd like to add another DT at some point whether it be middle rounds of the draft or Kevin Williams and it would be great to upgrade our WLB. I have dreams of Shazier flying around when we run our 4-2-5. Since we use a lot of 3 safety defenses I could see us spending a high pick on a safety.

  7. Actually I think we can go into the season with this line and new offense and be just fine. The lineman we signed are young players who were drafted relatively high and were signed to "show me" contracts. I also have faith Beatty will have a bounce back year. Center is my biggest concern but luckily because of the nature of the position we can wait to day 3 and still get a quality player.

I think we attacked OL in free agency hard this way we can go get weapons for Eli in the draft. I don't think Ebron or Evans (or Lewan) makes it to our pick however.

We need a TE for Eli. Ralph is crazy if he thinks we'll be fine with Davis and Fells as our starters at TE. I think Eli needs a safety blanket at TE and a play maker at receiver.

  8. Not upset at all with Brown going. We had to choose between Wilson or Brown and it was a no brainer. If we keep both we're possibly in the same situation as we were last year. Browns too injury prone and Wilson hasn't received medical clearance yet. So we bring back Hillis and sign Jennings a 29 year old back since it's way too early to give up on Wilson.

I still think we'll add a guy in rounds 4-6 to compete with cox and Hillis and just incase Wilson needs to start the season on pup.

  9. I think it's Seattle, he's best friends with Lynch and they went to college together. They also take troubled players(Harvin last year) and have to replace Tate. The other thought is reuniting with Reid and Pederson in KC. Third option is Rex and the Jets, Mornhinweg is their OC and was Jackson's in Philly, also why Vick went there.

Great break down and all good guesses. My bet is on the jets.

  10. Agreed...a solid B thus far this offseason. Would've been an A- if we had retained either Tuck or Joseph on the d-line. I think letting one go was understandable...letting both escape I think will haunt us a bit in 2014

I agree. I think a B is solid for what we did but Tuck and Joseph were our best Dlinemen last season. We need Hankins, JPP, and Moore to really step up.

  11. if we can get Bryan Stork in like the 4th or 5th I'd be pretty pleased.

I also like the center out of syracuse, late round pick, possibly undrafted.

Same here. I'd really be happy with landing Stork. Not to sure about the Syracuse center but I'll look into him.

  12. I had high hopes for Kuhn. He should be back to health...I just don't know how he'll do. He had a mean streak and a non-stop motor and looked like he'd pan out. Perhaps the coaches think he is ready. That would be a nice surprise.

I liked his motor as well. I could be wrong but at this time last year we had Joseph, Jenkins, Patterson, Kuhn, Rogers, and we still draft Big Hank in the 2nd. I realize we don't have the luxury to stock pile DTs but that's a drastic change from a year ago.
