  1. He's saying the right things but his unhappiness with not starting is thinly veiled. Yes, he's a solid team guy but he also has a ton of pride....not to mention that another team might be willing to pay him more to be their undisputed, counted on, #1 pass rushing DE. It's still a business, after all.

  2. Well, he's definitely frustrated at not being a starter, so there's some merit to that prediction. And right now, as Osi is still regaining his form, Kiwi is playing at least as well and maybe better. If he's still the 3rd DE, if anyone matches the Giant offer, I think he'll bolt.

  3. Has anybody ever tried the sling box? I know how it's supposed to work but I'm reading dozens of reviews on line that say it has loads of glitches and frequently doesn't work. My daughter wants one so she can watch the Giants and Rangers (yes, she's a hockey fan, too!) while away at school. I'm willing to spring for one - if it works!

  4. While Jack is given to sometimes outrageous hyperbole, he does have a germ of a point here. Bradshaw is outperforming Jacobs, who seems to have regressed, eschewing his sledgehammer style in favor of a dancer. But lets see if that changes now that everybody, starting with Siragusa during Sunday's game, saying Jacobs is "tip toeing".

And Paul Schwartz, in today's Post column, gives us this stat: of Jacobs 58 runs this season, 32 have resulted in gains of 2 yards or less. He goes on to quote Darryl Johnston as saying, "that's a guy who's looking for the home run, looking for the big play." As with Jack, I normally don't have much use for anything Moose has to say but again, the blind squirrel might have found a nut here.

In responding to a question about the contract making him complacent, Jacobs seems to confirm that it has had an effect - but not in the way you might think: "I've got to live up to that big contract now.....I need to be ripping off 35-40 yard runs week after week. That's not happening, and all of a sudden there's that tendency to try to make something big when it's really not there", says Jacobs.

The column goes on with Johnston saying he's got to "press the hole" instead of taking that extra second to see what's open on the backside.

I'm hoping Jacobs sees and hears all this, gets PO'd and comes out slamming into the hole next week. Even if he doesn't break any big ones, he'll at least be wearing the D down, like he did last year. This makes Bradshaw more effective. Right now, Jacobs isn't gaining much AND he's not wearing defenses down! If he's going to run like that, Bradshaw might as well be the starter and main carrier.

  5. Big guy, over 30, coming off micro-fracture surgery, limited in camp, quiet first few games. Gotta be honest, I was getting worried that maybe we wouldn't see the Fred Robbins of last year again. But after yesterday, I'm breathing a little easier about that. He was his old disruptive, penetrating self. Good to see.

Now we have to get another guy coming back after injury going. Paging Mr. Umenyiora......

  6. I understand.....a lot of people don't like singing competitions. Anyway, the year she won was a good year. Jordan's father was in the audience for every show and she was only 17 years old and when she sang, you could see his eyes glaze over and he would be fighting to keep from breaking out crying because he was just so proud of his little girl. I think it was more emotional for him when she won than it was for her.

And you'd think I would have watched it, considering they lived in the same town and Jordin was in the same elementary school (though a few years behind) as my daughter and I regularly saw Philippi around the school. But as you say, some of us just don't give a damn for that stuff.

  7. I absolutely disagree

Jacobs is hesitating much like Dayne did

and watch Bradshaw hit the hole like a cannon ball.........Jacobs hits the hole like a hesitant fat woman

he is not the player he was as a rookie.......something is wrong with the guy

While I agree that Bradshaw is quicker to the hole, I'd remind you that he was stuffed on one of those 3rd & 1's against Washington, too. I wonder if our plays too easily read? We've tried inside & outside and either way, they get more people to the ball than we have blockers. Do we telegraph the play with our formations or are our guys just executing poorly?

  8. Oh yeah, I was there. :ranting2: And I was also there when Bob Hayes ran circles around us in Yankee Stadium! But I was watching on TV - game was in Dallas - when Erich Barnes picked off Eddie Lebaron (sp?) and returned it 103 yards for a TD, as part of a massive rout of the Cowturds.

But after all the years, sweetest Giant/Dallas moment was that "I'm going to puke" look on Jerry Jones face in the final seconds of the playoff game in 07.

  9. Cut me some slack dude.. I work all fucking day n come home with a bad headache.. yet I try to get on here to kick the shit.. jesus fucking christ everytime i point something out no matter how insightful, suddenly everyone was in on the joke except for me.. well excuse me.. I bet no one here can return or cover a punt or a kick like I would :ranting2:

Jesus! Take a Midol, will ya?

  10. I know what Jim is saying. Yes, I believe we are a better team than Dallas but this is a tough spot - opening their new stadium, with a banged up secondary & D Line, still unsettled at LB, Eli & receivers still getting used to each other, Nicks out.......

Put it this way: it's a bigger game for Dallas, because if they don't win in this situation, they are in DEEP trouble.

Giants, good as they are right now, are very much a work in progress. If you are the opposition, the earlier in the season you can play them, the better....because they are going to get better as the season progresses.
