07:43 PM - Read: Josh's Notes from Today's IntraSquad Game

...posted by Matthew Cerrone...

MetsBlog reader Josh Walker attended today’s intra-squad game at Port St. Lucie, and was kind enough to e-mail in the following notes…

Josh writes…

Aaron Heilman and Billy Wagner started opposite each other…Each pitcher only threw an inning of work…

Heilman started for the majors and was hit well allowing two runs…

During Jose Reyes’s at-bat, the bat slipped from his hands and hit an elderly woman who was seated directly behind the home dugout. She had to go to the hospital to receive stitches. She did, however, get to keep the bat…

David Wright followed with a single off of Wagner, moving Reyes to third. Carlos Beltran hit a sac-fly to center scoring Reyes…Carlos Delgado followed with a sharp line drive and Cliff Floyd grounded weakly to first…

The highlight of the day was the lights out pitching of Henry Owens…He handcuffed all three batters he faced…nasty stuff…They looked completely fooled…

Julio Ramirez hit a solo home run to deep left…

John Maine pitched, but was hit hard, and Alay Soler looks like he has pretty decent stuff…he has a very fluid motion…

…thanks, josh, for the update…

That sucks. Only good thing out of that was the news about Soler and our hitting all together. I hope Wagner wasn't bringing his stuff up to like 80%

He said it himself that he sucks completely every year at spring training. So I'm not worried.

04:10 PM - Note: From Today's Intra-Squad Game

...posted by Matthew Cerrone...

MetsBlog reader Jon Elfenbein attended today’s intra-squad game at Port St. Lucie, and was kind enough to e-mail in the following notes…

Jon writes…

“The star of the game was Lastings Milledge who went 3–for-3 with a single, double and a triple. All three hits were solid. Most interesting event was Milledge facing Mike Pelfry with the bases loaded and two out. Milledge ripped a single up the middle for two runs…

Carlos Beltran hit a long home run against Duaner Sanchez

Julio Ramirez hit a home run against Jason Scobie

“Pelfrey generally looked good. The hit to Milledge was the only hard hit he gave up…

Victor Zambrano had a solid two innings and Chad Bradford looked uncomfortable to hit against.”…

…thanks, jon…
