RandolphScott
According to Ted Berg of SNY, citing a ‘team official,’ Billy Wagner will miss the rest of the year with a tear of his flexor pronator and MCL in his left elbow. He will have surgery as soon as this weekend, and could be out for up to one year. Thankfully, as I noted this morning, Luis Ayala is 5 for 6 in save opportunities with a 2.70 ERA in 10 appearances for the Mets. It’s too early for this, but I have to think this will now bring in an intense discussion among fans, this off-season, about signing Francisco Rodriguez, or trading for A’s RHP Huston Street, among a host of other options. Per Metsblog and ESPNNEWS.

Taylorized56
I heard that he might not even make it back in '09.

jranieli
Yes he should be out for ONE YEAR. Not for the season but out a full 365 days. We are out of a closer for next year. The Mets will have to go find one. Hudson Street and KRod are free agents next year.
gateb
I wonder what # K-rod's gonna be wearing next yaer, seeing how Johan already has 57.
Taylorized56
In regards to K-Rod I'd rather we don't spend 15 mill per on a closer. Don't get me wrong he's a beast but I don't see him having another year like this. I think our biggest concern is our middle relievers.
